Natalie Dormer Interview: Margaery's Death in Game of Thrones & Making The Wasp29 Aug 202400:38:07

While Natalie Dormer’s filmography does rock quite a few standout projects and roles, when she first started her journey in screen acting, she quickly recognized the fact that there weren’t enough “three-dimensional, fleshed-out female protagonists." She explained, “You would be sent the script for ‘the girlfriend,’ ‘the wife,’ or ‘the antagonist,’ and the majority was so two-dimensional.” However, that’s changed considerably over the years. “Now when you're scrolling on whatever platform you're watching and seeing the amount of fleshed-out, three-dimensional, anti-heroic female protagonists … it's just night and day.” It’s night and day, indeed. You want some proof? Go check out Dormer’s latest film, The Wasp.

Dormer stars opposite Naomie Harris in the stage-to-screen adaptation as two estranged school friends, Carla and Heather, who reunite and get involved in some rather diabolical events. As Dormer put it, they’re “women who are both capable of profound darkness and profound vulnerability,” a combination that consistently tests your nerves and allegiance all through the film.

With the twisted psychological thriller now playing in theaters, Dormer joined me for a Collider Ladies Night conversation to discuss some influential moments in her career that paved the way to embracing the opportunity to portray such an angry yet vulnerable character in The Wasp.

Willa Fitzgerald Interview: Strange Darling, Scream TV Show Cancellation & More25 Aug 202401:03:40

I walked away from Fantastic Fest 2023 calling Strange Darling my favorite film of the festival. Had it received a 2023 release date, it would have been one of my top films of the year. Now it’s August 2024 and nothing has changed. I’d be utterly shocked if Strange Darling didn’t land in my Top 10 of 2024, and I’d also be shocked if I didn’t close out the year calling Willa Fitzgerald’s work in the film one of my favorite performances of, not just 2024, but of recent years.

Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner headline the movie as The Lady and The Demon. It’s a story loaded with brilliantly crafted twists and turns from writer-director JT Mollner and the team, so we’ll keep the plot synopsis simple; the two have a one-night-stand and it kicks off a murder spree.

I’ve been itching to get Fitzgerald on Collider Ladies Night since Strange Darling’s world premiere screening in September 2023, and now the time has finally come. With Strange Darling now playing in theaters, she joined me for a Ladies Night chat which, yes, included some Scream TV Series talk, but also heavily focused on her exquisite work in Strange Darling.

Kaya Scodelario Interview: From Skins to Netflix's The Gentlemen24 Jun 202400:31:26

Getting a breakout role in film and television is the dream for many aspiring actors, but just as important are the projects one chooses to take after that breakout gig. Given the business’ habit of boxing artists into the first thing the world sees them do well, it can be a great challenge to amass a diverse body of work. How does one steer clear of those limitations and carve a path forward with volume and diversity? Perhaps by taking a cue from Kaya Scodelario.

Scodelario’s star began to soar via her work as Effy Stonem in the hit British teen series, Skins. After doing four seasons of the show, Scodelario began to pick up other television and film credits, credits ranging from Hollywood blockbusters like 2010’s Clash of the Titans to Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights, which celebrated its big debut at the 2011 Venice Film Festival before going on to other top tier fests like the Toronto International Film Festival and Sundance.

Over a decade later, Scodelario still enjoys a vast range of work. She headlined the 2019 horror gem Crawl, jumped into a popular game franchise with Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and then did the Christmas romantic comedy, This Is Christmas. Yet another vastly different standout credit on her resume? The new Guy Ritchie Netflix series, The Gentlemen, a kinetic crime comedy that's enjoying a good deal of Emmy buzz this season.

Inspired by Ritchie’s 2019 film, The Gentlemen series stars Theo James as Edward Horniman. After his father passes, Eddie inherits the family estate and becomes Duke of Halstead. As if all that isn’t enough to process, Eddie is soon made aware that his father secretly made an arrangement with Bobby Glass’ (Ray Winstone) weed empire. If Eddie continues to let them grow their product below ground on his property, he'll get large sums of money in return, money Eddie needs given the state of the family farm and his brother’s (Daniel Ings) habit of accumulating massive debts with dangerous figures. The person in charge of this weed empire while Bobby is in prison? His daughter, Scodelario’s Susie Glass.

In celebration of The Gentlemen’s successful Season 1 run, Scodelario joined me for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to retrace her steps from breaking out via Skins to starring in an acclaimed Guy Ritchie production.

Jenny Slate Interview: From SNL & Big Terrific to Marcel the Shell with Shoes On14 Jul 202200:32:47

Jenny Slate, Dean Fleischer Camp, and Nick Paley did it. They took the 2010 internet sensation, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On the short film, and expanded the concept into a full feature. And they didn’t just figure out a way to make it work. They crafted a deeply moving exploration of connection and community, far exceeding expectations and delivering a film that’s currently a favorite of 2022.

In the new movie, Marcel, a talking shell with shoes on voiced by Slate, is living with his Nana Connie (voiced by Isabella Rossellini) in a home being used as an Airbnb. They used to be part of a thriving community there, but their loved ones vanished, challenging Marcel and Connie to figure out how to survive on their own as tiny shells in a big house while also coping with their loss. However, when a documentary filmmaker (Camp) moves in, Marcel winds up with an unexpected opportunity to try to track down their loved ones.

With Marcel the Shell with Shoes On getting an expanded theatrical release on July 15th, I got the chance to chat with Slate about the movie and so much more during an episode of Collider Ladies Night.

Stranger Things: Natalia Dyer Revisits Nancy's Journey from Playing by the Rules to Bravely Facing Danger10 Jul 202200:40:29

Stranger Things features a number of powerful character arcs, but a personal favorite of the bunch is Nancy Wheeler’s evolution from timid student finding her way in the high school social scene to a sheer force who’s willing to throw herself into danger to fight for her loved ones. That epic transformation is exactly what we break down in this new edition of Collider Ladies Night with Nancy Wheeler herself, Natalia Dyer.

In Season 1 of Stranger Things, Nancy is inspired to step up and face the Upside Down after Barb’s (Shannon Purser) disappearance. It’s a mighty powerful early point of change for the character, and it's something that the Duffer Brothers continued to build upon as Nancy’s circle of loved ones grew and as the threat of the Upside Down intensified. Throughout much of Season 2, Nancy teams with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) to expose Hawkins Lab, and then in Season 3, she applies that tenacity to overcoming intense disrespect from the staff of the Hawkins Post to see an investigation through that proves vital to battling the Mind Flayer.

