NORTHERN BC MOOSE HUNT RECAP | COME OUT HEAVY PODCAST
After two months away from the microphones, we're back! Devin and Curt sit down to recap their 12-day Northern BC moose hunting adventure.
Armed with two custom-built trailers, quads, and a wall tent, we headed deep into unfamiliar country chasing northern bulls. But just 15 minutes down the trail, things started going sideways when our trailer suspension began bending. The decision? "Ride her till she breaks, boys!"
Four days of grinding through the bush, covering miles, fighting the wind, and hearing absolutely nothing had us questioning our strategy. A decision to spike out farther up the valley changed everything, leading to a hectic encounter and a 400-yard shot that put a bull moose on the ground.
But getting a moose down was only half the adventure. A snowstorm, winching quads from tree to tree, a close call with a highway truck, and 1,100 km of pouring rain made for a memorable trip home.
We also dive into the gear that earned its keep, including the Fierce Rage LR in .300 PRC, Aziak tripods, Atlas Edge mapping, Mike Jones Knives, our wall tent setup, and the lessons learned from putting our custom-built trailers through a serious backcountry test.
From hunting strategy and moose behavior to gear failures, camp life, and the things we'd do differently, we're breaking down the entire adventure.
As Curt put it: "The most uneventful, successful trip of my life."
Grab a cold one and come along for the ride!
