We're heading back to podcasting, back to talking movies with Back to the Future. Go in depth behind the history of the franchise's first film as Mike and Trevor discuss Mike's favorite movie of all time. Is there a more complete podcast episode about this movie? I don't know, I didn't do that much research.

It's our 3rd Anniversary and we're celebrating once again with Charlie Kaufman. This time it's the only movie in both of our top 5 movie's list, 2004's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. A more serious episode, we talk about our love of this movie along with our first experience and how it has inspired us in our daily lives, our music and our Halloween costumes.

One of the greatest movies of the last two decades and one of the best movies from the legendary Coen Brothers, No Country For Old Men won Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for one of cinema's greatest villain performances.

It's our annual Halloween episode and just in time for Christmas! Dr Hannibal Lector is now making house calls right inside your ear holes! Merry Christmas you filthy animal! Also, don't forget to put the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again!

This episode was plagued with technical problems in the first 15 minutes or so. While recording, the computer recording the audio was having problems, which resulted in the audio skipping every now and then. Good news is this was only in the first 15 minutes. Bad news, it removes words of great context. So if you're confused about what we're talking about, that is why. I can say one time our guest mentioned the Brave Little Toaster being too scary for little kids and another time Michael mentions he wasn't allowed to watch the scene in Independence Day where the seemingly unconscious alien takes control of Brent Spiner's scientist character and uses him as a puppet.

What is your American Dream? To have a family and a house? A job that you love? To be rich and famous? Or is it to make cheap horror films while skipping child support and getting every dollar you can out of your dying uncle? Well that seems to be Mark Borchardt wants most.

It's the story of ambition, artistic integrity, avoiding a 9 to 5 and drinking as much as you can while digging yourself deeper and deeper into debt.

Mike and Trevor talk about this indie classic as it celebrates its 25 birthday. It's American Movie!!!

Getting back on track with our regularly scheduled programming, we’re discussing a movie that has the all important “three B’s”… boobs, blood…..and Bacon. Check out his fight skills that rival Steven Seagal and his detective skills that rival Walker Texas Ranger. But what does he do in his down time? He's just coolin' but don't be trippin' and skippin' this episode because it's Cool as Iccccccce!

Ok...how should I start this episode summary? Should I start with the reason it took so long to upload this episode? No I don't' have a good excuse for that and people are just going to think I'm some kind of loser. Maybe I should talk about the movie. But I hate when people go on and on in the description about what the podcasters talk about in the episode. I know! I'll make it very meta, like how the movie is meta. I'll write out what I'm thinking and it will be cleaver and people will want to listen to the episode even more. Nah! I don't think people even read the episode descriptions. Honestly they're kind of a pain to write. (Wait...did I just use the right they're/there/their? they. are. Yeah I'm good. Maybe I should say the title of the movie. No because that's what the episode title is for)

The 95th Annual Academy Awards are Sunday and in order to talk about it properly Mike and Trevor bring in their Oscar expert, Oscar. We go through all 23 categories and explain what the Academy forgot, what they got wrong, who we think should win and who we think will win.

Who will win best Actor, Hot Austin or Fat Fraser? Who will win best director, a couple of Daniels or a man who's been here before? And what is My Year of Dicks actually about?

Let me tell you the story of Right Hand/Left Hand. For it was with the right hand (LOVE) that actor Charles Laughton directed Robert Mitchum in one of his scariest performances in a film based on a controversial book and it was the left hand (HATE) that critics struck down the first time director's directing career. But wait a minute! As time went on, 1955's The Night of the Hunter became a beloved classic by filmmakers and movie lovers everywhere.

But who does Mike and Trevor agree with? With the lovers or the haters?

What is the most watched Christmas movie of all time? I don't know but I'm willing to bet Bob Clark and Jean Shepherd's coming of age tale that is celebrating 25 year of 24 marathons is pretty high on that list. Travel back to 1940 and to the childhood Christmas memories of Mike and Trevor as they review A Christmas Story and relate it to their own upbrings and favorite Christmas memories but don't worry, no one shot their eye out!

Kicking off our Christmas series of films, Trevor brings in one of his favorite Christmas and romantic comedies,  the insanely stacked, star studded 2003 English classic, Love Actually. 

What's your favorite Thanksgiving movie? If you didn't say Planes, Trains and Automobiles, then what movie are you thinking of because it's the only Thanksgiving movie that matters. Unless you count Rocky with that one scene Pauly throws the turkey out the front door. The late great John Candy and comedy legend Steve Martin give the greatest comedic performances of their careers in John Hughes' buddy road trip comedy based on events he experienced. It's time to buy your kids a chocolate turkey, take a scenic cab ride through Wichita, Kansas and put your hand between two pillows. Gobble Gobble, you're f***ed!

 “People wanna live like this in their cars and big fuckin' houses they can't even pay for, then you're necessary. The only reason that they all get to continue living like kings is cause we got our fingers on the scales in their favor. I take my hand off and then the whole world gets really fuckin' fair really fuckin' quickly and nobody actually wants that. They say they do but they don't. They want what we have to give them but they also wanna, you know, play innocent and pretend they have no idea where it came from. Well, thats more hypocrisy than I'm willing to swallow, so fuck em. If you’re into hearing amazingly written (and spoken) dialog including some of the above monologue, then have we got a movie for you! It’s 2011’s factually accurate, thinly disguised housing/financial crisis drama, Margin call. 

What is the most controversial movie of all time? It might be some of the films we've already talked about but Walt Disney's post Civil War live action/animation hybrid Song of the South is definitely part of the conversation. It hasn't been released theatrically in the states since 1986, before some of us were born. Does it deserve to remain in the Disney Vault like images from Fantasia, The Rescuers and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Or should it be widely available for the public to decide?

Tune in as Mike and Trevor discuss the problematic nature of Joel Chandler Harris' tales of the south, Walt Disney's history with and surrounding the film and how it led to one of Disneyland's most beloved attractions.

In our continuing "Movies That We Loved" series, Mike and Trevor will be discussing arguably one of the greatest film noirs of all time. Who are we arguing with? What are we arguing about? Why it's the 1997 Curtis Hanson crime drama masterpiece, LA Confidential, of course! Listen in for some backstory on the book, real life characters contained within the movie and some major differences between the book and the movie. Oh and we'll be giving our ratings if you care about that sort of thing.

The weirdest of Als has made only one movie and it failed miserably at the box office. But after 3 decades and thousands of Twinkie Weiner Sandwiches, UHF has become a cult classic amongst polka and non polka fans alike. So the real challenge is now. Will 1989's absurdist comedy UHF fail with Mike and Trevor like it did 33 years ago or will is soar like so many poodles?

When does the good guy become the bad guy? When is revenge enough? How much pain can one person inflict on another? All good questions but not as good as the question of why do Korean directors make better films than 78.23% of American directors?

After a longer than anticipated absence, we’re back to our regularly schedule program with a discussion of the 1996 under-appreciated Tom hanks film, That Thing You Do! join us as we discuss one of the examples of why Tom Hanks is the best human ever. We may even discover the answer the age old question: “I wonder what happened to the Oneders?”

We decided to change things up and try something new...ish for this upcoming episode. For our semi-regularly newest “format”, we will be discussing films that we both know and both love deeply.
