04: Man To Man - Modern Dating, Ambition, and the Pressure to Be a Man in 202524 Oct 202501:41:55

In this Man to Man episode, Dan Meredith and Matt Hall and Dan Highcock dive headfirst into what it really means to be a man today exploring dating, confidence, communication, mental health, and the impact of social media on how we connect.

In this powerful Man to Man edition of Coffee With Dan is an open, unfiltered conversation about what it’s like to navigate life, dating, and self-improvement as a man in today’s world.

Modern dating has changed... and not always for the better.

Social media has blurred boundaries, comparison is constant, and everyone’s chasing validation instead of connection. Men are caught between wanting to lead, needing to feel, and not knowing how to express either without being misunderstood.

Dan, Matt and Dan dig into all of it - the pressure to be successful, the confusion around what women really want, the struggle to stay authentic in a highlight-reel culture, and the importance of self-awareness and growth before partnership.

You’ll hear raw stories, relatable insights, and plenty of laughs as they unpack:

  • Why communication is the missing skill most men never learn
  • How social media and dating apps distort confidence and attraction
  • Why authenticity beats strategy when connecting with others
  • The balance between ambition and emotional intelligence
  • What it means to “stack the deck” — and how to create more opportunities without chasing
  • Why self-awareness and boundaries are the foundations of genuine connection
  • How men’s mental health and personal growth are inseparable from better relationships

No bravado. No “alpha” nonsense. Just straight-talking, sometimes hilarious, and surprisingly healing truth about what it means to show up as yourself in a world full of noise.

Listen if you’re ready to:

✔️ Stop performing and start connecting

✔️ Get honest about who you are and what you want

✔️ Build confidence without losing authenticity

✔️ Understand women (and yourself) better

✔️ Laugh, learn, and leave with more perspective than you started with

Playing it safe won’t get you anywhere. In this episode, Dan Meredith and Shaun Bartle get real about what it takes to go all in.

No toe-dipping, no excuses.

From setting ridiculous goals to building discipline and pushing through the grind, this is your wake-up call to stop talking and start doing.

Welcome back to Coffee With Dan, the podcast where we talk business, life, mindset, and all the messy bits in between — unfiltered and straight to the point.

In this episode, Dan Meredith and Shaun Bartle go balls deep into the topic of commitment — what it actually means to go all in, why most people never do, and how setting stupidly big goals (and backing them up with discipline) changes everything.

They cover:
• The difference between going all in and playing it safe
• Why “slow and steady” is only half the truth
• How Dan booked Gary Vaynerchuk for an event that didn’t exist (and made it happen anyway)

• The power of public accountability and going after scary goals
• Why discipline beats motivation every single time
• How to deal with people who try to hold you back — and why their reaction isn’t about you

If you’ve been thinking about doing something — this is your sign to stop thinking and start doing. Don’t just get inspired. Take one action after listening.

Your challenge: Stop dipping your toe. Pick one thing. Go all in for 30 days. Then tell us how it goes — email coffeewithdanpodcast@gmail.com or DM @therealdanmeredith on Instagram.

07: How to Be More Appealing (Without Becoming a Knob)14 Nov 202500:58:11

What makes someone truly attractive — in life, love, and business?

In this episode of Coffee With Dan – Beauty and the Beast, host Dan Meredith (@therealdanmeredith) and Laura Baker (@girlgainzblog) go deep on what really makes people appealing. From dating horror stories and “icks” to self-confidence, self-improvement, and the fine line between arrogance and authenticity, nothing’s off limits.

They talk honestly about why loving yourself doesn’t mean staying the same, why looks matter (but only up to a point), and how the same rules that make you attractive personally also make you magnetic professionally.

You’ll hear:
• The truth about self-image, confidence, and why “love yourself as you are” isn’t the whole story
• How to become more interesting and appealing without faking it
• The savage truth about first impressions, energy, and personality

It’s hilarious, insightful, and painfully relatable. Whether you’re single, taken, or just trying to be less of a walking beige flag, this one’s worth your time.

06: Parenting, Priorities and What Really Matters /w Jay Alderton07 Nov 202500:51:05

What happens when a single bloke and a dad of two sit down to talk about life, family, and success?

In this Body and the Beast edition of Coffee With Dan, host Dan Meredith (@therealdanmeredith) and Jay Alderton (@jayalderton) get brutally honest about parenting, priorities, and the price of success.

Dan spent a weekend surrounded by kids, chaos, and headbutts — and it got him thinking about what it actually takes to build a business, a body, and a life when you’ve got responsibilities bigger than yourself.

Jay opens up about fatherhood, marriage, and how he keeps building businesses while staying present with his kids. They dig into the truth about “balance,” sacrifice, and the myth that everyone has the same 24 hours.

You’ll hear:
• Why self-care isn’t selfish — it’s survival
• How to build a business and still be a good parent
• The difference between priorities and excuses
• Why being present beats being perfect
• How to teach kids through example, not lectures
• The real meaning of sacrifice — and when it’s worth it
• And why hugs, gaming, and silly salmon dives might just be the key to happiness

This one’s for the parents who are doing their best, the entrepreneurs who think they don’t have time, and anyone who’s ever wondered how to juggle ambition with family without losing their mind.

It’s raw, real, and occasionally ridiculous — exactly how life actually feels.

In this Man to Man episode of the Coffee With Dan Podcast, Dan Meredith sits down with Dan Highcock and Matt Hall for one of the most honest conversations they’ve ever had. They dive deep into men’s mental health, vulnerability, purpose, and how to handle life when you feel like you’ve got nothing left in the tank.

They open up about therapy, loss, suicide, relationships, purpose, and what it really means to be a man in today’s world. From childhood trauma to resilience, from “man up” culture to building strong friendships, this is the kind of talk most men never get to have but desperately need to.

