Rev. Lynda Elaine Carré: You’re Safe to Go – Spiritual Support at Life’s End16 Jul 202501:03:55

Rev. Lynda Elaine Carré is a certified interfaith chaplain and end-of-life educator whose work lives at the threshold between spirit and science. In this conversation, we explore the distinction between religion and spirituality—especially in palliative care settings, where the veil is thin and meaning-making becomes sacred.

Rev. Carré shares how a personal vision quest led her to seminary and into the clinical world of hospice and hospital-based chaplaincy. We speak about the beauty of the human in transition, and the often-overlooked creativity and mysticism that can arise when we are asked to feel our impermanence.

She speaks to the education of dying as a process, the wisdom of the body at the end of life, and how to support a loved one in transition through grounded spiritual presence—not bypass. “You’ve got this. You’re okay to leave. I’ll love you forever. You’re safe to go.”

As Rev. Carré reminds us, spiritual liberation is not a solitary path, and we don’t have to navigate it alone.

David Bouquin: Parenting, Patriarchy, and the Gift of Boundaries01 Jan 202501:06:15

What does it mean to parent with intention in a world shaped by patriarchy? In this enlightening episode, we dive deep into the complexities of modern parenting with David Bouquin. From the micro-level realities—like the absence of baby-changing tables in men’s restrooms—to the macro-level cultural narratives that cast fathers as the “flexible” parent and mothers as career-driven jugglers, we unpack the invisible glitches in the matrix of traditional parenting roles.

We also explore the lessons anthropology offers: studies suggest that for every child, four supportive adults create the most easeful environment. Together, we discuss the inevitable burnout of helicopter parenting, the power of letting children witness conflict resolution, and the transformative gift of boundaries and discipline. David brings thoughtful insights into how we can create a parenting paradigm rooted in balance, structure, and community.

Whether you're a parent, aspiring parent, or simply curious about reshaping societal norms, this episode offers wisdom and tools for reimagining the future of parenting.

In this deeply moving episode, we sit down with Dr. Rohini Kannigati, a palliative care physician who guides us through the profound terrain of grief and end-of-life care. Dr. K challenges the cultural notion of “letting go,” instead inviting us to embrace the innocent act of “holding on” as a sacred aspect of the human heart.

Grief, like laughter, is a universal experience that transcends cultures, yet our resistance to it often drains our life-force. Dr. K shares how being fully present with grief can unlock a spring of unexpected gifts and a profound transformation.

We explore:

  • The paradox of pain as a doorway to the unknown.
  • Trust as the alchemy of transmutation.
  • Why healing is distinct from curing.

Dr. K also recommends The Adventure of Grief, a powerful TED Talk offering further insight into navigating loss.

This episode is an invitation to live the dying moments of our lives with presence, heart, and an openness to what grief has to teach us.

Danielle Parker: “An Adolescent's Job is to Complain”31 Jul 202400:57:06

Meet adolescent expert, Danielle Parker. Parker accepted her first job working with adolescents a zillion years ago in 2003. Ever since then, she has worked with this age group as often as possible in a variety of jobs, from classroom teacher to guides at nature centers, animal shelters, and even the health department. She finds them quirky, honest, and hilarious. (Translation: She thinks you’re weird.) She has a B.S. in biology from Cornell University, an M.A.T. from East Carolina University, and an M.S. in coastal zone management from Nova Southeastern University. She completed her Secondary Montessori training in 2021 through Houston Montessori Center. She is a 500-RYT yoga instructor and is dedicated to her personal mindfulness journey.

  • Parker moves through education with the montesory philosophy and we talk about how this practice revolutionizes ones perspective of the world.
  • The simplification, respect, and empowerment that is infused in this education model.
  • Parker’s integration of mindfulness into her teaching.
  • Mindfulness is for everyone, but you must find the way that works for you
  • We touch on introducing lessons to children like financial waviness + conscious life practices - its never too early to gift lessons of life.
  • Give them access, let them see it, even when they’re complaining, they’re watching.
  • When life throws them curve ball may they pull from the tool belt of their parent’s good habits. This is imposed on them whether they practice it or not. Example becomes reality.
  • Adolescents crave authenticity. If you’re embodied in who you are, trust is cultivated in the teenage mind.
  • The teenagers radar for hypocrisy + “fake-ness” is deeply intuitive.
  • Many of us live our lives based on what we experienced in adolescent.
  • After a bout of her own depression/panic period, and a tumultuous trial period of pharmaceuticals with no avail, she turned to yoga and mindfulness finding relief in embodiment and slow care.

