29: Ignoring the Confirmation You Already Had | An Open Letter to the Woman Who Got Her Confirmation and Still Stayed27 Jul 202600:05:39

Why do I stay after I already know the truth? This episode is for the woman who got her confirmation, the proof, the pattern, the plain truth, and stayed anyway. Melanie Reyes, Certified Faith-Based Coach and your Focus Bestie, reads an open letter addressing emotional sobriety, trauma bonds, and identity in Christ for women carrying the shame of staying after they already knew.

This episode explores what it means to guard your heart after confirmed harm, how shame shows up differently once denial isn't an option anymore, and why walking away from proof you already have is still grief work, not just a decision.

13: The Other Side: Freedom from Depression and Suicide06 May 201900:53:32

In today's conversation we kick off the Mental Health Month Series with my friend Richard Taylor, Jr. Richard's story of overcoming morbid obesity, depression, suicide, failing in college and domestic abuse, have struck a change within people throughout different walks of life. His message breaks cultural boundaries and challenges bias social norms. Richard inspires the masses to tap into their inner potential to create the change they want to see.

In his new book, The Other Side: Freedom from Depression and Suicide, Richard guides us through some of the practices that helped him pursue his freedom from depression, along with his attempts and thoughts of suicide. Richard helps the reader dissect the feelings and emotions that we harbor from the pains of life and provides a simplistic approach to conquer them. Understanding that we don't have to continue to relinquish our power to issues that have held our lives hostage for far too long, Richard translates these small practices into a big purpose that will impact and inspire readers of all ages to learn to live a fruitful life on the other side.

In today's conversation, I am sitting with my friend Antonio who shares his powerful and redemptive story on how God pursued him and transformed his life through unconditional love and kindness. He learned that it is only through God's kindness that we are led to repentance. I feel this is one of the most important conversations I will have in this show. This episode is for EVERYONE to listen to, whether you are struggling with homosexuality, or perhaps you are a church leader that wants to be better equipped or a family member of someone struggling with their sexuality and you want to better understand their process, regardless, this will help you.

27: Shame and Guilt | An Open Letter to the Woman Who Believes Her Past Is Her Prison | Real with Melanie13 Jul 202600:09:10

Why do I still feel guilty when God has already forgiven me? If you're a Christian woman asking that question, this open letter is for you. We talk about shame, guilt, and the difference between conviction and condemnation, and why your past was never meant to be a prison.

In this episode I speak directly to the woman carrying condemnation for things God already redeemed, the one who has disqualified herself before anyone else could. I share how I could not tell the difference between the voice of conviction and the voice of condemnation for years, and what finally set me free. I also read from Kingdom Happily Ever After, my 20-lesson guide to emotional sobriety, specifically Lesson 15: Shame, Guilt, and the Lies They Whisper.

If shame has been narrating your story, this is your reminder: forgiveness is freely given, but freedom must be chosen. God doesn't rehearse what He's already redeemed.

A little about this show: Real with Melanie is a faith-based podcast for Christian women navigating mental health, emotional healing, and the journey to wholeness in Christ. Every episode speaks into codependency recovery, shame and guilt, boundaries, people pleasing, and identity in Christ, the real stuff so many of us carry quietly. This episode speaks to shame, guilt, and the difference between conviction and condemnation, part of the larger journey toward emotional freedom and focus. 5: Can You Still Dance With Broken Bones - Part 204 Feb 201900:35:09

Losing her husband caused Cristina Mendez to hit the lowest of the lows but never allowed her worship to cease because through that worship God healed her bone by bone. It was through that roar inside that the Lioness stood strong and understood who she was. It was through her roar of worship that she is being restored.

My favorite nuggets:

Part 1

+ Her definition of intimate worship

+ How God prepares our hearts for our suddenly's

+ The ugly part of the journey and the plan she had to carry through

+ The importance of raising our children in the gospel

+ Be willing to pay the price for the Job 42 experience

+ Whispers of the enemy

+ Weak and wounded people speak from a broken place

Part 2:

+ It's through a place of brokenness that we get to pour out our oil

+ Her unfamiliar start with newly dating

+ Having to re-learn to parent

+ Are you willing to be okay with God's re-direct in our lives?

+ Faith without action is pointless

3: Ditch Goal Setting, Let's Focus On Intentions!21 Jan 201900:42:25

In today's episode, we have Marina Howard, a holistic health coach and lifestyle photographer. Marina helps us understand the difference between goals and intentions, the importance of embracing multiple passions and how her faith has grown through prayer which has led to hearing God's voice during journaling. We end the episode with some great encouragement about the shift happening in 2019 and the remnant that's rising up!!

My favorite nuggets:

4:50 Embracing being multi-passionate.

9:25 Identifying when goals feel like we are suffocating and how to shift that.

10:18 The reason intentions are better than goals is because it's a mindset, not a time constraint.

15:00 How to have a healthy relationship with food.

19:00 If you don't feed your mind, your motivation decreases.

23:45 You can't grow, what you do not measure.

20:30 Rock bottom experience that shaped his new voice

29:00 Whenever we are looking for approval from somebody, we decline our voice and we accept theirs.

26: Comparison and God's Timing | An Open Letter to the Woman Who Feels Behind06 Jul 202600:08:12

Why do I feel behind in life? If you're a Christian woman asking that question, this open letter is for you. We talk about comparison, God's timing, and why your worth was never measured by a man-made timeline.

In this episode I share the therapy question that exposed where I had built my identity, and how anchoring my identity in Christ, not milestones, changed my emotional healing. I also read from Kingdom Happily Ever After, my 20-lesson guide to emotional sobriety, specifically Lesson 18: Living From Identity, Not Insecurity.

If you've been stuck in comparison, watching everyone else move ahead in career, relationships, or healing, this is your reminder: delay is not denial, and God's timing is not late.

A little about this show: Real with Melanie is a faith-based podcast for Christian women navigating mental health, emotional healing, and the journey to wholeness in Christ. 25: Releasing What Could've Been | An Open Letter to the Woman Who Needs to Mourn | Real with Melanie29 Jun 202600:09:12

Are you grieving a version of your life that never happened? This is an open letter for the woman mourning what could've been, not the person, but the dream. The version of your life you built in your heart that God never showed up for the way you planned. If you've ever stayed loyal to a fantasy longer than was good for you, this letter was written for you.

Faith, healing, and emotional sobriety. After a six-year hiatus, Real with Melanie Podcast is back with the Open Letter series, six letters for Christian women navigating grief, codependency, toxic relationships, and the journey to emotional freedom and wholeness in Christ.

In this episode:

  • Why letting go of a dream is harder than letting go of a person
  • What faith, fear, and control actually look like from the inside
  • Permission to grieve what never happened and start over without calling it failure

30: Rejection and Self-Worth | An Open Letter to the Woman Who's Tired of Rejection and Shame03 Aug 202600:08:05

Why does rejection still make you feel like you're not enough, even when nothing about you has changed? This is the final letter in the Open Letter series, written for the woman who's spent a lifetime bracing for the door to close, in friendships, in family, in love, in every room she's ever walked into.

This episode weaves in Lesson 8 of Kingdom Happily Ever After: How the Gospel Redefines Good Enough.

This episode speaks to rejection, shame, and self-worth, part of the larger journey toward emotional freedom and focus. If you searched for a Christian podcast for emotional healing and mental health, or how to heal from rejection as a Christian woman, you are exactly who this show was made for.