You’ll hear:
• Why “man up” doesn’t mean what you think it does
• The real reason so many men stay silent
• How to talk about your mental health without shame
• The cost of bottling everything up
• When to reach out — and how to do it safely
• How your habits, sleep, food and training affect your mind
• Why connection, community, and purpose are essential for happiness
• The tools that actually help when you’re at rock bottom

10: Earn Your Rest, Finish Strong & Set Yourself Up for a Killer 2026 w/ Jay Alderton05 Dec 202500:46:28

December hits different when you’re ambitious. Half the world clocks off; the other half builds momentum.

This Body and the Beast episode of Coffee With Dan is for the ones who still want to finish the year on a high. Dan Meredith (@therealdanmeredith) and Jay Alderton (@jayalderton) sit down to talk about what really happens when you mix business, family, fitness and festive chaos — and why most people waste December when it could be the most powerful month of the year.

This isn’t about working yourself into the ground. It’s about earning your rest, doing the hard things first, and setting yourself up so you hit January ready to roll instead of crawling in hungover and broke. The lads share how they balance discipline with downtime, what reflection actually looks like, and why the gap between Christmas and New Year is pure gold if you use it right.

They talk about the emotional side of December too — guilt, pressure, family expectations, and that creeping sense of “I should be further ahead by now.” You’ll hear practical tools for staying focused without becoming a robot, how to avoid the “I’ll start in January” trap, and the mindset shifts that separate people who coast from people who grow.

There’s laughter, chaos, and a fair bit of honesty about tax bills, mince pies, and why you should probably stop pretending mulled wine counts as hydration. But beneath the laughs is a serious message: if you want a better year, you build it now.

So before you clock off, pour a coffee and listen to this. Because when everyone else is winding down, that’s your chance to get one step ahead.

They cover:
• Why “I’ll start in January” is code for “I’ll quit by February”
• How to enjoy Christmas without undoing your progress
• The 3-week rule for massive results before year-end
• What it means to actually earn rest — not just justify laziness
• How to plan now so you don’t start 2026 in chaos
• Why the gap between Christmas and New Year is a secret weapon
• How to deal with the financial gut-punch of January
• The mindset shift that separates people who grow from those who coast

If you’re serious about starting 2026 ahead of the game, this episode is your blueprint.

11: Setting The Standards /w Laura Baker12 Dec 202501:02:44

In this Beauty and the Beast episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith (@therealdanmeredith) and Laura Baker (@girlgainzblog) get into the messy, funny and brutally honest world of standards — the ones men have, the ones women have, and the ones society piles on top of both.

From what it actually takes for a woman to get ready for a date, to how little effort most men put in, to the very different pressures around ageing, appearance, dating, income and attraction, this episode hits every angle with the usual mix of honesty, chaos and humour.

Dan and Laura talk candidly about beauty expectations, grooming, money, dating culture, confidence, communication, why women feel judged more harshly, why men are now feeling new pressures of their own, and how both genders secretly misunderstand each other. They also dive into age, lifestyle, gym habits, fashion, the shift from partying to carpet cleaner enthusiasm, and why both men and women become more invisible as they get older unless they actively work on themselves.

But beneath all the laughs is a simple takeaway:
Your standards shape your results.

If you want better attention, better partners, better friendships or better opportunities, you have to raise your own standards first.

Here's what you can expect:

00:00 – Intro and welcome
01:00 – The reality of effort: men vs women getting ready
04:30 – Why standards matter more than people admit
07:00 – Ageing, attraction and lifestyle catching up with you
11:00 – Appearance pressure on women vs men
15:00 – Habits, routines and why confidence beats looks
18:30 – What people think is attractive vs what actually is
22:00 – Men putting in the bare minimum
25:00 – How women curate themselves and why men don’t notice

12: Man to Man: When Discipline Turns Into Destruction19 Dec 202500:58:34

In this Man to Man episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith (@therealdanmeredith) sits down with Dan Highcock and Matt Hall for an unfiltered conversation about burnout, pressure, ambition and how high-performing men actually manage it all without snapping.

All three are deep in intense growth seasons — big workloads, big responsibilities and very little margin for error — and they get brutally honest about what burnout really looks like before it hits full collapse. From being constantly “on”, to short tempers, bad sleep, rising caffeine intake and losing patience with people, this episode pulls apart the warning signs most men ignore.

They talk about managing different seasons of life, why balance is a myth, how discipline can help or hurt depending on context, and why copying other people’s routines off the internet is often the fastest way to burn yourself out. There’s a deep dive into non-negotiables versus ideals, flexible routines, permission to rest, intentional sprints of extreme effort, and when it’s actually healthy to go all-in for a defined period of time.

The conversation also covers men’s mental health, the importance of having people you can talk to, why bottling things up makes everything worse, and how simple awareness can stop burnout before it takes you out. Expect real talk, dark humour, practical tools and plenty of laughs along the way.

If you’re ambitious, driven, tired and wondering whether you’re pushing hard enough or pushing too hard, this episode will hit home.

14: Using Downtime Properly: What Most People Waste and Others Win With02 Jan 202600:53:23

This episode of Coffee With Dan was recorded during a quiet downtime window, but the message applies any time life slows down and the noise drops.

Dan talks honestly about how most people waste downtime without realising it. Scrolling, drifting, switching off completely and then wondering why nothing changes when things get busy again. This episode is about using quieter periods properly. Not hustling. Not burning out. Just being intentional instead of passive.

He covers the difference between rest and avoidance, why calm periods are when momentum is actually built, and how small, quiet decisions made when no one is watching often shape what happens next. There’s real talk about money, discipline, planning, standards, and not waiting for motivation to magically appear when life ramps back up.