As we see in Stranger Things 4, Episode 9, “The Piggyback,” every single character proves vital to the plan to defeat Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), but Nancy in particular shows off an especially essential ability to assess the threat and figure out what's necessary to power through the mission, a quality that will undoubtedly be crucial to saving Hawkins in the show’s final season.

Hear all about Dyer's journey from discovering her passion for acting to becoming a Netflix powerhouse on this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

The Boys Season 3 Spoilers with Claudia Doumit: Victoria Neuman’s Complex Internal Conflict08 Jul 202200:37:16

Claudia Doumit is on fire as Victoria Neuman in Season 3 of The Boys. She did make a big impression when she was first introduced in Season 2 of the Prime Video series, but we had to wait nearly the entire season to see what Neuman was really capable of. Now, in Season 3, not only is Neuman less secretive about her head-popping ability, but she’s also proving to be one of the most complex characters to track.

Neuman may convey a certain set of goals and values to the public, but deep down, she’s got a top-secret agenda that she’s determined to see through to protect her daughter, Zoe (Olivia Morandin).

You don’t become this skilled at conveying multiple emotions and intentions in a single moment without some serious training and experience, and Doumit has certainly put in the work in that respect. With Season 3 of The Boys now available to stream in its entirety, Doumit joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to recap how she went from getting rejected from acting schools in Australia to starring in one of the hottest shows on Prime Video.

Geena Davis Career Interview: Thelma and Louise, The Fly, Beetlejuice and More01 Jul 202200:39:33

Geena Davis is a force in this industry. Not only is she a hugely talented Academy Award-winner with a slew of iconic titles on her filmography like Thelma & Louise, A League of Their Own, Beetlejuice, and more, but she’s also actively working to change this industry for the better via the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media and also through the Bentonville Film Festival. If that’s not the definition of a perfect guest for Collider Ladies Night, I don’t know what is!

With Bentonville having just celebrated its eighth year, Davis took the time to join me for a Collider Ladies Night interview to revisit some of her past titles and discuss exactly how those experiences sparked the goals she fights for today.

Find out what she had to see about Beetlejuice, Thelma and Louise, and so much more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

Pre-Party: Meet The Umbrella Academy Star Ritu Arya26 Jun 202200:32:12

The cast of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy was electric in Season 1. One’s got to imagine it’s a challenge to join such an ensemble and encourage the audience to fall for your character just as hard, but Ritu Arya did just that in the second season as Lila Pitts.

When we first meet Lila in the hit Netflix series, her adoptive mother, The Handler (Kate Walsh), has her assisting in her mission to overthrow the authority at The Commission so she can assume control. However, after succeeding in that plan, Lila comes to learn that The Handler is responsible for the murder of her biological mother and stepfather, putting their entire relationship in question. Diego (David Castañeda) and the Umbrellas try to convince Lila that they can be her family, but after The Handler is shot, Lila opts to take off with the briefcase.

Season 3 picks up immediately after the events of Season 2 with the Umbrellas making their way home sweet home to present-day New York — or so they think. Their home now belongs to The Sparrow Academy, an alternative version of their super-powered family. Ultimately, Lila does make her way back to the group to test this notion of family in an unexpected way; she tells Diego that they had a son together, Stanley (Javon Walton).

With The Umbrella Academy Season 3 now available to watch — or, let’s get real, to binge on Netflix, Arya joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party to retrace her steps in the industry and discuss how she scored a role on one of the streamer’s hottest shows.

Sadie Sink Interview: From Broadway Dreams to Stranger Things24 Jun 202200:27:53

Sadie Sink’s star is soaring. And it has been ever since Stranger Things 2 hit Netflix in October of 2017. But since, Sink has made the absolute most of every single opportunity to come her way, proving her boundless range and astronomical promise in this industry.

Not only is she a sheer force in her first lead role in a feature film playing Ziggy in Fear Street 1978, but she also shines in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film, will star in Darren Aronofsky’s next film, The Whale, and, to top it all off, she delivers what I truly believe is an Emmy nomination-worthy performance in Stranger Things 4. Sink is a true standout in front of the camera, so it’s shocking to think that there was a time when Sink envisioned her career being solely on the stage, not on screen.

While we wait for Strange Things 4 Volume 2 to drop on Netflix on July 1st, Sink joined me for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to recap her journey from her earliest inspirations to Stranger Things megastar.

Hear all about her time working on the stage, how she made the pivot to screen, what she imagines Max went through between Stranger Things 3 and 4, what it was like filming "Dear Billy," and so much more in this interview!

Pre-Party: Meet The Summer I Turned Pretty Star Lola Tung19 Jun 202200:29:58

If you've binged Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty, I'm willing to bet you want to know everything about the film's star, newcomer Lola Tung! If you fit that description, you've come to the right place. In this episode of Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party, we recap how Tung went from playing the Tin Man in a school production of The Wizard of Oz to headlining the latest Jenny Han adaption for Amazon.

Tung leads the series as Belly, a teenager who always spends her summers at Cousins Beach with her family and their close friends the Fishers. Belly's always been the youngest of the bunch, the little sister to her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) and also to the Fisher boys, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). That kind of connection and coming-of-age awkwardness hasn't done much for Belly's crush on Conrad, but this summer is different. This is the summer Belly "turned pretty."

Check out this The Summer I Turned Pretty interview to get to know Tung and to hear all about her journey from studying drama in school to tackling her very first professional acting gig.

Leslie Bibb Career Interview: Iron Man, Private Parts, Popular Playing Satan and More16 Jun 202201:04:03

Leslie Bibb did it. She put in the work, honed her craft, powered through the lows, and now tackles one film or television project after the next. Is it smooth sailing? Not always, but thanks to a journey that included a whole lot of determination and excellent mentorship, Bibb now gets opportunities like God’s Favorite Idiot, a new Netflix series that lets her swing for the fences playing Satan.

The show is created by Ben Falcone who also stars in it as Clark. One day, Clark is struck by lightning and the next, he glows. Turns out, that lightning strike wasn’t a random occurrence. It happens because Clark’s been chosen by God to help spread peace in an effort to ward off an impending apocalypse. Someone he’ll have to go up against in that pursuit? Bibb as Satan.

