12 Nov 2025
00:54:13
Brian and Richard are back for Episode 591 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Did JHS just break a pedal paradigm and has Brian invented a new type of electric guitar?
Blake has traveled back in time to the land of 56kb Internet so Brian and Richard are back in control. Brian has caught the illness that everyone else has and Richard has a remedy. Did you see the new JHS "Troika" delay pedal? The guys are really keen to discuss some of the unusual and interesting features and design choices.
Brian drops a hint about something nerdy and circuit related which may or may not be comparable to Netflix. IK Multimedia have released the ToneX in a new format and it inspires the chaps to come up with a whole new product. Richard wishes to bring Brian to Englandshire for Christmas.
Are gear influencer's not as influential as they once were? With the change in Youtube's algorithms and the shape of the gear industry seeming to have shifted the guys discuss this in the context of a recent video from friend of the show, Henning Pauly. Brian makes a shocking and frankly deeply disturbing guitar announcement.
Big Beans, Wasp Misidentification, The Team of Jake, Bloody mince pies, Widdle widdle strum strum, a Burdensome burden, it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 590 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian wrecks another guitar and ponders what it is like to be knobyfied!
Brian once again eschews the uniform requirements for the podcast much to the chagrin of Richard and Blake and he now looks 20% scarier. Dave Mustaine is in the news for covering a Metallica song as a bow out on his final Megadeth album and the guys are all for it.
Meanwhile Richard is unwell and has discovered his father had a groovy moment in the 1960's which led to the discovery of a new album. A new device called the Knobyfier caught Richard's eye and the guys discuss it whilst trying to avoid the normal grade school jokes.
Back in Martinsville, Brian has accidentally damaged a guitar and it has bummed him out a little. He drops some major hints about Wampler's next few releases. The guys stumble across a new guitar based phone accessory and they fall in love with it and Brian dreams about owning a tricycle and not giving away billions of dollars. Job's a good 'un.

581 - Brian's video with Rick Beato, Exploding tubes, and the BOSS PX-1
05 Sep 2025
01:00:19
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 581 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian's video with Rick Beato, Exploding tubes, and the BOSS PX-1
Richard is feverish with excitement about the new Rick Beato interview with David Gilmour whereas Brian and Blake are almost completely nonplussed. This somehow becomes a discussion about pork chops before the guys look at some controversial comments from another ex-member of Pink Floyd.
Boss have released a new pedal, the PX-1, which is a 'plugin loader' pedal and the guys look into it and have some interesting views about why the Internet shouldn't be as mad as they are. Brian thinks it looks a bit like a LEGO pedal - but that may not be such a bad thing. Do you still use a Wah pedal? Brian sets forth the motion that nobody does any more.
Brian also managed to nearly set fire to his barn when one of his amps went supernova and he tell us all about it. Richard has a new pedal day with a vintage classic and the guys nerd out about op-amps. Finally Blake is allowed to talk about his new amp day and there is much rejoicing.
Celtic mixups, Wampler hyperbole, AARP, Bob and the Cohorts, Voltage lies, Josh based correction...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

