A very special topic on this show, the CP7 boys return to the scene of the crime, the birthplace of this Podcast, Geneva Watch Days. You've heard the rumours, but now hear the genuine origin story of the CP7 Podcast, and how big guests and big brands were there from its inception.

To kick off the boys talk about their recent summer breaks and watch meet ups. Andy held a RedBar Barcelona event and Parm paid his first visit to a Time 4A Pint watch meet in London. Discover what happened during both meets in both cities and the great watch people they met.

Then on to the main topic, Geneva Watch Days 2024, the world’s largest show for independent watch brands. There are so many independent brands at the show both high end and well-priced, and the boys spill the beans on who they are most looking forward to meeting. So out goes Rolex, Omega, Cartier and Patek Philippe and in comes De Bethune, MB&F, Nivada Grenchen, Moser, Krayon, and many, many more.

Ep #34: Watch Banter, The Formex Essence Skye, and Watch Shows - With Rikki Daman From Scottish Watches09 Aug 202401:00:04

In this very special episode, the CP7 Boys are joined by Rikki Daman from the stellar Scottish Watches Podcast.
It was a great day to record the show, as not only did Scottish Watches just release their latest collaboration with cool Swiss brand Formex, the Essence Skye that very day, but the banter is off the chart from the get go!

Scottish Watches is the most popular watch podcast right now (apart from CP7 of course!) and was started by Rikki in 2019 whilst a complete newbie in the watch world. Hear about how, in that short time, Scottish Watches have collaborated with multiple brands including Swatch and H. Moser & Cie and become the juggernaut they are now, and what exactly is the real story behind the H.Moser x Scottish Watches collaboration Streamliner (or Memeliner as Rikki calls it). Was it really an April Fool's joke? Find out here.

It ended in 2019, but the boys find out about the the old Basel World and the difference between that, and today's premier watch show event, Watches & Wonders. Have they both been surpassed by Dubai Watch Week?

So buckle up and enjoy the ride as the boys and Rikki shoot the breeze, banter each other, and talk watches in this special show.

Ep #33: Collaborations, Jumping Hours, and The New Terminator Watch? - With José Miranda From Isotope Watches 04 Aug 202400:51:58

Want to learn about one of the most creative British watch brands in the watch world? Listen in as the boys talk to José Miranda of Isotope Watches and uncover the creative genius he and his brand humbly emanate.

Hear about how Gerald Genta inspired Isotope's first ever watch, the Jumping Hour Rider, and the pitfalls and challenges José faced in producing it. Starting his watch business in 2016 it hasn't taken long to get recognised by the big players in the industry, as Isotope made their initial collaboration watch with none other than Wei Koh's Revolution Magazine with their mirror-dialled Mercury. At first glance, this and the new MoonShot Chronograph, the Flyway, The Goutee D'Eau, and the yet-to-be in main production Jumping Hour OVNI may all seem like completely different styles of watches, but you'll be fascinated to hear how the rich Isotope design language and DNA runs through the veins of all of them, with more Easter Eggs, and spiritual and mystical links than The Da Vinci Code.

Inspired by The Egg of Columbus, discover how José won't stop until he makes the impossible possible, fueled by his desire and passion to be unique, and try what nobody else has. So if you thought Isotope was simply a "quirky" British brand (via Portugal), think again and fall in love with the underrated but most certainly highly respected, creative mind of the main man at Isotope Watches.

Get ready for an incredible experience, which may have also inadvertently unearthed a watch perfect for the next installment in James Cameron's Terminator movie series!

So buckle up and enjoy the ride as we delve deep into the mindset of a real gentleman and visionary in the watch world.

Ep #32: CP7 Unplugged - Don't Judge a Watch By Its Cover - Fun Watches You're Not Supposed to Like26 Jul 202400:59:55

Join us in another Unplugged show! No editing, no deletes, just pure unadulterated watch talk. Oh, and for the first time, the CP7 boys are enjoying a beer (or two!) live on air.

With all the uncertainty in the watch world right now, the hype looks to have well and truly died down; is it finally safe for us enthusiasts to have some fun, and not have to worry about the investment-inspired "hype-class" polluting the hobby?
That question has inspired this show... don't judge a watch by its cover, can we  have fun and wear the watches we want… irrespective of what anyone else says?

So temporarily tear up your Rolex or Patek Philippe waiting lists, and let’s  get into some other brands, for our fix of horological fun.  MB&F, Bell & Ross, Maurice Lacroix, Franck Muller, and even Ulysse Nardin all get put to the test CP7 style!

So buckle up and enjoy the ride, as the boys get into another fun filled, and thought provoking CP7 Unplugged show.

A very special thanks to Alon Ben Joseph from Amsterdam's legendary Ace Jewelers for loaning us the review watches.