With God’s Favorite Idiot now available to stream on Netflix, Bibb joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit some of her journey from hitting it big with Popular to scoring a dream opportunity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

DeWanda Wise on Jurassic World Dominion, Exiting Captain Marvel and More07 Jun 202200:30:21

If you’re not familiar with DeWanda Wise, get ready for that to change because she is one of the best new additions to the Jurassic franchise since the release of the 1993 original.

Come June 10th, you’ll get to meet Kayla Watts in Jurassic World Dominion. She’s a contract pilot who gets gigs from Biosyn, a biotech company that created a safe haven for dinosaurs in the Dolomites in Italy. She’s usually all business — complete an assignment, get the money, move on — but when she crosses paths with Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen (Chris Pratt), she’s compelled to change course.

In honor of Jurassic World Dominion’s big debut, Wise took some time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night. While Dominion may mark her very first massive studio blockbuster, Wise has been busy racking up impressive titles for quite some time including Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, the delightful romantic comedy Someone Great, and so much more.

Everything Everywhere All At Once Interview: Stephanie Hsu20 May 202200:43:49

Everything Everywhere All At Once is changing the game in a very big way for breakout star Stephanie Hsu.

No synopsis can do the full film justice, but just in case you’ve yet to experience the phenomenon, Everything Everywhere All At Once focuses on Michelle Yeoh’s Evelyn Wang, a woman struggling to keep her family’s laundromat afloat with her husband, Waymond (Ke Huy Quan). Evelyn is so wrapped up in that, filing her taxes, and her father’s (James Hong) arrival from China that she fails to notice how much her daughter Joy (Hsu) really needs her. As though things couldn’t get more complicated, in comes another version of her husband, Waymond from the “Alphaverse.” The multiverse is in danger, and he thinks that Evelyn has the power to save it.

Everything Everywhere All At Once began racking up positive reviews out of its SXSW world premiere and gained even more before hitting theaters on March 25th. From there, the film's star continued to soar, inspiring many to give this wacky multiverse adventure oozing with heart a go. In fact, it’s currently getting mighty close to becoming A24’s highest-grossing release at the domestic box office. It’s a marvel of a movie that could and should continue to make waves through 2022.

Admittedly, I was a little late to the game on Everything Everywhere All At Once, only catching the film two weeks into its theatrical release, but you can bet the first thing I did when I got home from the screening was send the necessary emails to get Stephanie Hsu on an episode of Collider Ladies Night.

Check out this episode of the show to hear all about Hsu's journey from thinking she'd stick to experimental theater to booking roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Everything Everywhere All at once!

Melissa Benoist Interview: From Glee & Supergirl to The Girls on the Bus19 Jun 202400:37:24

Melissa Benoist stepped into the Hollywood spotlight in a big way via Glee. Then she cemented herself as a bonafide star and headliner with Supergirl. Now she continues to broaden her range and her industry skill set by starring in and producing the hugely entertaining political drama, The Girls on the Bus.

Created by Amy Chozick and Julie Plec, The Girls on the Bus is inspired by Chozick's memoir, Chasing Hillary. It follows four female journalists played by Benoist, Carla Gugino, Christina Elmore and Natasha Behnam, who are on the campaign trail with aspiring presidential candidates. They all have vastly different backgrounds and goals, but find themselves supporting one another as they navigate career pressures, personal challenges, and frustrations with flawed presidential hopefuls.

As Collider’s Taylor Gates noted in her review, “[Girls on the Bus] handles serious topics, from sexism and racism to abortion and corruption, in a way that feels both raw and palatable while never taking away from the show’s watchability and enjoyability,” and I must agree. Powered by its perfectly assembled core four and their infectious charm, Girls on the Bus quickly earned my investment and heart. Given that, it’ll probably come as no surprise that the show’s cancellation was a massive disappointment. However, that’s not stopping Benoist from celebrating what she and the team achieved.

Benoist took the time to join me for a Collider Ladies Night conversation to recap her road to Girls on the Bus, to discuss her collaboration with her three top-tier co-stars, and to explain why the show’s cancellation will have zero impact on how she looks back on the experience of making it and the final product she and the team produced.

Not only is Lane a one-of-a-kind talent, but she's also had a one-of-a-kind journey in the industry thus far. Even after American Honey's success, Lane had some apprehensions about pursuing a career in Hollywood, but fortunately, she had supportive forces like Riley Keough and producer Lars Knudsen in her corner nudging her forward.

Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about that first encounter with Arnold, Lane's first auditions after American Honey's success, why her Spider-Man audition didn't feel quite right but Loki sounded like an MCU project that would be a great fit, why Conversations with Friends felt like a project well worth committing to, and loads more!

Imogen Poots on Her Journey to Prime Video's 'Outer Range'06 May 202200:42:00

With Outer Range’s eight-episode run on Prime Video now complete, Imogen Poots took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit her journey from her earliest credits to joining the cast of Amazon’s supernatural Western.

Outer Range puts the spotlight on Josh Brolin’s Royal, the head of the Abbott family who’s doing everything he can to keep their ranch up and running. Royal’s already got quite a bit to sort through when the show opens, but things get increasingly complicated when he gives a backpacker (Poots) the OK to camp on his property and then even more so when he discovers an enormous, inexplicable hole on his land.

As always on Collider Ladies Night, we made our way through as much of Poots’ filmography as possible in an effort to pinpoint the steps needed to reach her latest release, Outer Range. Many lessons were learned along the way, but some of the projects that made the biggest impression were the ones that helped her figure out the types of stories she wanted most wanted to tell, projects like Green Room, Need for Speed, and Roadies.

Hear all about that and dig into some very curious Outer Range spoilers with Poots on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

Jessica Williams’ Journey From Daily Show Correspondent to Wizarding World Witch11 Apr 202200:39:55

With Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore due out in theaters on April 15th, Jessica Williams joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to discuss how she went from Daily Show correspondent to picking up the wand and joining the Wizarding World franchise.

After making a brief cameo appearance in The Crimes of Grindelwald, Williams’ Professor Eulalie Hicks becomes a main player in the third film of the Fantastic Beasts series. She’s a charms professor at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who has a history with Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore. When Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) starts making new moves to assume control of the Wizarding World, Dumbledore knows he won’t be able to stop him alone so assembles a team of the best of the best in an effort to take him down. That team includes someone who’s especially skilled in defensive magic, Williams’ Lally.

