She is a fierce advocate for diversity and inclusion in music education and performance. Born, raised, and educated in Southern California on the occupied lands of the Gabrielino-Tongva people, she is in demand as a composer, vocalist, clinician, and adjudicator for competitions, festivals, and conferences related to choral and solo vocal music. 

Suzi Digby was born in Japan and lived in Hong Kong, Mexico and the Philippines before settling in London, Cambridge and now Bath. She is an internationally renowned choral conductor and music educator. She has trail-blazed the revival of singing in UK schools and the community over three decades.

Margaret (Maggie) Burk is a conductor, choral singer, and composer dedicated to the transformative power of choral music. She is the recently-appointed Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsion.

Dr. Romey is the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Minnesota where she oversees the graduate program in choral conducting and conducts choirs. Prior to teaching in Loudoun County, Mrs. Stanford was the Choral Director at Oakton High School where she was twice named Teacher of the Year. She then spent five years as the Music Resource Teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. Mrs. Stanford is a frequent guest conductor, adjudicator, and accompanist. 

Today on conduct(her), McKenna & Kyra interview Dr. Carole Ott Coelho. Coelho is the Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her degrees include the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in conducting from the University of Michigan where she studied with Jerry Blackstone and Theo Morrison. She also holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where her primary instrument was French Horn.

Dr. Amelia Nagoski is the co-author, with her sister Emily, of the New York Times bestselling Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle and the Burnout workbook. Award-winning choral conductor and music educator Dr. Julie Yu-Oppenheim is returning to Oklahoma to accept the joint leadership position of director of choral activities at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University and artistic director of Canterbury Voices, Oklahoma’s premiere symphony chorus. At the time of this interview, Dr. Julie Yu-Oppenheim was co-director of choral studies at Kansas State University.