This isn’t a motivational speech or a productivity lecture. It’s a grounded conversation about awareness. About recognising when you’ve got space and choosing to use it well instead of letting it disappear.

If you’re listening during a slower phase, a lull, or a moment where things feel quieter than usual, this episode will land exactly when it needs to.

13:The Coffee With Dan Christmas Special: Chaos, Truth & No Filters24 Dec 202501:04:15

This is the Coffee With Dan Christmas Special. No scripts. No structure. No pretending to behave.

Dan Meredith is joined by all the regular guests and producer Lianne for a roundtable episode that quickly descends into absolute chaos. What starts as a festive catch-up turns into honest conversations, brutal truths, laugh-out-loud moments and the kind of real talk that only happens when people actually know each other.

They get into what this year really took out of people, what worked, what didn’t, and what nearly broke them. There’s business, fitness, discipline, motivation, social media, going viral for the wrong reasons, and why most people are still hiding behind tactics instead of doing the work. There are lessons buried inside jokes, insights hidden inside stories, and a fair bit of friendly roasting along the way.

Nothing is polished. Nothing is packaged. It’s raw, funny, uncomfortable in places, and very real.

If you’re feeling reflective, burnt out, proud, disappointed, hopeful or all of the above as the year wraps up, this episode will feel familiar. And if Christmas feels heavy for you, you’re not alone.

20: The Valentines Episode13 Feb 202600:59:44

In this Valentine’s special Beauty and the Beast episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Laura Baker pull apart modern dating, attraction, dating apps, messaging etiquette, and the mistakes almost everyone is making.

Using Dan’s favourite mental model, the inversion principle, they flip the question. Instead of asking how to succeed in dating, they ask how to guarantee failure. The answers are brutally honest.

They cover creepiness in DMs, over-persistence, why subtle hints rarely work, and how attraction actually works in the real world versus on social media. There’s a deep dive into dating apps, profile mistakes, over-polished photos, empty bios, copy-and-paste messages, and why “hey” is not a personality.

They also unpack the infamous ‘ick’ factor, why some attraction grows and some never will, how to stack the odds in your favour physically and socially, and why most people overthink dating while under-delivering effort.

Alongside the practical advice, they share real, hilarious, and slightly unhinged dating horror stories. From red tracksuits and prison confessions to surprise third parties in the bedroom, this episode proves that no matter how bad your last date was, it could always have been worse.

They also touch on Valentine’s Day pressure, being single without spiralling, and how to actually enjoy your own company rather than treating singlehood like a failure.

If you’re navigating modern dating, feeling stuck, fed up with apps, or just need reassurance that you’re not alone in the chaos, this episode will hit home.

19: Where’s Your Head At? Getting Out of Your Own Way When Your Mind Is the Problem06 Feb 202600:36:57

In this episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith is joined by co-host Shaun Bartle for a brutally honest conversation about mindset, self-sabotage, and why so many capable people are held back by what’s going on in their own heads.

After running a recent three-week sprint programme, Dan breaks down what shocked him most. Not a lack of skill. Not a lack of opportunity. But the sheer volume of limiting beliefs, fear of judgement, imposter syndrome, and internal noise coming from people who are already doing well on paper.

They talk about why high-IQ, high-potential people often overthink themselves into paralysis, how your inner dialogue quietly dictates your results, and why your brain can be your biggest asset or your worst enemy depending on how you handle it. There is real talk about toxic positivity, when mindset advice helps and when it becomes avoidance, and why sometimes things are genuinely hard and need dealing with directly.

Dan also shares exactly how he got himself out of a personal funk. From controlling what he consumed mentally and physically, rebuilding routine, moving his body first thing in the morning, limiting notifications, and leaning into human connection, to working with a performance psychologist to reframe his thinking and create a clear vision for the future.

This is not a motivational episode. It is a practical one. About awareness, control, and doing the work when your head is trying to convince you not to.

If you feel stuck, flat, frustrated, or like you know what to do but cannot seem to get out of your own way, this episode will land.

17: Body and the Beast: Alcohol, Discipline and the Stories We Tell Ourselves23 Jan 202601:05:29

In this Body and the Beast episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith sits down with Jay Alderton for a brutally honest conversation about alcohol, discipline, identity, and the mental trade-offs people rarely talk about.

Both Dan and Jay share their personal journeys with alcohol, not from a place of preaching or superiority, but from lived experience. They unpack the difference between having a visible problem and having a hidden one, why high-functioning drinking is often the hardest to recognise, and how discipline can quietly turn into avoidance when life gets quieter rather than busier.

The episode explores why moderation works for some people and completely fails for others, how alcohol becomes a coping mechanism for stress, anxiety, overactive minds, and emotional avoidance, and why removing it can force you to confront thoughts and feelings you have been numbing for years. Dan opens up about drinking alone, identity, self-worth, and the internal work sobriety forced him to do, while Jay explains why he could never reduce alcohol without cutting it out completely.

They also talk about social pressure, why people get defensive when others stop drinking, how friendships change, and the practical realities of staying alcohol free while still having a life. From Christmas and poker nights to fitness events, nights out, and discipline loops, this episode pulls apart the stories people tell themselves to justify habits that are slowly costing them more than they realise.

This is not an anti-alcohol episode. It is an honest conversation about awareness, self-control, and stacking the odds in your favour if alcohol has started taking more than it gives.

If you have ever wondered whether your relationship with alcohol is serving you or quietly holding you back, this episode will land.

16: Man to Man: Putting Yourself Out There Without Losing Your Head16 Jan 202600:55:35

In this Man to Man episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith, Dan Highcock, and Matt Hall get honest about what it really means to put yourself out there. Not the motivational poster version. The awkward, nerve-wracking, sometimes cringe reality of it.