491 - So, about that new Wampler Germanium Tumnus pedal then...
13 Dec 2023
00:52:42
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian welcomes us with tales of the sheer mania that occurred when we released a limited edition pedal that sold out instantly and he now wants to start manufacturing diodes for a living. There is some chatter about the technology inside the new Germanium Tumnus, the guys try to dispel a few common myths, and Richard tells us how he managed to break Google - and then invents something completely useless.
Blake and Brian give away a few video production tips for anyone trying to create their own gear channel and Richard laments the marketing efforts he and Brian made for a pedal that had already sold out. Meanwhile Brian is thinking about setting up a Wampler custom shop and gives you, dear listener, a heads up on this while Blake dreams of a new Leviathan fuzz and Richard has an epiphany!
Richard is worried about a porcine invasion into American lands and he quizzes the guys until there is a display of utter stupidity and farm based questioning. A proclamation about a new fuzz kit for the royal realms is heralded by Blake who also has a new gear day with an unexpected piece of kit and the guys love it. Brian accuses Richard of making things up.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
We are joined today by Blake's manifestation of Maria Carey before Brian confounds his cohosts and we repeat the rules of Whamageddon for the benefit of the hard of thinking. Is Blake predicting the future and is Brian aware of the present? Almost. There is big pedal news too! Brian is releasing a very special pedal and he tells us all about it in this episode and it is sure to sell out quick - so this is an exclusive tip off for our beloved listeners!
Brian goes into great detail about a special component that makes this circuit sound a little different and there is some deep nerdery and unsolicited Lord of the Rings references. Meanwhile Richard went to meet industry legend Captain Anderton at his secret lair (ok, it's not so secret) and his mind is blown by the sheer number of beautiful things he got to look at, including the equally legendary Danish Pete.
What's your favorite speaker cab? The guys talk about their person favorite cab configurations and some potential speaker upgrades. An internet person has accused Brian of something and the guys chat around the concept of original circuits before passing on some ill thought and unprepared faux psychology tips.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Welcome, listeners, to some serious guitar talk! This week the biggest subject has to be the new Notaklon pedal construction set from the fine folk at JHS and we look at the sheer marketing genius that went into this release. Richard is impressed and dismayed in equal measure and predicts the future of internet memes. Brian has ideas and Blake postulates that guitarists shouldn't own soldering irons before Brian gives a rather major hint and then grows increasingly confused about his own pedals.
What's the weirdest music conspiracy theory you have ever heard? Richard opens up this debate based around a video he watched and Brian makes a world podcasting exclusive before discussing some news in the tech world. He also has beef with a waxwork model of Jimi Hendrix and tells us why. Richard witnessed the actor Jason Momoa recreating the graphics for the Wampler Pantheon on SNL and it blew his mind and talks to us about it with some mild idiocy.
Blake channels his inner lycanthrope and Brian dreams of wearables while the guys return the debate to Idiocracy. Meanwhile in the Shred Shed young Blake ponders the desirability of a pedal that bestows the tonality of an MP3 on your guitar before the subject of limited use pedals comes up. Richard lowers the tone when he mentions a disgusting pizza before he moves on to biscuits and gravy and Blake tells him why he is wrong about nearly everything.

22 Nov 2023
00:54:41
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian has had orders from the very top to create a certain new type of pedal and he has been burning the midnight oil to achieve this so we start off by listening to his merry tales. Blake channels his inner royalty and Richard questions the levels of surveillance and espionage that Brian is currently engaged in.
Another Kickstarter guitar has surfaced, promising to change the world as we know it, and the guys rapidly form some views and talk about them. Meanwhile Brian has been thinking up new pedal names and the results are of course completely brilliant. Richard has been pontificating about changing his guitar practice habits and makes a point of telling us.
The Beatles are at number one in charts and Richard is aghast and enthused as only he can be. Brian has worked on a song than has lethal potential as demonstrated when the other hosts nearly die laughing. Richard made a romantic gift for his wife and ruins it with his odd humor but has also some country music confessions. Brian has made a new course and you can find it at guitarpedalcourse.com.

487 - Wampler goat coffee and the new Beatles song
15 Nov 2023
01:00:23
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
We start off with an unusually medical introduction and Blake has new monitors but is very secretive about them but offers some beauty tips. Meanwhile Richard has had a goody bag from the amazing Markus Reeves of Reeves Electro and was highly impressed. Blake opens up an old wound with Richard and it stings. It stings hard.
What takes 300ma and makes the Internet lose its mind? There's a new tuner from the tech wizards at Walrus Audio and the guys talk about it and Brian has some ideas on how to use it before evoking "that" solo again. He also gives us a few interesting tips on tuning and his favorite tuners. The new Beatles video makes Richard scratch his head but Brian is surprisingly indifferent. Richard asks whether the Beatles are the greatest pop group of all time and this leads to Blake singing some Backstreet Boys.
Blake wants a new signature Stratocaster and Richard takes the proverbial but admits that it is a beautifully put together guitar before dreaming up a new way of blackmailing potential advertisers. Then the British government disconnects Richard from the grid. Brian has been working on a new course about gain and he tells us all about it. Ai Joe Rogan reads the Patreon credits.

