Colleen Gleason (aka Colleen Cambridge, C.M. Gleason, and Alex Mandon) is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling and award-winning author who can’t seem to decide what type of book to write…so she writes a lot of different genres! So far, Colleen has written everything from vampire hunters to dystopian romance, to steampunk, historical romance, and mysteries with a supernatural flair or a historical setting. USA Today bestselling author Ellen Byron’s Cajun Country Mysteries have won multiple Agatha and Lefty awards. Bayou Book Thief, the first book in her new Vintage Cookbook Mysteries, was nominated for  Agatha and Anthony awards, and won the Lefty for Best Humorous Mystery. My favorite part of writing is coming up with a story idea and then fleshing it out until there is a brand new world–-with characters that could be people you’d hang out with. Real issues, even in a fictional setting, need to resonate with the reader and I love mixing it all together. History with a romantic twist, add female guards and hot, sexy knights/nights :). An ancient curse? Even better! Or maybe you’d prefer sensual contemporary romance that takes place in a small town by the sea, where hearts are healed and love rekindled. Sand, sun and true love. Or how about the wild frontier of the Pacific Northwest? Gold mines, silver guns, emerald rivers. If young adult is more your style, I’ve got boys in trouble, girls in trouble, or a teenage scientific prodigy raised in a Wiccan environment who blames the full moon for her problems. When it comes right down to it, the characters are what drive the tale. They keep us up at night to read Just One More Page…

I entered my first recipe contest on a whim. My three kids were all napping and I had a moment to browse a magazine where I saw an ad calling for recipes showcasing a piece of bread for a cash prize. I won the contest. Suddenly, I was hooked on a new hobby. Mealtime became an exercise in recipe experimentation, to the point my son asked me if we could have "regular" chicken as a special treat. I'm still considering. Despite the hardship (ha!) on my family, success in cooking competitions has earned me multiple trips and valuable prizes over the past twenty years. Meeting fellow cooking competitors has enriched my life immeasurably. Throughout my culinary journey, writing has always been a passion.