They talk openly about rejection, confidence, identity, visibility, and why putting yourself out there does not come naturally to most people, even those who look confident on the surface. From business and career moves to dating, relationships and self-belief, this episode breaks down why avoiding rejection is one of the biggest things holding people back.

The conversation covers performance versus identity, why confidence in one area does not automatically transfer to others, and how repeated exposure builds real confidence over time. There is real talk about fear, embarrassment, online judgement, being seen, being misunderstood, and learning to take hits without letting them define your worth.

Dan shares stories from business, speaking and outreach, Matt opens up about public visibility, TV, and online criticism, and Dan Highcock brings the perspective of performance, pressure and showing up when it matters.

Across it all is a simple message. If you want more from life, you have to be willing to risk hearing no.

This episode is for anyone who knows they are playing smaller than they could be, whether professionally or personally, and needs the push to stop waiting and start acting.

15: Beauty and the Beast: Getting Shit Done When Your Brain Works Against You09 Jan 202601:22:21

In this Beauty and the Beast episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Laura Baker break down how two very different brains can both build successful businesses without forcing themselves into systems that don’t fit.

Dan and Laura have both been self-employed for over 15 years, built multiple six and seven figure businesses, and helped countless others do the same. But they approach productivity, structure and motivation in completely opposite ways. One thrives on big, bold goals and controlled chaos. The other runs on planning, structure and precision.

This episode digs into what actually works when motivation fades. They talk about reverse engineering goals, setting habits that survive low energy days, time blocking without rebelling against your own calendar, and why copying other people’s routines is one of the fastest ways to burn out.

They also cover discipline versus motivation, the lag between effort and results, why consistency beats hacks, and how to build momentum when you feel like nothing is happening. There’s honest talk about outsourcing, paying for shortcuts, rewarding yourself properly, understanding your own rhythms, and why long term success is built quietly over time, not overnight.

Expect practical advice, brutal honesty, real business experience and plenty of off-topic chaos along the way.

If you want to get more done without hating your life or fighting your own brain every day, this episode will land.

18: When January Bites Back: Ambition, Burnout and Staying in One Piece30 Jan 202600:58:35

This episode of Coffee With Dan lands at the point where January motivation starts wearing thin and reality kicks back in.

The routines are harder to stick to. The energy dips. The caffeine goes up. And a lot of driven people start quietly wondering whether they’re pushing hard enough or pushing themselves into the ground.

Dan talks openly about burnout, pressure, ambition and the warning signs most people miss before things properly unravel. From being constantly “on”, to snapping at people, poor sleep, short tempers and convincing yourself that exhaustion is just the price of success, this episode pulls apart what’s actually happening beneath the surface.

It’s a grounded conversation about discipline, seasons of effort, and why balance is usually the wrong goal. Dan digs into the difference between healthy intensity and slow self-destruction, why copying other people’s routines rarely works, and how to spot when you need to adjust before your body or your head forces you to.

If you’re ambitious, tired, and feeling the weight of January more than you expected, this episode will feel familiar. Not to tell you to stop, but to help you keep going without breaking yourself in the process.

24: Stop Asking “Why Me?” Start Asking “What Now?”13 Mar 202600:52:21

Everyone hits moments where life punches them square in the face.

Business struggles.
Relationships ending.
Plans falling apart.
Confidence taking a hit.

And the first question most people ask is the same one:

Why me?

In this episode of the Coffee With Dan Podcast, Dan Meredith sits down with Jay Alderton to talk about the two questions that shape how people respond to adversity.

“Why me?”
and
“What now?”

The first keeps you stuck.

The second moves you forward.

Dan and Jay dig into personal experiences, mindset shifts, and practical ways to take control when things aren’t going your way. They talk about how setbacks can either trap you in frustration or force you to grow, depending on how you respond.

The conversation also covers the realities of building a life you’re proud of, dealing with criticism, learning from mistakes, and developing the resilience needed to keep going when things feel unfair.

If you’ve ever found yourself stuck asking why something happened to you, this episode will challenge you to ask a better question.

Because the people who move forward in life don’t stay stuck in “why me.”

They decide what comes next.

23: The Second New Year: How to Turn the Next 90 Days Into Real Momentum06 Mar 202600:25:49

Most people treat January as the big reset.

New goals. New plans. New motivation.

And then by March… reality kicks in.

In this episode of the Coffee With Dan Podcast, Dan Meredith and Shaun Bartle explain why the real opportunity of the year isn’t January at all. It’s right now.

They call it “The Second New Year.”

The clocks change. The days get longer. Energy shifts. People start thinking about summer. And the next 90 days become one of the most powerful windows of the year for improving your business, your health, and your momentum.

Dan and Shaun break down how to use this period properly. Not just for motivation, but for real action, real revenue, and real results.

They talk about reviewing the first quarter honestly, doubling down on what’s working, reconnecting with old leads, and pushing hard during a window where people are naturally more optimistic and ready to invest in themselves.

The conversation also moves into personal performance and why physical health, confidence, and how you present yourself can directly impact your business, relationships, and opportunities.

If Q1 didn’t go the way you hoped, this episode is your reminder that the year isn’t over.

You’ve still got time to make something big happen.

And the next 90 days might be the best chance you get.

Listen now and decide what you’re going to do with it.

22: Don't Be A Wet Wipe27 Feb 202600:54:27

This week’s Man to Man episode starts with Dan trying to find a “safe home” for his Space Marine helmet… and somehow ends up covering heartbreak, hospital trips, male friendships and resilience.

Yes. It’s that kind of episode.

We talk about what it actually means to “stop being a wet wipe” — and no, it’s not about suppressing emotions or pretending everything’s fine.