486 - Halloween Spooktacular, fake guitar strings, and the Duke of delay
09 Nov 2023
00:48:11
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian heralds this episode in with a very royal fanfare and there is much merriment and delusion filled laughter as we hail the British King of fuzz. Brian hasn't been sleeping because he's been coming up with a multitude of crazy new ideas and he tells us about that as the guys trade age and caffeine based tales.
Richard tries to give the episode a Halloween theme against a backdrop of mild protestations and we discover that Brian has been out gigging on the Chickin' Picken' circuit. Brian tells us about the scary movies he has seen and the guys talk about scary music and wax lyrical about John Carpenter's musical chops. Richard discusses "Diabolus in Musica" as the discussion on spooky music threatens to become intellectual but the guys quickly rectify that.
Have you ever struck your elbow with a telecaster? It really hurts and the guys talk about guitar related mishaps before discussing a recent controversy in two parts starting with a discussion about "mojo" components and then the evil practice of dressing up newer components to look exactly like vintage ones. Meanwhile Brian has some unhygienic plans for the holiday season and makes a proclamation that has both his co-hosts questioning reality. Ai Gandalf reads the credits.

485 - Guitar gear controversy and how to make the distort
01 Nov 2023
00:58:07
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
There is some prime guitar related content, allegedly, as the guys look at a recent moment of controversy involving a guitar learning tool and Richard makes a shocking personal revelation or two. Brian, on the other hand, has been arguing with machines. It is exactly as moronic as it sounds. Blake tries to inject some sensibility back into the conversation with limited success.
Blake wears two different hats, and reminds us he doesn't like one of the bestselling pedals of all time. Brian fires Richard on air before backing down and reaching an agreement about the best way to learn the guitar. Richard nearly knows all the chords and Brian mocks British bands of the 1990's. Some footage of Mr Oliver playing drums with Andy Wood has been leaked to the internet.
How do you feel about music while you eat? Blake has views and the guys chat about the pros and cons while Richard mentions a recent story involving a world famous producer and the loudness of a DJ , and Blake demonstrates his ability to deliver the worst Mick Jagger vocal impersonation ever. Brian has invented a new club for dullards, and Richard has found a new amp to GAS over from the boffins at ENGL. Ai Batman reads the credits.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian has been dabbling with technology whereas Blake's mind is going at a million miles a minute and he may just be losing his mind. This is the result of caffeine abuse and Brian is confused. Blake has been to see a punk band which leads to a debate about the best looking Les Paul ever. Whats the most annoying injury you can have as a guitar player? Richard has a theory and expounds upon it.
Richard found himself not just attending but also presenting at a masterclass with Wampler Artist (and friend of the show) Andy Wood - and so the self titled 'English King of Fuzz' expounded on his knowledge. He also got to look at a very special Les Paul and tells us all about it. There was a really cool coincidence and there was really hot Indian food and a secret jam may or may not have taken place with the Electric Love Aquatone.
The guys have discovered a new guitar gimmick and they discuss the merits of it and Brian has a number of product ideas. Richard apologises to the Big F as he was given a bum steer on some information about the Tone Master Pro. He also has some further DIY questions for Professor Wampler and so is schooled in a methodology that may or may not serve him for life. Brian saw some UFOs and has a minor Patreon update. Airnold Schwarzenegger reads the credits.

483 - Brian collaborates on a very special pedal...
18 Oct 2023
00:53:17
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
There's a lot going on in the world, happily that includes some pedal releases, and so Blake comes in with some of his own special extrovert phantasmal energy to help launch the new Benson Amps delay pedal. Brian and Richard discuss nerdy things to do with circuits, discuss some of the previous Wampler delay pedals (including the Wampler Metaverse), and remarkably Blake remains awake throughout. Meanwhile Brian had a listener tip off about impulse responses.
Meris have also released a new pedal - the Mercury X - a reverb pedal with lots of fun options and Blake has being playing with it while Richard laments not having one and Brian channels the Australian Beatles. Richard has however been playing with the Black '65 pedal and got unexpected results and tells the guys about this while the guys talk about making mix tapes on cassette.
Brian's been to Hollywood - he's a bit of a big deal don't ya know - and he tells us about his experience with street musicians and has some interesting observations. There is some food talk too. There is also talk of things that may not need to actually exist with a Stratocaster accessory that Richard is uncertain about. Finally, Brian announces a collaboration with another pedal manufacturer and you are going to love the result...
Blake must freeze, Kit and caboodle, Gregorian chants, Exposure bucks, Hector Schecter, 60' Cycle Hum...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