Williams’ star soared when she became the youngest Daily Show correspondent in 2012. Judy Greer Revisits Her Career from Jawbreaker to The Thing About Pam01 Apr 202200:30:29

It’s time for a Collider Ladies Night bucket list guest! With The Thing About Pam in the midst of its run on NBC (and streaming on Hulu), Judy Greer took the time to join Perri for an extended interview.

The Thing About Pam is based on the true story of Pam Hupp, played by Renee Zellweger. When her best friend Betsy (Katy Mixon) is found dead in her home, Betsy’s husband Russ (Glenn Fleshler) becomes the prime suspect when all eyes should really be on Pam. However, when prosecutor Leah Askey (Greer) takes the case, her determination to win leaves Pam free and clear to continue manipulating the situation and hatching deadly schemes along the way.

It’s flat-out impossible to cover Greer's mile-long filmography in a single episode of Collider Ladies Night — or even a fraction of it for that matter. But we did touch on a number of pivotal experiences as she made her way from 1999's Jawbreaker to starring alongside Renee Zellweger in The Thing About Pam. An actor is lucky enough to have one hit show, but here we go again for Danielle Brooks! After seven seasons with the Netflix smash Orange Is the New Black, Brooks is a main player in one of the hottest new shows of 2022, James Gunn’s Peacemaker.

Brooks plays Leota Adebayo in the HBO Max DC series. She’s Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) daughter, but would much rather be running an animal shelter than contributing to the Project Butterfly task force. Trouble is, Adebayo needs to support her family, so she’s got no choice but to get into her mother’s line of work. No one on the team is especially thrilled about being assigned to work alongside Peacemaker (John Cena), but it’s Adebayo who manages to strike up a connection with the impulsive and often obnoxious anti-hero, encouraging him to change for the better.

In celebration of Peacemaker’s stellar run on HBO Max, Brooks joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to explain how she went from being a 15-year-old aspiring actor admiring a performance of The Color Purple on Broadway to starring in a DC adaptation alongside John Cena. Hear all about her time studying at The Juilliard School, working on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, her hopes for Peacemaker Season 2, and more in this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

House of the Dragon Interview: Eve Best Teases the Last Scene She Filmed for Season 215 Jun 202400:23:28

Eve Best is an acting ace. She’s got loads of impressive screen credits to her name and is a theater legend with two Tony Award nominations, a Drama Desk Award win and a Laurence Olivier Award win as well. Now she’s an absolute force on HBO’s House of the Dragon. It probably goes without saying, she’s always been a dream guest for Collider Ladies Night, but a recent Ladies Night guest skyrocketed Best to being a top priority. While chatting with Jessica Gunning for Baby Reindeer, a performance that appears to have put her on the path to snagging an Emmy nomination, Gunning pinpointed an actor who made a major impression on her during the early days of her career. That actor? Eve Best. Soon after chatting with Gunning, interview opportunities for House of the Dragon Season 2 popped up, and I jumped on it.

Best plays Rhaenys, the Queen Who Never Was, in the Game of Thrones prequel series. Despite having a number of qualities that’d make her an ideal leader, Rhaenys was passed over to succeed King Jaehaerys I for being a woman. She eventually comes to terms with the decision and attempts to serve Westeros valiantly as a dragon rider and as the wife of Lord Corlys Velaryon of Driftmark (Steve Toussaint). Despite Viserys (Paddy Considine) naming Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) his heir, Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) takes the throne, solidifying the stark divide between the Greens, those who support Aegon, and the Blacks, those who continue to back Rhaenyra’s claim. As a member of Team Black, Rhaenys begins Season 2 doing what she can to keep her side safe while strategizing for all-out war.

With House of the Dragon Season 2 kicking off its highly anticipated run on Sunday, June 16, I recently sat down with Best for a Ladies Night conversation to discuss how she’s honed her craft over the years, and Rhaenys’ approach to being a strong leader with war brewing in Westeros.

Sarah Silverman Interview: Her Journey from Saturday Night Live to Marry Me13 Feb 202200:28:05

Sarah Silverman’s had a one-of-a-kind journey in this industry, making the most of the exceptional comedic chops that have been on display since day one and also building on that skill set more and more with each new project. With her newest feature film, Marry Me, now in theaters and available to stream on Peacock, Silverman took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to retrace her steps from her earliest inspirations to her latest releases.

As for Marry Me, that one stars Jennifer Lopez as Kat Valdez, a music superstar who’s also a power couple with the hugely popular Bastian (Maluma). Just before getting married in front of a massive concert crowd, Kat comes to learn that Bastian’s been cheating on her. She goes back out on stage anyway and spirals, making the impulsive decision to marry someone in the audience instead — Owen Wilson’s Charlie Gilbert. The spontaneous stunt turns into so much more when the two really do develop feelings for one another. But, can the connection last when they come from such different worlds?

Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about why Silverman chose work over college, her one-year run on Saturday Night Live, why Sarah Polley's Take This Waltz made such a big impression on her, what wowed her most while watching Lopez work, and so much more!

Joey King Interview: From Child Star to Producing Powerhouse on The In Between11 Feb 202200:30:09

Joey King is proving to be quite the force in this industry. Her incredible range and screen presence have been on display since day one, but now she’s also using her years of experience to further influence her projects for the better behind the scenes, projects like her latest feature film, The In Between.

King leads the Paramount+ release as Tessa, a teenager who bounced around foster homes for quite some time growing up and now believes finding “the one” just isn’t in the cards for her. However, then she meets Kyle Allen’s Skylar. There’s an instant spark between the two that blossoms into a love story one could only dream of. But then their romance is cut short when they’re involved in a car accident and only Tessa survives. While struggling to cope with what happened, Tessa becomes convinced that Skylar is trying to contact her from the afterlife.

With The In Between now available to watch on Paramount+, King joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to retrace her steps in the industry and pinpoint exactly how she built up the skillset to both headline and produce a feature film.

Taissa Farmiga's Journey from a Much Needed Nudge from Her Sister Vera to HBO's The Gilded Age04 Feb 202200:41:05

I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with Taissa Farmiga quite a bit over the years for interviews, but a Collider Ladies Night conversation is different. Farmiga’s had a one-of-a-kind journey in this industry and during our 40-minute chat, we covered as much of it as possible leading up to her latest project, the HBO series, The Gilded Age

From Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age kicks off in the United States in 1882, a time that involved a significant conflict between old money and new ways of amassing enormous fortunes. In the Upper East Side of New York City, the former group includes the Van Rhijn household, led by Christine Baranski’s Agnes van Rhijn. Agnes holds tight to the past and keeps an eye out for newcomers who don’t belong, like her new neighbors the Russells.

