Welcome to Connected27 Jun 202500:01:58

Hi, I’m Natalie Costa - an award-winning coach, author, speaker, and the founder of Power Thoughts.

After 17 years of working with over 50,000 children and their families, one thing has become clear:

We live in a world where we’re more digitally connected than ever...
yet we’re feeling more emotionally disconnected than ever before.

- We’re constantly scrolling.
- Sending messages.
- Jumping on video calls.
- Parenting with our village stretched thin.
- And, let’s be honest, feeling more lonely than we ever expected.

And we’re trying to raise children in the middle of all of that.

This podcast is about changing the conversation.

It’s about raising emotionally secure, resilient, connected humans in a world that keeps pulling us away from presence.

It’s not by chasing perfection. and it’s not about staying calm at all costs, but by doing the deeper work - learning to feel, taking radical responsibility, and leading with empathy… even when it’s hard!

And yes - that means parenting yourself, as you’re raising your children.

Now this is not your typical parenting podcast.

Yes, we’ll talk about children (a lot!)
But we’ll also talk about you.

Because connection starts with the person in the mirror.

When you develop the emotional fitness to stay present with your feelings (even the hard ones) everything changes.
How you parent, how you lead and how you show up in the world.

If we want to raise a generation of connected humans, children who feel safe in who they are, connected to others, and able to care about the world around them, we have to start by supporting the people raising them.

That means you.
The parent. The caregiver. The teacher. The auntie. The uncle. The leader.

We all have a role to play in what comes next.

So if you’re ready for honest conversations, practical tools, and a deeper take on connection, presence, and emotional fitness —
you’re in the right place.

This is Connected.
And we’re just getting started.

Joining the show today is Suzy Reading, a chartered psychologist, coach, yoga teacher and mother of two. She’s also a prolific author of several well-known books, including Self-care for Winter, How to be Selfish and Rest to Reset: The busy person’s guide to pausing with purpose.

Whether I’m chatting with Suzy or just scrolling through her content online, I always come away from each interaction like I’ve just received a big hug from a dear friend. And I’ve learned so much from her about why it’s invaluable to attend to my own needs, that as much as I like to give to others, I need to make sure I top myself up too.

In this one, Suzy and I speak about:

šŸ”¹ If it’s actually okay to be selfish

šŸ”¹ Why every emotion has its place