482 - There's a new sheriff in town - the Fender Tone Master pro
11 Oct 2023
00:55:37
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake's ready to become cybernetic so he ponders his potential upgrade path before the guys discuss a huge new release announcement from Fender, the Tone Master pro. Its a full scale digital modeling solution and it has the guys attention. Meanwhile, Richard is made to eat his words about who is the biggest fender fan on the show. But he is impressed with the marketing power of the aforementioned Californian guitar sculptors and believes it will be a big seller.
Who do you think are the three biggest brands in the guitar space? Richard has views and the guys make foolish and severely dangerous suggestions and at some point Brian summons the magic jazz bong before he laments the interface for his switcher again. Going back to the Tone Master, the guys talk about the processing power, the interface, and all the exciting bits in-between.
Mark Tremonti has announced he is getting into pedal building and Brian offers him some insight and encouragement and the guys imagine how the meetings might go down with his development team. There are inventions too - the new multi-surround amp from England's new king of fuzz amongst them - and it degenerates into further unwarranted idiocy before we look at Blake's new guitar. Richard gets label rage and we discover Brian is an Edgelord and is selling more guitars and contemplating upgrades. Ai Hank Hill reads the credits.

580 - The greatest guitar gear deal ever and is Brian working with the military?
27 Aug 2025
00:56:01
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 580 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - The greatest guitar gear deal ever and is Brian working with the military?
Blake is cursing at his air conditioning and Richard is wearing heavy metal t-shirts while Brian is in an indeterminate state of undress. Yes, it is business as normal here at Chasing Tone. Brian has an idea for an amp and the fellers may just be on to something.
Richard takes us through the un-boxing of his new drum Kit having completely forgotten he talked about elements of this last week because he is both old and an idiot but he has had an epiphany. What is the perfect ratio of amplifiers to guitars? Richard finds himself unusually short.
Someone made a mistake and accidentally discounted a suite of plugins and the guys discuss consumer expectations and trying to get one over on the man. Somehow this involves some British folklore from the 1990s and the guys invent a dangerous new sport.
Water cooled amplifiers, Hoover free flights, Quiche, Bad career advice, Vegetable wars, Eddie Vedder Tele, Subwoofer flatulence...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

481 - The Telecaster is a great instrument, but...
04 Oct 2023
00:49:23
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
The guys start off with an unhealthy dose of utter nonsense before looking at some of the gear news of the moment including the new IR-X from Friedman. It has real tubes in it and Brian is a fan. Richard asks stupid questions and Blake sniggers at him. Brian talks about frequency spectrums. A pedal is virtually designed and it is laughed out of the room and Richard gets some appreciation bucks from Brian.
What is the oldest enclosure you have ever seen for an instrument? Richard tries to lay out a mysterious story and Brian fails to take the bait so he threatens to send him pedals. Meanwhile Brian tells us about the multitude of excellent business ideas he is constantly propositioned with. Richard says something that gets Brian's brain whirring and the result has implications.
Richard has been falling back in love with his telecaster and Brian and Blake can't understand why he ever put it down in the first place. Blake offers some advice about scale lengths and tells us all about a really cool conversation he had with a great guitarist and then talks to the guys about interface design and ergonomics.