That’s where we meet Farmiga’s character, Gladys Russell. She’s the teenage daughter of George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha (Carrie Coon). At this point, Gladys should have made her society debut, but Bertha refuses to let Gladys out of lockdown until she can fill her massive ballroom for the occasion. Trouble is, given that the Russells are new to the area, Bertha is finding it rather difficult to earn a place in the local elite social circle.

During our Collider Ladies Night chat, we discussed when her sister, Vera Farmiga, encouraged her to join the cast of her directorial debut, Higher Ground, what it was like joining the ensemble of American Horror Story, how she scored her role in The Gilded Age and so much more!

Maddie Ziegler Interview: The Fallout, West Side Story & Passion for Acting28 Jan 202200:39:39

I know it’s only the end of January, but trust me when I tell you Maddie Ziegler’s new movie is a special one. I had the opportunity to catch The Fallout at SXSW 2021, and the movie has been on my mind ever since. Had it received a 2021 release, it likely would have been a favorite of the year. Now I'm hopeful that will happen in 2022.

The film marks Megan Park’s feature screenwriting and directing debut. Ziegler stars alongside Jenna Ortega as Mia and Vada, respectively. The two aren’t especially close, but when they find themselves in the high school restroom together during a shooting, the shared experience sparks a strong connection that plays a significant role in their efforts to cope with what happened, move in new directions, and attempt to forge forward.

Ziegler’s got a staggering list of accomplishments for someone who’s only 19-years-old, and she shows no signs of slowing down while trying to make the most of both of her passions, dancing and acting. On this episode of Collider Ladies Night, Ziegler looks back on her journey with Dance Moms, discovering her passion for acting, scoring a role in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, working with Ortega on The Fallout, and so much more!

Peacemaker Interview: How Jennifer Holland's The Suicide Squad Role Became Emilia Harcourt22 Jan 202200:40:26

Jennifer Holland’s had an exciting and mighty unique journey in the DC realm thus far. Initially, she was going to play “Comms Tech 2” in The Suicide Squad. That role remained a supporting character but eventually was given a name linking her to the comics, Emilia Harcourt. Now? Harcourt is a main character in James Gunn’s Peacemaker series on HBO Max. Talk about an ideal evolution for a franchise character!

After contributing to the takeover during Project Starfish in The Suicide Squad, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) opted to punish Harcourt for double-crossing her by assigning Harcourt to a mission that requires her to work with John Cena’s Peacemaker. Now, not only must Harcourt complete yet another challenging mission, Project Butterfly, but she’s got to do so with someone she finds insufferable.

With Peacemaker in the midst of its eight-episode run on HBO Max, Holland joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to discuss the series, and also to explain how her journey in the industry led her to it.

Yellowjackets Star Melanie Lynskey Talks Working with Sophie Nélisse, Secrecy and Spoilers17 Jan 202200:49:45

You don’t get better than the casting of Showtime’s Yellowjackets. The series takes place in 1996 and 2021, following what happens when a high school girls soccer team’s plane crashes on the way to nationals and they’re forced to do whatever it takes to survive out in the wilderness for 19 months. Then, the 2021 material shows how the survivors are coping with what they’ve done as they try to outrun a tragedy that’s seemingly always on the verge of consuming them all over again.

In celebration of Yellowjackets’ phenomenal Season 1 run on Showtime, Melanie Lynskey joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night. Yes, much of the focus was on Yellowjackets, but that's just one of many stellar titles on Lynskey’s filmography. In addition to discussing working on Season 1 and some Yellowjackets spoilers, Lynskey revisited working on Heavenly Creatures, collaborating with Steven Soderbergh, how Miranda Harcourt changed the game for her career and so much more!

Scream 5 Star Melissa Barrera Details Her Journey from Telenovelas to Woodsboro15 Jan 202200:25:09

Melissa Barrera is taking over. She made a huge impression in the Starz series, Vida, but her star soared especially high in 2021 with the release of Jon M. Chu’s electric adaptation of In the Heights. Now the trend continues via a headlining role in the new Scream movie.

Barrera joins the iconic slasher franchise as Samantha Carpenter, a former Woodsboro resident who returns home when she finds out her sister’s been attacked by Ghostface. Along the way, Sam crosses paths with the Scream series big three, Neve Campbell’s Sidney, Courteney Cox’s Gale and David Arquette’s Dewey.

While it may seem as though Barrera’s a fairly new rising star in Hollywood, she’s been mighty busy in this industry for quite some time now and a Collider Ladies Night interview gave us the opportunity to revisit some of those other experiences that paved the way to Scream 2022.

Check out what Barrera had to say about her earliest dream of becoming a pop star, the invaluable lessons she learned from telenovelas, how she'd rank the first four Scream movies and more in this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

Cobra Kai Season 4 Interview: Peyton List Revisits Her Journey from Disney Channel to Netflix06 Jan 202200:42:37

The entire Cobra Kai ensemble shines every single season, but there’s no denying that Peyton List is a major standout as Tory in Season 4.

When we first met the character in Season 2, Tory joins Cobra Kai and develops an intense rivalry with Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser). And who can blame her? Accusing Tory of stealing her mother’s wallet wasn’t really an ideal first encounter. Things continue to escalate between the two when Tory strikes up a relationship with Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) only to spot him rekindling his romance with Sam shortly after.

While the school brawl at the end of Season 2 might have seemed to be the peak of this conflict, things only intensify in Season 3 with Sam struggling to cope with the extremely violent nature of the fight and Tory taking advantage of Sam’s state every chance she gets. Ultimately though, Sam manages to stand up to Tory in the Season 3 finale and best her during the fight in the LaRusso home. Would that incident put Tory on an even darker path? Is she so consumed by rage that she’ll never be able to find her way back?

With Cobra Kai Season 4 now available to stream on Netflix, List took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night and we dug deep into Tory’s evolution throughout the series. But, as with all episodes of Ladies Night, we also went way back to List’s pre-Cobra Kai days to get a better sense of the steps she took in order to hone her craft to deliver this big on the hit Netflix show.

Hear about it all on this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

Mackenzie Davis Career Interview: From Breathe In to HBO Max's Station Eleven20 Dec 202100:45:47

Mackenzie Davis has been a favorite for a good while now, but it’s especially exciting to see her filmography continue to grow with such a wide variety of projects, working with some of the most striking voices in the industry. Now that resume grows with HBO Max’s extremely stirring adaption of Emily St. John Mandel’s novel, Station Eleven, from showrunner Patrick Somerville with episodes directed by Hiro Murai, Jeremy Podeswa, Helen Shaver and Lucy Tcherniak.