Ep #31: Essential Summer Holiday Watches21 Jul 202400:53:20

Summer is here and it's holiday season! But which watch do you take with you on your vacation? Is one enough?
Inspired by Parm’s recent trip to Singapore and Malaysia, where he had three different holiday experiences on one trip, the boys decide which watches would fit in for each stage.
Listen in as they discuss which watches to take on a holiday for (1) travelling and sights, (2) a city break, and (3) the ultimate summer holiday, the beach vacation.
To make this a challenge worthy of the CP7 boys, the usual suspects like Patek Philippe, Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Cartier, or IWC would NOT be counted. This challenge allows them to highlight brands or models that aren’t as high profile but carry some serious watch credentials, particularly for a summer holiday.  So forget your Submariner, Speedmaster, Black Bay, or Santos, and let’s take a refreshing look at something different for the most fun time of the year.
We also find out what the boys have been up to, which includes an exciting merchandise collaboration with Totte from REM Straps, and a catch-up with listeners of the show, and top guys, The Watch Brothers Neil and Mark.
So Buckle up and enjoy the ride in this special summer show which should heat up your summer holiday watch choices for the season ahead!!!

Gérald Genta is a name that needs no introduction to any watch enthusiast the world over.  His designs have shaped the luxury watch world over the last few decades with iconic watch designs such as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Patek Philippe Nautilus and the Omega Constellation, amongst many others.
This show was inspired by the recent reissue of the Credor Locomotive to mark the 50th anniversary of the luxury Japanese watch brand usually associated with Seiko. But did you know that it was Genta who designed it? Ironically for one of the brands that had led to the quartz crisis which had crippled his beloved Swiss watch industry. So, as it says in the title was this his guilty pleasure? Find out as the CP7 boys give their thoughts on this very polarising design, and what it really meant to Genta.
Of course, it's not a CP7 show without a challenge and today the guys pick their favourite 3 Genta pieces outside of the obvious Royal Oak and Nautilus.
Brace yourselves for an exciting announcement too as the podcast evolves into Phase 2 of its roadmap which can hopefully take the pod to a whole new level.

Ep #37: Watch Talk, Watch Talk, and More Watch Talk! - The Return of Martin Green13 Sep 202400:52:27

Yes he’s back, back again!
The resident gentleman of The CP7 Podcast, Mr Martin Green. Interrupting his busy schedule in the Netherlands, Martin finally prioritised between being Editor At Large for Watch Time USA magazine, and the GPHG Academy’s voting panel to take his place as the unofficial third member of Chrono Passion 7!

This episode was supposed to be the CP7 Geneva Watch Days Review Part 2 but the  opportunity of having Martin on was too good to pass up. So as Martin missed Geneva Watch Days 2024 he asks the boys a few questions to calm his FOMO before the real watch talk begins.

Do we really need a quest for the world’s thinnest watch? Why are some three dial chronographs called Bicompax and not Tricompax? Which independent brands are the ones to look out for? But most importantly, which watches have been caught on the radar of our trio?

Ep #40: Speedmasters, Collectibility and Finding The Next Watch Icon with RJ Broer From Fratello04 Oct 202401:05:29

To mark the 1st birthday of the CP7 Podcast, which also happens to be our landmark 40th episode, we have an extremely special guest on to talk watches and a few other unexpected topics too! The CP7 Boys chat to none other than Robert Jan Broer, affectionately known as RJ, the Founder of Europe's leading watch enthusiast online platform Fratello. Not only is he the main man at Fratello, he is also the creator of Speedy Tuesday on social media and a huge Omega Speedmaster collector.

No show with RJ can start without a Speedmaster kick off and boy do we get into some depth about how important it is in the watch icon hierarchy, and how many different models have been made, including a red Speedmaster Racing Michael Schumacher Edition, that Andy had handled which was owned by former Williams and McClaren Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

You'll be blown away by what RJ thinks is the most important watch made in the history of the watch industry, as it's most certainly not what you think!

The boys also get RJ's valuable personal yet experienced insight into what will be a future icon that hasn't quite made it to that "label" yet, and what he rules out as not quite making the cut, of course giving his reasons why. Listen in to RJ's opinion on what is collectible and what is not as he uses the very interesting Porsche 911 vs Porsche Boxster collectibility debate. Finally what brands need a bit more recognition due to merit and continuous improvement rather than hype? So let's talk Omega, Rolex, Cartier plus many more.

For these answers, great insights and a lot of fun, buckle up and enjoy the ride as we mark this monumental show with one of the boys' most favourite and fun episodes so far.

Is this really the new 5711? Is is ugly or an evolution of sports watches and the shape of things to come? Is it really a copy of the Cartier Santos? Listen in and find out their take on it and what did Thierry Stern really mean with his comments on why the Cubitus has been received so unceremoniously?