It’s about:

– Knowing when you’re having a pity party
– Processing what you’re feeling without living there
– The difference between a shoulder and solutions
– Why men struggle to ask for help
– How humour gets you through dark moments
– What to do after life punches you in the liver
– And the question that matters most: what now?

Dan shares the story of ending up in hospital after ignoring stress for too long.
Matt talks about heartbreak, breakups and learning to recover faster.
Dan H breaks down how resilience is built through reps, not motivation.

This one is honest, messy, funny and uncomfortable in equal measure.

If you’ve been feeling flat, sorry for yourself, stuck, overwhelmed… or you’ve got a mate who clearly is… this is for you.

Have your moment. Then get up.

If you’re tired of the apps, sick of situationships, fresh out of a breakup, or quietly wondering where your person is… this one’s for you.

This isn’t fluffy romance advice.

This is about becoming someone worth choosing.

34: Shy Kids Don't Get Sweets05 Jun 202600:30:21

Most people don't have an opportunity problem.

They have an asking problem.

They want the client.

They want the introduction.

They want the date.

They want the opportunity.

They want the promotion.

But they never actually ask for it.

In this episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Shaun Bartle dive into one of Dan's favourite sayings:

Shy kids don't get sweets.

And when you look back over almost any success story, business or personal, there's usually one thing in common.

Somebody was willing to put themselves out there.

Send the message.

Make the call.

Ask the question.

Pitch themselves.

Take the shot.

Dan shares stories from his corporate career, building his businesses, landing opportunities he had absolutely no business getting, and how some of the biggest breakthroughs in his life came from simply being cheeky enough to ask.

They also discuss:

  • Why most people talk themselves out of opportunities before they even try
  • The surprising downside of being too polite
  • Why rejection is nowhere near as scary as people think
  • How confidence is built through action, not waiting
  • The role other people have played in accelerating success
  • Why asking for help is harder than helping others
  • The power of putting yourself in the room
  • Why the biggest opportunities often come through relationships

Plus Dan shares the story of asking 10 influential friends for help with a launch and getting 10 yeses.

Not because he was special.

Not because he was lucky.

Because he finally asked.

If you've been sitting on an idea...

Waiting to send a message...

Thinking about reaching out to someone...

Or talking yourself out of doing something because it feels uncomfortable...

This episode is your reminder.

The answer is always no until you ask.

33: Men Need Standards Again29 May 202600:46:55

Most men slowly stop giving a shit about themselves.

Not overnight.

Just gradually.

The effort drops.

The standards slip.

The energy disappears.

And then they wonder why they feel flat, invisible, tired and disconnected from themselves.

In this Body & The Beast episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Jay Alderton talk about the importance of actually looking after yourself again.

Not in a fake influencer way.

Not in a “biohack your face with unicorn tears” way.

Just the real-world stuff that changes how you feel, how you carry yourself, and how the world responds to you.

They get into:

  • Why people judge you instantly whether you like it or not
  • How confidence changes your energy in a room
  • The psychology of first impressions and heuristics
  • Why smell is massively underrated
  • Haircuts, skincare, clothes and building your own “uniform”
  • Why most men stop making effort after 40
  • The connection between self-respect and self-care
  • Why looking after yourself changes your mindset and standards
  • How small habits stack together to create confidence

Dan talks about building a personal “uniform,” discovering proper skincare later in life, and why good aftershave genuinely changes how people respond to you.

Jay explains why giving a shit about yourself isn’t vanity — it’s identity — and why the little things you do every day shape how you think, act and show up in the world.

This episode isn’t really about skincare, clothes or aftershave.

It’s about standards.

Because when you stop treating yourself like you matter… eventually the world follows your lead.

32: The Messy Middle: Why Building Something Better Feels Like Chaos15 May 202600:58:57

You know that moment when you start tidying, pull everything out, and suddenly your house looks worse than when you began?

That’s the messy middle.

And business is exactly the same.

In this Man to Man episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Matt Hall talk about the part nobody really sells you on.

The chaos between deciding to change something and actually seeing the result.

Rebuilding systems.

Changing offers.

Questioning what still works.

Trying new things.

Breaking old ways of doing business.

Wondering why you did this to yourself in the first place.

They get into why entrepreneurs seem hardwired to press the button, create chaos, reinvent things and then somehow enjoy the madness.

Dan talks about stripping back his business, rediscovering the old Coffee With Dan energy, choosing to have fun again, and realising that some of the “professional” edges had taken away the thing people connected with in the first place.

Matt shares what he’s learned from years of building, running events, changing direction, dealing with criticism, and working out which parts of the chaos are worth repeating.

They also cover authenticity, online criticism, personal brands, staying relevant, evolving without losing the soul of what you do, and why you need to keep going long enough for the work to actually pay off.

If you’re currently in the bit where everything feels messy, uncertain and slightly mental…

Good.

That probably means you’re building something.

31: Cold DMs, Fake Gurus and Why Social Media Trust Is In The Bin01 May 202600:44:16

Social media is getting weird.

Cold DMs.

Copy and paste messages.

Fake case studies.

People trying to sell before they’ve even said hello.

And somehow… people are still surprised it doesn’t work.

In this episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Laura Baker get into the reality of selling on social media right now.

The good, the bad, and some genuinely ridiculous messages they’ve both received.

From “how much do you earn?” as an opener…

To full breakdown videos telling you everything you’re doing wrong…

To the same scripted messages sent by ten different people at the same time…

It’s no wonder trust is at an all-time low.

But this isn’t just a rant.

They break down what actually works instead.

Because while most people are playing a short game trying to force sales…

The people who are winning are doing something very different.

They’re building relationships.

They’re having real conversations.

They’re being normal.

Not weird. Not pushy. Not robotic.

Just normal.