The story begins with the world on the cusp of a significant flu outbreak. The pandemic devastates civilization, completely obliterating the technology we rely on and our way of life in general. Twenty years in the future, Davis’ character, Kirsten, is part of the Traveling Symphony, a group of actors and musicians who travel the region performing Shakespeare for various communities. Even though the group seems to have found great purpose in this new world, an unexpected encounter challenges them to reconsider what to hold onto from the path and how best to create a new future.

With Station Eleven in the midst of its rollout on HBO Max, Davis joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to talk about the mini-series and also to revisit the path she took to get there. Hear all about Davis' experience booking Drake Doremus' Breathe In, working with Ridley Scott on The Martian, making Station Eleven and so much more in this interview!

The Witcher Interview: Anya Chalotra Recalls the Day on Set She Thought "I Can’t Do This"18 Dec 202100:20:59

No, Yennefer didn’t have peak confidence all throughout Season 1 of The Witcher, but Anya Chalotra seemed to be oozing with it while playing the character. However, while on an episode of Collider Ladies Night in celebration of the launch of Season 2 of the hit Netflix series, Chalotra admitted that wasn’t really the case. In fact, there was a point during the filming of Season 1 when she had to call a mentor for help.

For about half of the season, Yennefer is a young woman struggling with a curved spine and facial paralysis who’s often ridiculed. When it’s discovered that Yennefer has magical abilities, she’s taken to Aretuza to study to become a mage. After much struggle, Yennefer not only ascends but also insists that the Aretuza enchanter change her physical differences. He does and she’s reborn, stepping back out into the world buzzing with power and confidence.

Prior to The Witcher, Chalotra’s screen credits were limited to the drama series Wanderlust and the BBC One mystery mini series The ABC Murders. The Witcher was on another level. During our Ladies Night chat, Chalotra highlighted one key piece of advice she received when making the leap to such a substantial production.

Hear all about that, what it was like filming Yen's most pivotal scenes of the new season and so much more on this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

Adria Arjona Interview: From Emerald City to Hit Man & Star Wars07 Jun 202400:31:52

Adria Arjona has been showing off her impeccable craft and great range for years now, but Hit Man might be one of her most impressive performances of the bunch. She isn’t playing a femme fatale in the film, rather, she’s playing a woman playing a femme fatale to better suit what she thinks her new beau wants to see in a potential partner — which is exactly what he’s doing to her. It's a mighty complicated concept that demands the most refined screenplay and deft performances.

Glen Powell headlines Richard Linklater’s Hit Man as the title character, in a sense. Powell’s Gary isn’t a hit man, but rather, a “hit man.” He’s a college professor who moonlights for the New Orleans Police Department by posing as a hit man in attempt to catch people trying to off an enemy. It turns out, Gary is quite good at the gig, effortlessly adapting his image to the type of hit man he thinks his target would best respond to. However, one target throws him for a loop — Arjona’s Madison. Madison is struggling with an abusive husband and sees no way out, so tries to hire Gary, posing as Ron, to kill him. Trouble is, Gary winds up falling for Madison, and she winds up falling for him, too — but as Ron.

Hit Man is an utterly delightful and hugely entertaining neo-noir, one that required maximum precision to pull off. Powell isn’t the only one playing a person putting on a persona in the film. So is Arjona. Pulling off such a performance in a way that holds tight to the grounded challenges that put their characters in these positions is no easy task, but Arjona excels tackling the challenge. While Madison was likely a strong character on the page, there's no doubt that Arjona's work is what makes her soar.

How’d Arjona acquire the skill set to genre jump, entertain and craft a deeply human character all at once? That’s exactly what we discussed during our Collider Ladies Night interview in celebration of the release of Hit Man, which is now available to stream on Netflix.

Janina Gavankar on Getting Her Start in Barbershop and Swinging Big as Ren on Big Sky17 Dec 202100:47:37

I was already a big believer that Janina Gavankar is a wildly talented individual that this industry needs more of, but after our 50-minute Collider Ladies Night chat, I’ve also come to the conclusion that she can (and should) do just about anything.

At the moment, Gavankar is making the most of a downright delicious role in Big Sky Season 2. The search for Ronald Pergman (Brian Geraghty) is still ongoing, but Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) and Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) also get caught up in a case that involves some missing drugs and a whole lot of money. That’s where Gavankar’s Ren comes in. She’s part of the crime family tied to the drugs and money, and is sent to Helena to investigate.

With Big Sky celebrating its winter finale, Gavankar took some time to join us for an extended Collider Ladies Night conversation — but it still wasn’t enough! She’s a creator with an especially high drive and wide range of passions, making it impossible to cover it all in one episode. Not only is Gavankar part of quite a few pop culture phenomena including Star Wars, True Blood and Arrow, but she’s also a passionate gamer, a trained musician and someone with a whole slew of stories involving unforgettable collaborations that turned into lasting friendships.

Rose McIver on "Breaking Out" with Lovely Bones and the CBS Smash Ghosts26 Nov 202100:42:07

Even as someone who needs the horror genre 365 days a year, I still have that increased itch for fun-loving, feel-good fare during the holiday season. This year, one of the biggest delights paving the way to the holidays and spreading good vibes every step of the way is the new CBS sitcom, Ghosts

Inspired by the British series of the same name, the CBS show stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as Samantha and Jay, a couple who opt to leave their city life behind when they inherit an old country estate, hoping to renovate the place and turn it into a bed and breakfast. However, much to their surprise, soon after moving in, they come to learn that the house is actually occupied — by ghosts. And much to the ghosts’ surprise, they discover that Samantha is the first living person they’ve ever met who can actually see and hear them.

With Ghosts currently powering through its first season, McIver joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night. As always, we did focus a good deal on her latest accomplishment, but also took the time to look back and revisit her most pivotal moments and discussed how they influenced her career path and her craft moving forward.