“While My Life Was Already On A Steady Course Toward Burnout, A Major Curve Ball Was Thrown My Way.”

Supporting her family, trying to keep up with her busy medical practice, and managing her inner critic telling her she should be able to fix this problem left her depleted, and burned out.

On today’s episode, we learn:

- How to pivot.

- How to embrace WELL-BEING as opposed to the pathology pursuit.

- The importance of asking ourselves hard questions.

James Davis: Drugs Are Already Legal (Just For Certain People + Corporations) 18 Nov 202301:10:36

M+P family, join us for a remarkable conversation with James Davis, the founder of Bay Staters for Natural Medicine: a grassroots group that has worked with 6 cities to end arrests for possessions, sharing, and growing psilocybin mushrooms and related plants.

They also offer a facilitator network where they train individuals in HOW to be peer trip sitters for one another and host mushroom forages for ALL kinds of mushrooms (and so much more).

Coming from a background on the cannabis committee for the state of MA and in legislature serving the vice mayor in Berkley CA city counsel, James’s interest in this work was born from the life-changing relationship he’s formed with psilocybin.

“Psilocybin changed me as a person: it helped me accept love from other people, and work through a lot of trauma that conventional therapy had not helped me do.”

We go:

  • James's origins as an alien (his mother was born in Roswell, if you know, you know)
  • Story of his home almost burning down due to a nearby Methamphetamine lab exploding in the trailer park where he grew up
  • The oddities of attending college and witnessing peers utilize Adderall (only a few molecules away from meth in chemical composure).
  • The powerful truth that drugs are already legal, just for certain people and corporations to sell them to us.
  • James's mission and soul purpose in ENDING THE WAR ON DRUGS
  • The power of cannabis as an ally.
  • Dr. Fatemi entirely considers her relationship to the plant medicine marijuana, a psychedelic one.
  • Mushrooms have been working as our allies since the dawn of time, lest we forget: James + Dr. Fatemi remind us of several profound historical moments that mushrooms assisted the course of human evolution
  • Questioning if capitalism has a place in medicine - pill for profit is inherently questionable - join us in questioning this.
  • Medicine must be people first.
  • Contemplating THE NATURALNESS OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION
  • These are profound teachers.
  • THE INTERCONNECTEDNESS OF US ALL.
  • We have become so divorced from our food systems.
  • The Controlled Substance Act is one of the most antiscientific laws in US history.
  • The power of voicing stories to our council members and local legislators.
  • We are empathic creatures and storytelling is intrinsically life-changing: speak up.

Henry Winslow: Beyond the Surface of Reality 31 Oct 202300:47:09

Sweet listener, join us in welcoming the radiant Henry Winslow!

He founded Tricycle Day, a free newsletter bringing you the top stories across psychedelic research, policy, and business. It's informative and, just as important, fun to read. (LINK BELOW)

Right out of the podcast gates, Henry shares these golden words:

“And next thing you know, I’m in a bufo alvarius ceremony, smoking toad venom, out of a crack pipe…and it completely changed my life.”

This catalyzes our conversation into questioning REALITY:

“Everything I had experienced up to that point in my life had been, to a degree, superficial, and I don’t mean that with a negative connotation but instead a literal sense: I was seeing the surface of reality. But then I knew, from direct firsthand experience, that there was so much more underneath what we can see and experience daily with our five senses.”

We also dive into

  • Henry’s deep study of yoga + philosophical texts
  • Non-dual states
  • Cognitive absorption
  • The 8-fold path to “Samadhi” - A total disillusion of the ego into a space where fear does not exist, there is only love there is only acceptance, and it defies our linguistics capabilities to define it.
  • Henry’s creation process behind Tricycle Day, his delicious newsletter.
  • Psychoplastogens
  • Synthetic psychedelic manufacturing
  • And so much more

  • Humans have done this for AGES: our ancestors regularly shook their bodies in dance, ceremony, and regulation. Let us remember!
  • Dr. Fatemi prescribes us a dance party, and Dr. Noshene plays DJ
  • How mighty we are as individuals, and especially as a collective.
  • Dance + shake exercise
  • Meditation

Dr. Laila Contractor: In Relationships We Are Traumatized AND Healed15 Sep 202300:51:40

Welcome to another beautiful conversation spotlighting the nexus between Western medicine and integrative/plant medicine.