They also get into:

– Why most cold DMs fail instantly
– The difference between starting a conversation and trying to sell
– Why people can spot scripted messages a mile off
– How trust has been damaged across social media
– Why doing your job well is still the best marketing strategy
– The long game of building real connections (and how it actually pays off)
– Dating app behaviour vs social media behaviour and why they overlap
– How to approach conversations without being creepy or forced

There’s also a lot of real talk around authenticity, AI-generated content, and why being slightly imperfect is now one of the only ways to stand out.

Because when everyone sounds the same…

The only thing left is being yourself.

If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of terrible DMs…

Or you’re trying to grow a business online without sounding like everyone else…

This episode is for you

30: You’re Not A Fraud: Imposter Syndrome, Confidence and Taking Action24 Apr 202600:41:20

Imposter syndrome is a weird little bastard.

You can have years of experience.

You can have helped people.

You can know your stuff.

You can have actual results.

And still have that voice in your head going:

Who am I to do this?

Why would anyone listen to me?

Am I actually good enough?

What if people find out I’m winging it?

In this episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Shaun Bartle get into imposter syndrome, self-doubt, overthinking, confidence, and why so many capable people hold themselves back from the very thing they’re qualified to do.

This one comes directly from real conversations Dan and Shaun have been having with clients. People with experience, skills, stories, results and plenty to offer, still getting caught in the same internal noise.

They talk about why qualifications are not always the same as lived experience, why people often underestimate the value of what they’ve already been through, and how the person you once needed can become the person you are now qualified to be for someone else.

Dan also shares his own experience with imposter syndrome after his book, business and online presence suddenly took off. From going from “some bloke from Somerset” to having a large audience, big opportunities and people looking to him for answers, he talks honestly about the head noise that came with that level of visibility.

They also cover the fear of being judged online, worrying about negative comments, comparing yourself to other people, and why action is usually the fastest way out of your own head.

Because sitting there thinking about all the ways something might go wrong usually makes everything worse.

Doing the thing changes the conversation.

This episode is for anyone who knows they need to put themselves out there more, but keeps talking themselves out of it.

Whether that’s posting content, selling your offer, coaching people, starting a project, speaking up, launching something, or finally owning the fact that you do actually know what you’re talking about.

If you’ve been waiting to feel perfectly ready, this is your sign to stop waiting.

Get out your head.

Go get shit done.

29: Come Together (No, Not Like That) 17 Apr 202600:59:04

Everyone says they want more opportunities.

Better connections.

Better ideas.

Better results.

But most people are trying to do it all from behind a screen.

In this episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Jay Alderton get into something that sounds simple… but most people still aren’t doing.

Getting in the room.

Meeting people.

Having conversations.

Putting yourself in environments where things actually happen.

Because as much as online business, social media and automation have their place…

Nothing replaces real life.

They talk about:

  • Why people constantly talk themselves out of going to events
  • The excuses that sound reasonable… but keep you stuck
  • What actually happens when you make the effort and show up
  • Why the best conversations happen outside the main room
  • How one conversation can turn into opportunities, clients or long-term relationships
  • The simple things you can do to get more out of any event you attend
  • Why most people waste events even when they do go

There’s also a very honest breakdown of what goes into putting events on, why people cancelling last minute is a nightmare, and why if you want more of these things… you actually need to support them.

Plus some very practical advice on:

  • Meeting people without being awkward
  • Remembering names (or recovering when you don’t)
  • Following up properly instead of letting connections die
  • Turning conversations into something useful afterwards

And a reminder that the majority of people out there… are actually sound.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, isolated, or like everything’s happening for other people but not you…

There’s a good chance you’re just not putting yourself in the right rooms.

28: Friction: The Part Everyone Tries To Dodge (And Why That’s The Problem)10 Apr 202600:45:31

You already know what needs doing.

You’ve probably known for a while.

You just keep finding ways not to do that bit.

So you stay busy.

You tick off smaller jobs.

You tell yourself you’re getting things “ready”.

You wait for it to feel a bit clearer, a bit easier, a bit more certain.

It doesn’t.

And while you’re doing all that, the thing that would actually move everything forward just sits there.

That’s what this episode gets into.

Not motivation. Not hype.

Just the reality of where people stall and why.

Because it’s rarely a lack of ideas.

It’s the moment where something feels a bit uncomfortable… and you decide to leave it for later.

That might be:

  • Starting something you’re not fully confident in
  • Saying something you’ve been putting off
  • Putting your work out there and risking being ignored
  • Finishing something after the initial excitement has worn off

That’s the work.

And most people keep trying to work around it.

Find a smoother way.

Make it feel nicer.

Delay it just enough to feel justified.

Then wonder why a few weeks go by and nothing’s changed.

In this episode, Dan and Jay break down:

  • Where people actually get stuck (and it’s not where they think)
  • What “friction” really looks like day to day
  • Why staying busy is often just a distraction from the real task
  • How avoidance quietly compounds into bigger problems
  • What changes when you stop dancing around it and just get on with it

No tricks.

No pretending it’s easy.

Just a straight look at the bit most people keep skipping… and why that’s the only bit that really matters.

27: Why You're Not Being Understood (And What To Do About It!)03 Apr 202601:06:43

That "confidence" issue you have? It's not about confidence

It's about communication.

You know what you mean… but what actually comes out is softer, longer, and nowhere near as clear as you wanted it to be.

So conversations drag.

Decisions stall.

Tension builds quietly in the background.

And then you wonder why nothing moves.

In this episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan and Matt get into the real reason so many conversations go nowhere… whether that’s in business, relationships, dating, or just everyday life.

This isn’t about scripts.

It’s not about sounding clever.

And it’s definitely not about “learning how to communicate better” in some polished, corporate way.

It’s about saying what actually needs to be said… without hiding behind filler, over-explaining, or trying to soften everything to the point it loses meaning.

