Between Worlds: Artist Caroline Monnet on Identity, Creation, and Resilience
Season 1 · Episode 1
samedi 26 avril 2025 • Duration 44:11
Welcome to Collection’elle, a new podcast hosted by Eva Hartling about women shaping the world of contemporary art — and about inspiring more women to discover, connect with, and collect the art that moves them.
Have you ever stood in front of a work of art and felt something shift — a pull you couldn’t explain, but knew you couldn’t ignore? This is what Caroline Monnet's work inspires for many.
Caroline is a multidisciplinary artist of Anishinaabe and French ancestry, based in Montreal. Her work spans film, sculpture, and visual art, and has been exhibited around the world — from the Whitney Biennial to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the National Gallery of Canada. Her films have screened at TIFF, Sundance, and Berlinale. She’s been nominated for the Sobey Art Award, received the Prix Pierre-Ayot, and completed a prestigious residency with the Cannes Film Festival’s Cinéfondation.
In this conversation, Caroline shares how she built a creative practice grounded in vision and resilience — and why trusting your instincts is as important in art as it is in life. We talk about navigating multiple worlds, taking risks, and building something deeply personal, political, and lasting.
Collection’elle is a space for stories like Caroline’s — and an invitation to discover the transformative power of collecting.