Check out what she had to say about Xena: Warrior Princess, Power Rangers RPM, The Lovely Bones, Once Upon a Time, Ghosts, and more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

Rosamund Pike Interview: How Gone Girl "Let Out the Crazy" and Why She Needed Wheel of Time's Moiraine Right Now21 Nov 202100:25:06

Rosamund Pike has accomplished quite a bit over the years. She joined the James Bond film franchise, was nominated for an Academy Award for her work in Gone Girl, scored the Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her performance in State of the Union, delivered exceptional work in Hostiles, A Private War, I Care a lot and so much more. But even with all of that, Amazon’s The Wheel of Time marks a major first for Pike — it’s her very first time leading a live-action series.

She stars as Moiraine, a member of the Aes Sedai, a group of women with the ability to wield the “One Power.” Men are forbidden from channeling this magic because all previous attempts have had devastating results. Now, Moiraine is on the hunt for the Dragon Reborn, an extremely powerful individual prophesized to save or destroy the world. She comes to suspect that the Dragon Reborn is one of five people living in the small town of Two Rivers - Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), Egwene al'Vere (Madeleine Madden), Mat Cauthon (Barney Harris) or Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins). The first season covers Moiraine’s attempt to lead them on a treacherous trek back to the Aes Sedai home base, the White Tower in Tar Valon.

With the first three episodes of The Wheel of Time now available to watch, Pike joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to celebrate the show and to revisit her journey from first getting discovered at the National Youth Theatre to headlining a blockbuster-level Amazon series.

Check out was Pike had to say about Die Another Day, Gone Girl, Doom, The Wheel of Time and so much more on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

Mckenna Grace Interview: How She Accomplished So Much at Just 15-Years-Old18 Nov 202100:27:59

Mckenna Grace is 15-years-old and already has dozens of credits and an Emmy nomination to her name. She broke out big starring opposite Chris Evans in Gifted, joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing a young Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, is featured in the downright stellar Haunting of Hill House on Netflix, delivers a truly jaw-dropping performance in The Handmaid’s Tale and now she’s a key part of the future of the Ghostbusters franchise.

Grace plays Phoebe in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. When her family is forced to move to Summerville, Oklahoma and into a creepy old farmhouse her grandfather left them, Phoebe comes to learn that he has quite the legacy. Her grandfather was a Ghostbuster. When Phoebe and her brother Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) come to learn what he was busy doing out there in Summerville, it becomes their responsibility to use the tools he left behind to help save the world.

Having someone like Grace on Collider Ladies Night is a blessing and a curse. As you’ll hear in the video at the top of this article, I’m a big believer she’s one of the most talented actors in the business. Having the opportunity to discuss how she first discovered her passion for acting, how she scored her first Hollywood gigs, what it was like collaborating with other next-level creators like Octavia Spencer, Mike Flanagan, James Wan and more was the ultimate treat. The curse? Even with an extended interview slot, there isn’t nearly enough time to highlight all of Grace’s accomplishments.

We did get to a whole bunch of them though! Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about Grace's experience on Gifted, The Haunting of Hill House, The Handmaid's Tale, her love of skating, working on Ghostbusters: Afterlife and so much more.

Last Night in Soho: Thomasin McKenzie on Why Method Acting Is Too Dangerous For Her29 Oct 202100:30:45

If you like to keep up with the most promising rising stars, Thomasin McKenzie better be on your list. She “broke out” with her stellar performance opposite Ben Foster in 2018’s Leave No Trace and hasn’t stopped delivering especially big since. She starred in the Academy Award winning film Jojo Rabbit, was at the heart of a mighty impressive ensemble in Old, she’s in Jane Campion's upcoming awards season contender The Power of the Dog, and also headlines one of my personal favorite films of the year, Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho.

McKenzie plays Eloise in the psychological thriller. She dreams of becoming a fashion designer and is thrilled to get the opportunity to study her craft in school in London. She moves to the big city to start her future, but finds herself caught up in the past. Ellie has the ability to connect to the 1960s, and more specifically to Anya Taylor-Joy’s Sandie, an aspiring star looking for her big break. Ellie is enamored and inspired by Sandie, but soon comes to realize there are some extremely dark sides to Sandie's seemingly dreamy 1960s existence.

With Last Night in Soho now in theaters, McKenzie joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to retrace her steps in the industry thus far. We discussed one of her very first films, what it was like breaking out with Leave No Trace, working with Wright on Last Night in Soho and so much more. Enjoy!

Victoria Pedretti Gets Emotional Revisiting Hill House and Discusses You Season 316 Oct 202100:22:47

Victoria Pedretti is back on Collider Ladies Night for You Season 3! Back in October, we had an extended conversation about her journey in the industry thus far, but now it’s time to dig a little deeper, play some games and also discuss what Love goes through in the new season of You.

Olivia Thirlby Revisits Juno, Dredd and Details Her Very Unusual Casting Process for Y: The Last Man05 Oct 202100:41:53

Olivia Thirlby just added a mighty exciting title to her filmography, and it was a title that was a bit unexpected for her. It’s FX’s Y: The Last Man.

Based on the DC Comics’ series from Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, the show covers what happens when an apocalyptic event kills every mammal with a Y chromosome minus two individuals — Yorick Brown (Ben Schnetzer) and his monkey, Ampersand. With the world in disarray, survivors do what they can to rebuild and carve out a better path forward. For Thirlby’s character, Yorick’s sister Hero Brown, that means doing what she can to keep herself and her best friend Sam (Elliot Fletcher) safe while juggling the sting of the rift between her and her mother (Diane Lane) and also the weight of a very traumatic pre-event experience.

With Y: The Last Man now well into its Season 1 run, Thirlby took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night. Given how much she’s accomplished over the years, there was a lot to cover including her experience making her first feature, The Secret, working with a Diablo Cody script on Juno and addressing the continuing sequel enthusiasm for Dredd. You can hear about all of that and her experience bringing Hero Brown to screen in Y: The Last Man in this episode of Collider Ladies Night!

Vanessa Hudgens Interview: Her Evolution from High School Music to “Gritty, Hard Parts"29 Sep 202100:33:14

Vanessa Hudgens has achieved quite a bit over the years, but her latest accomplishment marks a very big first, something she’s been eager to do for a good while now — voice a character in an animated feature.

Hudgens is the voice behind Sunny in My Little Pony: A New Generation. She's an Earth Pony who’s determined to find a way to bring the Earth Ponies, Unicorns and Pegasi together again. Trouble is, each species lives separately and has allowed false assumptions, fear and mistrust to continue to drive them apart. However, with the help of a few new friends — Unicorn Izzy (Kimiko Glenn), Pegasi Pipp (Sofia Carson) and Zipp (Liza Koshy), and fellow Earth Pony Hitch (James Marsden) — Sunny might finally be able to bring them all together and restore magic to Equestria in the process.