We get into:

  • Why most people aren’t misunderstood… they’re just unclear
  • The difference between saying something and actually landing it
  • How over-explaining weakens your message instead of strengthening it
  • Why “being nice” can quietly create bigger problems later
  • The cost of avoiding direct conversations (and how it shows up over time)
  • How to be clearer without becoming blunt, aggressive, or awkward
  • Why people respect clarity far more than they respect careful wording

There’s also a deeper layer to this.

Because most of the time… people already know what they want to say.

They just hesitate.

They second guess it.

They try to package it in a way that feels safer.

Or they avoid it altogether and hope it sorts itself out.

It rarely does.

This episode breaks that pattern down properly.

Not in a motivational way.

Not in a “just be more confident” way.

But in a grounded, practical way that shows exactly where things go wrong… and what to do instead.

If you’ve ever:

  • Walked away from a conversation thinking “that didn’t land right”
  • Felt like people aren’t getting what you’re trying to say
  • Avoided saying something because you didn’t want to deal with the reaction
  • Or found yourself repeating the same conversations with no real outcome

This one will hit.

03:12 – What you think you’re saying vs what people actually hear
07:45 – The hidden cost of being vague
12:18 – Over-explaining and why it weakens your point
18:02 – Saying things properly without sounding like a dick
24:30 – Where people avoid the real conversation

26: Under Pressure — How to Handle Stress Before It Breaks You27 Mar 202600:32:57

A quarter of the year is already gone.

And for a lot of people… the pressure is building.

More work.

More expectations.

More things pulling you in different directions.

And most people just try to push through it.

Until their body steps in and forces them to stop.

In this episode of the Coffee With Dan Podcast, Dan and Shaun Bartle break down what stress actually looks like in real life, not the fluffy version, the version that lands you in hospital, burns you out, or leaves you running on empty.

Dan shares the moment his body completely shut him down after pushing too hard for too long.

Shaun talks about anxiety, burnout, and what happens when you don’t take care of yourself.

And together they unpack what actually works when it comes to handling stress properly.

This isn’t about avoiding pressure.

It’s about making sure it doesn’t break you.

They cover:

– Why most people live in constant low-level stress without realising it
– The early warning signs your body gives you before things go wrong
– How poor sleep and constant stimulation quietly wreck your performance
– The importance of disconnecting, even when it feels impossible
– Why “pushing through” isn’t always the answer
– How to actually reduce stress without overcomplicating it

Plus a brutally honest conversation about boundaries, burnout, and why looking after yourself isn’t optional if people rely on you.

If you’ve been feeling stretched, overwhelmed, or like you’re constantly “on”…

This one will hit.

25: Dealing With Bullshit — How to Stay Sane When Everything’s Trying You20 Mar 202600:30:52

This episode was supposed to be about spring cleaning.

Resetting. Clearing the decks. Getting ready for the next phase of the year.

Instead… it turned into something far more useful.

Because sometimes life doesn’t give you a clean slate.

It gives you problems.
Frustration.
Tech issues.
People being difficult.
Things not going your way.

In short… bullshit.

In this episode of the Coffee With Dan Podcast, Dan and Laura Baker break down how to actually deal with it without letting it take over your day, your mindset, or your life.

They get into the simple filter that stops you wasting energy on things you can’t control, why worrying is one of the biggest drains on your focus, and how your brain will actively work against you if you let it spiral.

There’s also a powerful shift around perspective, how getting older changes what actually matters, and why most of the things people stress about aren’t nearly as important as they think.

Plus a practical reset technique you can use in real time when everything feels like it’s getting on top of you.

If you’ve been dealing with frustrating situations, feeling overwhelmed, or just stuck in your own head… this one will help you get back to centre quickly.

Because the goal isn’t to avoid bullshit.

It’s to get better at handling it.

36: Dan's Birthday Message19 Jun 202600:40:21

This week's episode is a little different.

No guest.

No business breakdown.

No marketing strategy.

Just Dan.

As he turns 46.

Looking back over the last year, Dan shares some honest reflections on one of the most challenging periods of his adult life, what helped him get through it, and why he's now happier, calmer and more at peace than he's ever been.

From heartbreak and rebuilding, to asking for help, leaning on friends, rediscovering joy and learning how to stop carrying everything alone, this is a conversation about what happens when life punches you in the mouth and how you find your way back.

Dan also reflects on:

  • The unexpected success of How To Be Fucking Awesome
  • Building Coffee With Dan into a global community
  • Why asking for help changed everything
  • Learning to say no without feeling guilty
  • The difference between 36-year-old Dan and 46-year-old Dan
  • Why most people wait too long to be themselves
  • Gaming, Space Marine 2 and finding joy in unexpected places
  • The importance of good people during difficult times
  • Why action is the antidote to overthinking
  • The advice Dan wishes more people would follow

This isn't a lesson in business.

It's a lesson in being human.

And if you're currently going through a difficult season, Dan shares a reminder that sometimes all you need to do is keep showing up, keep doing the basics, and trust that eventually you'll feel like yourself again.

Because one day, often when you least expect it, you wake up and realise you're okay.

35: The Problem With Doing Everything Alone12 Jun 202600:41:19

For a lot of people, asking for help feels harder than struggling alone.

We don't want to be a burden.

We don't want to inconvenience people.

We don't want to look weak.

And sometimes we convince ourselves that we should be able to figure everything out on our own.

In this episode of Coffee With Dan, Dan Meredith and Matt Hall tackle one of the most common and damaging habits people have:

Refusing to ask for help.

Dan shares a recent experience where he reluctantly reached out to ten close friends for support with a launch.

All ten said yes.

Not only that, they went above and beyond.

The experience forced him to confront a belief he'd carried for years: that asking for help somehow made him a burden.

