Club Twirls with the Girls – Details, episodes & analysis

After a *lengthy* break, we came back to the studio to recap our summers. We give an update on our BINGO card progress, talk briefly all about the tournaments we played in and finally talk about our experience attending the CPKC LPGA Tournament that was at Earl Grey Golf Course. We also gave a little preview of what we'll be up to in the next few months!

The girls are back and are wrapping up Season 1 with a recap of their last few weeks. Sonja's trip to Butte, Blakely's work updates, and both of them talk about the shows they've been watching including Everything Now, Love is Blind & Golden Bachelor. They talked about their dinner with their pals from Birdie2Bogey and how they already booked a place to stay for the 2nd Annual Babes GDGT!  

They talked about Lexi Thompson's amazing performance at the Shriners Children's Open, and Minjee Lee and her brother Min Woo Lee winning within the same week! They also gave an update for the PGA/LPGA tournament because Jessica Korda has backed out of the Grant Thornton Invitational because of her pregnancy, and Lexi Thompson is taking her place on a team with Rickie Fowler!

The girls did a special Sunday episode this week to talk about the Ryder Cup! They start by breaking down their weeks, Blakely has a gripe with children's movies in the theatre, and Sonja talks about her love for Subway. 

They break down everything in the Ryder cup including Europe's big win, the drama with Rory & Patrick Cantlay and John Rahm and Brooks, sockless fashion, Viktor being amazing, and Pat hat gate. 

Blakely talks about the Asian games where Sungjae Im and Si Woo Kim represented team South Korea and won, and what that means for their futures. Aditi Ashok also made history at the tournament being the first woman from India to win a medal in golf at the games. 

Sonja expresses her excitement over all of the Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift hype, and the girls talk about their plans for Thanksgiving. Sonja recapps the first episode of the Golden bachelor and Blakely talks about her latest Audiobook and why she can't listen to music when she works!

The girls start the episode out recapping their weeks including Blakely's drummer's arms, and a full on inspirational TED talk. They also give their thoughts on all things Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce. They recapped their last tournament of the year, the Fall Finale, and talked about Mataya Hampson who is a 15 year old junior girls golfer from Calgary who bombed some long drives for us at the Mickelson National Ladies member guest that we played in. 

They then get right into recapping the Solheim Cup starting with their feet tans and yellow dresses, and ending with the exciting yet anticlimactic ending. Lexi Thompson received some heat after an interview, and Angel Yin showed off more of her hilarious personality. The Europeans kept the cup after the tournament ended in a tie, and the ladies will be flying back to Arkansas to play in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.

The PGA men just arrived in Rome for the Ryder Cup and now it will be up to team USA to at least tie the Europeans to keep the cup. Brooks is bringing his mullet and Bryson wishes he got an invite.

 We start this episode talking all about our experience at the Barbie themed member-guest tournament we played in at Mickelson National Golf Club over the weekend. 

Sonja talked all about her busy work week and the fun events they ran including a golf tournament in memory of one of the first Club Twirls followers, Laura, and Blakely talks about how she finally got her yellow door. Sonja might have convinced Blakely to watch the next season of the bachelor - the Golden Bachelor, and how her friend Kat is in the finals of The Amazing Race Canada! 

They quickly cover what happened in the PGA last week because a Club Twirls favourite, Sahith Theegala, finally won his first PGA event, the Fortinet Championship! 

The girls then break down all the details for the Solheim cup that's coming up this weekend including the captains, formats, teams, and more! 

The girls also give their Girl Math moments of the week, Sonja learned that the Catskills is a real thing, Blakely asks for audiobook recommendations and Sonja talks about her Golf Audiobook she just listened to (Your 15th Club) and how it's helped her with her golf game.

 This week the girls recap their weeks and talk about their amazing Italian dinner at SS106 Aperitivo Bar, their obsession with the show Heartstopper, and give an update about their Club Twirls Fantasy Football league. They also talk about Girl Math. 

Minjee Lee beat Charley Hull in a 2 hole playoff at the Kroger Queen City Championship and then girls get into their thoughts on Charley. There was nothing notable that happened in the PGA but the girls gave their thoughts on how to get a hole in one without an asterisk. 

The girls also get into their thoughts on private golf course culture including experience, etiquette and golfing with kids.

We really get into it on this one. If you want to know where we've been the past 2 months, this is the episode for you! 

Starting off with a content warning that we discuss pregnancy loss on this podcast. If you don't have the capacity to listen, and want to skip to golf talk, skip to the 25 minute mark. 

Blakely and Sonja found out they were pregnant 1 week apart, and then found out they were both having miscarriages a week apart as well. They talk about their individual experiences and how they got through it together. 

Blakely talks about her experience playing in the Magrath Ladies Scramble, and both the girls talk about playing at Kananaskis with their families. They also talk about their inaugural Classy Classic and their disappointing final week of Ladies league at their course. 

The girls switch up their golf talk by going away from simply "reading the news", and instead tell their favourite stories from the news. Sonja basically just uses this time to talk about Viktor.

 This week Sonja recaps her weekend at the Whitefish 4th of July Tournament. From her Pit Vipers, to her 13 on hole 13, to dipping mugs in a BFP at the Bulldog, she leaves no detail uncovered. Blakely went to Bull Bustin, acted as a mechanic, took her kid to nerd camp, and recapped their ladies night last week with their big horse and buggy win.  

Allisen Corpuz won the U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach, and Blakely spit some amazing fun facts about Michelle Wie, Nasa Hataoka, In Gee Chun, Jiyai Shin and Charley Hull. 

Sepp Straka won the John Deere Classic, Mark Hubbard gave the finger to either his caddy or someone else (we will be doing a full investigation and keep you posted), and the big names in the PGA skipped out on the John Deere to head over to Europe to watch the Wimbledon and get ready for the Scottish Open! They also touched on the LIV drama between Brooks and Matt Wolffe, and Jay Monahan's health scare. 

The girls are preparing for ladies night this week, and playing in the RBC Open Scramble at GlenEagles in Cochrane. Don't forget to tag us in your twirls if you're out playing this week!

After taking a week off, the girls are back to fill you in on their happenings. Blakely and her brother won the coveted Country Hills Cup, and Sonja and her husband played in the same tournament and are still married! They cover the whole tournament including the format, the weather and of course, the results! 

The second LPGA major of the year, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship happened, and Ruoning Yin was the champion, winning her first major and second event of the year! This weekend the LPGA players are rolling into back-to-back majors with the US Women's Open, at Pebble Beach. Michelle Wie and Annika Sörenstam will be playing, alongside a 14 year old. We will be running another free pool from our instagram, so pick your fav players and sign up! 

The PGA had some excitement over the last few weeks and the girls talked about Keegan Bradley winning the Travelers Championship, and Rickie finally getting a win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic! 

The girls end with a rant and rave session, and Sonja tries to shake the nerves for her golf tournament in Whitefish this weekend.