With My Little Pony: A New Generation now available to stream on Netflix, Hudgens joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to retrace her steps from her earliest credits to her first animated feature. We discussed the High School Musical films, Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, Lin Manuel-Miranda’s feature directorial debut Tick, Tick... Boom!, and so much more!

Check it all out in this edition of Collider Ladies Night.

Midnight Mass: Kate Siegel Explains How She Met Mike Flanagan24 Sep 202100:33:29

I’ve been a massive fan of Kate Siegel’s since 2016's Hush and that enthusiasm for her talent has only grown since the release of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and now Midnight Mass. Given how much I admire her work, it was the ultimate treat to have Siegel on Collider Ladies Night to learn more about how she got started in the industry and how her craft evolved from project to project.

Siegel plays Erin Greene in Midnight Mass. She grew up in the small, isolated community on Crockett Island, but ultimately made the move to the mainland. However, she eventually comes to decide it’s best if she returned to Crockett to build a new life for herself and for her baby-on-the-way there.

During our Collider Ladies Night conversation, Siegel shared a good deal about her earliest inspirations, her experience studying acting at Syracuse University and how she almost switched to a career in international finance before meeting the person who’d wind up changing her life on screen and off, Mike Flanagan.

Check out what she had to say about that, filming an epic jump scare in Haunting of Hill House, how Midnight Mass evolved from novel to Netflix show and more in this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

Hazbin Hotel Interview: Erika Henningsen on Playing Charlie (& Being Charlie)25 May 202400:52:24

There’s a multitude of reasons why Hazbin Hotel became Prime Video’s largest global debut for a new animated series. An especially big one, however? That voice cast. Creator Vivienne Medrano and her team hit it big casting every single character in the show, but there’s one in particular that’s a staggeringly perfect match; Erika Henningsenis Charlie Morningstar.

Hazbin Hotel is largely set in Hell where Henningsen’s Charlie, the daughter of Lucifer (voiced by Jeremy Jordan), is fed up with Heaven’s treatment of the souls in Hell. Due to overpopulation, once a year, an army of angels led by Adam (Alex Brightman) swoop down from Heaven and exterminate as many sinners as possible. In an effort to save her people and give them the second chance she thinks they deserve, Charlie creates the Hazbin Hotel, a place where sinners can be rehabilitated and then ascend to Heaven.

In celebration of Hazbin Hotel Season 1’s epic run on Prime Video, a run that sparked an enormous diehard fanbase and deserves some serious Emmy season love, Henningsen joined me for a Collider Ladies Night chat to revisit her road to Hazbin, to discuss her experience bringing Charlie to screen, and to tease what the future holds for the character.

Dear Evan Hansen: Kaitlyn Dever on What Made Ben Platt the Ideal Scene Partner23 Sep 202100:30:54

It’s always a delight chatting with Kaitlyn Dever, but it was especially exciting to finally welcome her to Collider Ladies Night! Dever is currently celebrating the release of Dear Evan Hansen this weekend, but she’s had an especially exciting and very busy journey to this highly anticipated film.

The movie is the big screen adaptation of the Tony Award winning musical that sees Ben Platt returning to the title role. Evan Hansen is a high school student struggling with anxiety. His therapist suggests he write letters to himself, but one day, a troubled, school outcast named Connor (Colton Ryan) takes one of those personal and very private letters. Soon after, Connor takes his own life and when Connor’s mother (Amy Adams) finds Evan’s letter, she assumes Connor wrote it to Evan and that they were close friends. Evan plays along and perpetuates the lie in an attempt to ease her pain, and do the same for Connor's sister, Zoe (Dever), as well.

During our Collider Ladies Night conversation, Dever took some time to revisit the beginnings of her career and offer some insight into how her hopes and expectations for “making it” in the industry have changed. Check out this edition of Ladies Night to hear all about some of her earliest auditions, including Justified, what it was like working with Kathryn Bigelow on Detroit, what made Ben Platt a standout scene partner on Dear Evan Hansen and loads more!

Sex Education 3: Aimee Lou Wood Shares the Vital Advice for Doing Sex Scenes17 Sep 202100:35:28

Sex Education is a must-watch show and Aimee Lou Wood is a must-follow rising star in it. The Netflix series focuses on a group of students at Moordale Secondary School trying to figure out how to fit in, grow up and find themselves. One of the most beautiful things about the show is that it features a diverse cast and explores a wide variety of very human challenges with humor, heart and pathos.

Wood’s character, Aimee, begins her Sex Education journey by figuring out who her true friends are in Season 1. Wood is a scene stealer in the role right out the gate, but the work she delivers the following season is on another level. In Season 2, Aimee is sexually assaulted and the way the show explores how one might process such an experience is incredibly layered and powerful. Rather than keep the storyline confined to an episode or two, Sex Education recognizes the fact that such trauma isn’t something one can quickly leave behind. In Season 3, Aimee is still working to understand the incident and its effects on her with Wood continuing to bring that story to life on screen with such sincerity and nuance.

Check out this edition of Collider Ladies Night to hear all about Wood's experience studying at RADA, how she scored the role of Aimee on Sex Education, lessons learned from the show's intimacy coordinators, what it was like winning a BAFTA, where she thinks Aimee's head is at at the end of Sex Education Season 3, and so much more!

Mary Elizabeth Winstead Interview: From Sky High Villain to Netflix Assassin11 Sep 202100:28:51

Collider Ladies Night recently celebrated its very first returning guestKaren Gillan for Gunpowder Milkshake. Now the show welcomes back its second returnee, Mary Elizabeth Winstead! Winstead swung by the Collider studio for an episode of Ladies Night back in 2019 for the release of Gemini Man and now she’s on the show again in honor of her new Netflix movie, Kate.

Winstead headlines the film as the title character, a skilled assassin who winds up being targeted herself. When Kate realizes she’s been poisoned, she sets out to track down who did it. Kate is essentially non-stop action with Winstead at the heart of almost every single scene. As though that isn't challenging enough, Winstead and the team behind Kate hit a little bump in that road that called for Winstead to step it up with her stuntwork -- more than ever before.

On this episode of Collider Ladies Night, Winstead details the challenges faced while making Kate and explains why she wound up doing more of her own stuntwork than you might expect. On top of that, Winstead looks back on fan favorite films like Sky High, Final Destination 3, Birds of Prey and more!