Together Dan and Matt explore:

  • Why so many people struggle to ask for help
  • The connection between pride, ego and self-reliance
  • Why friendship should never be purely transactional
  • The myth of being "self-made"
  • How relationships create opportunities
  • Why many men keep their struggles hidden
  • The fear of appearing weak
  • Support systems, business growth and personal resilience
  • What happens when you stop trying to carry everything yourself

Matt also shares his experience of hitting a difficult period in life, navigating heartbreak, uncertainty and burnout, and how learning to accept support became part of rebuilding himself.

This isn't a conversation about weakness.

It's a conversation about honesty.

Because no matter how successful, capable or independent you are...

At some point you're going to need help.

And there are probably more people willing to support you than you realise.

39: The Lie That's Keeping You Stuck10 Jul 202600:45:29

If you've ever caught yourself saying...

"I'll do it when things calm down."

"I'm just not feeling motivated today."

"Now isn't the right time."

...this episode is for you.

Matt and I got into a conversation about excuses, discipline and why so many people end up talking themselves out of the life they actually want.

Now before anyone starts shouting at us...

We're not talking about genuine burnout, mental health struggles or life kicking you square in the teeth.

We've both been there.

What we're talking about is all the little conversations we have with ourselves every single day that slowly pull us away from the things we say matter.

Because here's the uncomfortable truth...

Excuses nearly always sound reasonable.

In fact, most of them are.

The problem is they don't move your life forward.

We talk about why hard work has somehow become a dirty phrase online, why comfort quietly keeps people stuck, how social media has made complaining fashionable, and why waiting until you feel like doing something is one of the quickest ways to stay exactly where you are.

Along the way we also get into:

  • Why turning forty-five has made me think differently about time.
  • The danger of putting emotion ahead of action.
  • Why your future self is relying on the decisions you're making today.
  • What happened after one of the hardest periods of my life.
  • Why successful people still spend huge chunks of their day doing things they don't particularly want to do.
  • The difference between having a valid reason and using it as an excuse.

Matt also shares one of my favourite lines we've had on the podcast:

"Put action on a pedestal, not emotion."

Simple.

Brilliant.

True.

If you're waiting to feel motivated before you start...

You might be waiting forever.

Sometimes you simply have to crack on.

38: Growing Old (Dis)gracefully03 Jul 202600:46:13

We were supposed to be talking about getting older.

Instead, we somehow ended up discussing Marks & Spencer, Amazon purchases we definitely didn't need, why your back can go while painting a deck, and the strange point in life where staying home genuinely sounds like the better option.

But underneath all the piss-taking, there was actually something worth talking about.

Getting older isn't nearly as bad as people make out.

You stop caring about impressing people.

You stop pretending to enjoy things you don't.

You realise you don't need twenty mates, just a handful of good ones.

You become a lot more protective of your time, your energy and where you spend your limited supply of fucks.

Laura talks about changing careers and identities, why she finally stopped worrying about what other people expected from her, and why she's perfectly happy not having children despite everyone else's opinions.

We also get into why making friends gets easier and harder at the same time, why we're both strangely obsessed with M&S these days, and why getting older might actually be one of the best things that ever happens to you.

Turns out growing older isn't about giving up.

It's about finally becoming comfortable being yourself.

If you've ever caught yourself getting excited about new pillows, quality cotton clothing or a quiet Friday night...

Congratulations.

You're one of us now.

37:Man To Man: Why We Don't Ask For Help26 Jun 202600:41:19

We've all done it.

Tried to carry everything ourselves.

Not because we enjoy suffering, but because we don't want to be a burden. We don't want to inconvenience anyone. We don't want people thinking we can't cope.

Turns out that's bollocks.

Recently, I had a launch coming up. We'd done the work. We'd built the thing. We'd spent months getting everything ready.

Then Sarah asked me a very simple question.

"Why haven't you asked your mates to help?"

Because they're my mates.

I didn't want to be "that bloke" who only gets in touch when he wants something.

So she made me do it.

I messaged ten friends.

All ten said yes.

Not only that, they went above and beyond.

Some of the emails they wrote about me genuinely caught me off guard.

It also made me realise something.

Every time we refuse to ask for help, we're often stopping someone else from doing something kind.

Matt and I also get into why so many men would rather chew their own arm off than admit they're struggling.

Why being "self-made" is complete bullshit.

Why your mates probably care more than you think they do.

And why asking for help doesn't make you weak.

It makes you human.

If you're the sort of person who always says "I'm fine" when you're anything but...

I reckon this one's worth an hour of your time.

40: The Power Of Community17 Jul 202600:39:26

Most people think they need more motivation.

More discipline.

A better strategy.

Sometimes...

You just need better people around you.

In this episode, Jay and I talk about something that's become more important than ever...

Community.

Not the fluffy, motivational kind.

Real communities.

The people who tell you to get back on track when you've disappeared.

The people who celebrate your wins without making it about themselves.

The people who remind you who you are when you've forgotten.

Whether it's business, fitness, gaming, boxing, parenthood or just life in general, we've both realised the same thing...

Doing everything on your own is overrated.

We talk about why so many people isolate themselves when they're struggling, why accountability works far better than relying on motivation, and why some of the best friendships either of us have came from complete strangers on the internet.

Along the way we also cover:

  • Why purpose and community are two of the biggest predictors of happiness and longevity.
  • The difference between taking from a community and contributing to one.
  • Why consistency always beats intensity.
  • How online communities became real-life friendships.
  • The simple weekly habit Jay is using inside his new community.
  • Why asking for help is often the strongest thing you can do.
  • The biggest mistake people make when trying to improve their lives.

One thing that really stood out...

Most people think they need more information.

In reality, they usually just need people who won't let them quit.

If you've been trying to do everything alone...

This one's for you.