Ep #42: The Spirit of Adventure and Tool Watches with Huiy Tang From RZE Watches28 Oct 202400:56:19

Join us as we talk to Huiy Tang, Co-Founder and the marketing maestro behind RZE Watches.

Assembled for adventure since 2020, RZE has been building timepieces for the everyday adventurer, pushing boundaries in quality and value again and again. Greatly inspired by the use of titanium in the aerospace industry for its strength, weight and look, and being a brand so competitively priced in its target market we find out how such stylish, durable and functional watches can be created at these highly competitive price points.

Hear how Huiy shares that spirit of adventure that he loves, and how he’d rather live the simple life, and appreciate the great outdoors with the pursuits it brings, rather than buy that big house and Lamborghini, which is a mindset that impressively flows through the other founders of the brand, Travis and Clarence. Huiy also explains why the tool watch market is the perfect choice for RZE, with a keen association with sustainability projects such as Canada’s Project Forest which sets out to rewild Canada’s local landscape, and a range of outdoor activity and highly durable tools and products.

So put on your best outdoor adventure gear, and lace up your boots, so you can buckle up and enjoy the ride as we talk to Huiy from this very unique and cool brand.

Ep #41: Italian Watch Design, La Dolce Vita & The Labormatic with Mo Coppoletta from Gagà Laboratorio18 Oct 202400:34:46

Immerse yourself in La Dolce Vita as the CP7 Boys talk to Mo Coppoletta, an avid De Bethune collector, tattoo artist and designer, as well as the man and mind behind Italy’s newly launched and stylish independent watch brand, Gagà Laboratorio.

Joining us from Verona in Italy, London-based Mo’s passion for style and flair in his debut watch, the Labormatic, is there for all to hear, but it’s his quest for the finest quality that only a good watch can have, that will win you over in this show. Like the great movie La Dolce Vita's director, Frederico Fellini, he shares that  “Sweet Life” passion for making sure that feeling good is a priority, with watches and just about anything meaningful to us as individuals in life, and to never compromise that feeling. You will get a sense of how he puts his heart and soul into everything he does, especially when designing the Labormatic.

Design is one of the most important qualities of a watch, particularly in the creative independent watchmaking space, and we get to hear about the incredible design influences behind both versions of the new Gagà Laboratorio Labormatic, the Cinquanta and the Bauhaus. Discover how they are based on 1950s Milanese-inspired industrial designs, stylish Italian scooters,  Smeg kitchen appliances, the Porsche 356 and surprisingly San Giorgio fans! Ep #46: Driving A Vintage Watch Past Into A Modern Watch Future with Pascal Béchu from Angelus11 Dec 202400:40:49

The infamous Quartz Crisis in the 1970s forced a lot of great historical watch brands to close their doors, with Angelus probably being one with the most heritage. However, today, Angelus has been reinvented in a more modern incarnation, and at the helm is its engaging and driven Managing Director, Pascal Béchu, who we shoot the breeze with in our latest episode.

Find out how Pascal deals with retaining the DNA of vintage Angelus in the new watch company whist keeping it relevant and up to date with its sports chronograph history. Hear about how releasing complications from the past need to be done alongside adding complications never used previously in its heyday.

Talking of complications we also discuss how the monopusher on the amazing Instrument de Vitesse (Speed Instrument) was inspired but the collective artisan genius of F.P Journe, Vianney Halter, both famous for their eponymous brands, and Denis Flageollet, the watchmaking genius behind De Bethune. Not to mention the chronograph history of the Chronodate (formerly known as the Chronodato) and the incredibly important Doctor’s Watch complication.

So buckle up and enjoy the ride as we rev up and talk sport watches, sports cars and the future of a brand whose future is very strategically steeped in the past.

Ep #49: The Watch Collector Talks Mainstream vs Independent Watches with Ollie Al-Falah of The Limited Edition26 Jan 202500:55:51

Welcome back to your favourite watch-related podcast.

Have you ever considered giving up on the generic world of mainstream watches? Well, hold that thought! In this latest episode, our guest is a collector deeply immersed in the mysterious world of independent watches but still retains a love for the watches from where it all began.
Join us with Ollie Al-Falah, YouTube's "The Watch Collector", who loves a mainstream brand, but became so engrossed in the independent watch world that he ended up investing in the company he bought his first high horology independent watch from, UK-based The Limited Edition.
Find out how HYT was his gateway drug into this weird and wonderful rabbit hole and how he moved on from Casio, Omega, Rolex, (and Animal!) to Bulgari, Czapek and the incredible Laurent Ferrier, with its world-famous finishing.
This episode shows how these artisans of the watch world really do challenge the norm, awaken our inner risk-taker, and perhaps bring out the peacock in all of us (to an acceptable and tasteful degree of course!).

So buckle up and enjoy the ride as we delve deep into the symbiotic coexistence of mainstream and independent watch brands.