This week we’re joined by the brilliant Dr. Laila Contractor, an integrative psychiatrist based in Irvine, CA.

In October of 2019 through a health crisis of her own, Dr. Laila fell into the world of herbalism and integrative healthcare, which greatly pivoted her life’s work.

In this convo, we discuss:

  • The complexity of being ill as a physician: problem-solving and hypothesizing solutions as you actively experience symptoms.
  • The difficulty in psychiatry - noticing the cost of NOT treating trauma in a medical system - the cost of prescribing a pill instead of addressing root issues.
  • The beauty in prescribing tools for homeostasis, OT, and herbal supplements as opposed to creating a chronic patient when prescribing pharmaceuticals.
  • We have more evidence than ever spotlighting WHY these alternative and holistic treatments are valid + profoundly effective.
  • If you’re Dr. Laila’s patient you must be in therapy.
  • The nutrient-deficient nature of our American soil and multi-ingredient formulas as an antidote for this disheartening happening (Dr. C brings a profound study that supports this research to our attention)
  • Dr. C emphasizes practitioners MUST pair psychedelic intervention with therapy. Simply must.
  • The historical profundity of psychedelic medicines in MANY religions whether utilized as a rite of passage or a way to deepen spirituality
  • AND SO MUCH MORE

Dr. Kendra Campbell: Free Range Psychiatry01 Sep 202300:37:58

This week, we welcome the remarkable soul, Dr. Kendra Campbell, for a beautiful conversation centering the world of psychiatry and the shadow it casts.

“I can’t keep prescribing these drugs to people who aren’t getting any better and I’m not offering them any reason to get better because the drugs aren’t actually treating anything.”

Dr. Campbell is the creator of Free Range Psychiatry, where she is devoted to holistically excavating the root cause of an individual’s suffering instead of prescribing band-aid pharmaceuticals to numb it.

As her website voices, “Instead of just prescribing medications to treat symptoms, we take a functional deep dive into your life to determine the underlying cause of your suffering. We know that mental health symptoms are related to trauma and psychological issues; hormonal and other medical problems; medication side-effects; gut dysbiosis; environmental toxins; vitamin deficiencies and imbalances; food sensitivities; and other issues.”

We dive into:

  • Holistic Psychiatry
  • Working with individuals to come off of psychiatric drugs
  • How Dr. C helped ween herself off of 20 medications (and attributes the success of that to her mindset and passion for having children)
  • Symptoms as your body communicating something to you
  • If you approach them with curiosity, love, and compassion, answers come.

James Walker: Cannabis, Clean and Conscious - The Cloud Walker Farms Story01 May 202500:48:55

In this episode, we sit down with James Walker, founder of Cloud Walker Farms, one of Dr. Fatemi's most respected cannabis companies, known for its integrity, purity, and deeply intentional cultivation practices. After years in a high-stress, fast-paced career—and a dependency on sleeping aids and Xanax—James was introduced to a homemade cannabis edible that offered him the deepest sense of relaxation and restoration he'd felt in years. That moment sparked a personal and professional transformation.

We explore his journey from burnout to botanical healing, his groundbreaking work with Parkinson’s patients, and his mission to grow and process cannabis without growth regulators, hormones, or pesticides—ever. James breaks down the often-overlooked (and often harmful) methods of mainstream cannabis extraction (cough cough butane), and shares how Cloud Walker Farms has carved a new standard rooted in health, sustainability, and reverence for the plant.

Plus, we dive into the fascinating, still largely understudied world of cannabinoids—over 130 and counting—and what we’re just beginning to understand about their medicinal potential.

Whether you’re canna-curious, a seasoned user, or a skeptic, this conversation opens the door to seeing cannabis as both recreational and remedy.