480 - The return of the Tweed '57 and the Black '65
27 Sep 2023
00:55:21
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Wampler have released limited editions of two of their most popular products from the past, the Tweed'57 and the Black'65 "Amp in a Box" pedals, and Brian breaks down a little bit of the history of how they came to be. He also makes a number of potentially foolish video based confessions. Brian explains the core properties of the tone-stacks of the amp's these were based around, and how these pedals are a little different then normal drive pedals. He also explains the subtle improvements with the newer versions vs the originals, the unique switching modes, and the pedal gain structures - before hinting at a special set of videos...
Richard has unusual pedal related habits and breaks them down whilst also telling the guys about the design changes on the new pedals. He has also been using a pedal he created himself on his rig and it has made him very very happy, and he made a new Fuzz pedal too and it was perhaps his most successful circuit build ever. His enclosure however - well that was a failure. A terrible yet amusing failure.
Have you heard about the "Not for Josh" pedal from Poison Noises? Blake absolutely loves his and the guys talk about it. Richard, filled with confidence from his pedal build, asks some stupid questions. Blake then gives us a more detailed explanation of why Josh of JHS will never own this pedal. Never! Richard then asks how certain components work and Brian goes deep into science. NERD ALERT.
Brian's potty mouth incursions, Waterslides, Licking solder, Three lugs, Voltage dividers, Oh cool - more bass...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian starts off with some pure filth and Richard tells us tales of the life of an English school kid which massively confuses Brian and Blake. Meanwhile, Richard has graduated from pedal kits and has made his own pedal from scratch and tells us about it. He makes a slight tiny mistake, well, many, and informs us of his errors in great detail.
Brian lowers the tone further before the guys talk about solder, op amps, tone stacks, and fuzz benders. He redeems himself by schooling Richard in some fundamentals and they discuss the next project. Blake then wakes up. Richard has been generating AI music and tells us of his adventures whilst offending Blake massively and then they create a new Sci-Fi film.
What do you think the most famous guitar in the world is? Blake asked this question on social media and has a debate with the guys, and you might be surprised by the conclusion. Also, if you haven't joined the Patreon yet, this week the guys announce the some exclusive Wampler Pedal news exclusively for Patreons. Oh, and you definitely won't want to miss this weeks credits...

478 - The secret that the pedal industry has been keeping for years
13 Sep 2023
00:47:24
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake has been struggling with various household appliances and Brian has helpful diagnostic information while Richard provides an interesting view on electrical safety differences between certain countries. There is an update to a previous story regarding a famous gear Youtuber / Retailer and how the British advertising authorities reacted and what that means moving forward.
Richard provides an overview of his latest pedal DIY experiments and reveals his first ever pedal (built from a kit - what a cheat!)...and he has plans for the future. Naturally he made some noobish errors but luckily Brian was on hand to roundly mock him and provide good advice. Brian has been melting in the heat but has some great advice on component choice for any fellow nerds that are interested. Blake has a nap but wakes up when talk of powder coating occurs.
Blake has been installing new active pickups and tells us all about them and Brian offers up his consultancy services before telling us about his new snack discovery via the medium of increasingly terrible Dad jokes. Brian has also been considering making a new pedal / doorbell combination and Richard has found a new pedal "format" for budding pedal DIY nerds to get more hands on with their tone which may result in his expulsion from the guild of pedal makers.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Richard makes some bold and outrageous claims about his fuzz pedal credentials having built exactly one pedal ever and has had some help from one of our supporters and tells us all about it before he and Brian have a genius business idea. Yes genius that is what i said. Blake enquires about the density of a key component and Richard has the geekiest thing he has ever owned.
Brian has had a long weekend, a veritable blur of guitar activity, and he tells us all about the Woodshed Guitar experience. He hung with some of the finest players and effects minds in the business - and possibly trolled them all - and has an amazingly coincidental story about Brent Mason. It's fair to say a good time was had by all and somewhere out there there is footage of Brian in a hot jam. Brian also got to play the new PRS 'Telecaster' style guitar and he was surprised by his reaction.
There has been some controversy in the guitar word related to a well known retailer / youtuber and their involvement with an amp company which the guys were surprised by as they all thought it was common knowledge. The guys look at the serious side but also can't help but see the funny side too. There's also an update on the Van Halen video we discussed last week.

476 - Nashville Connections and Cascading Gain Circuits!
30 Aug 2023
00:51:01
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian and Blake come at Richard with some stereotyping and then Richard confesses he has been listening to some country music and some classic American rock. Is this a negative reality inversion? Meanwhile Blake tells us about a recent vacation where he got to play a guitar that needed serious setup. Brian asks about Richard's DIY and immediately regrets at least some of it and we soon discover its now turned into a bonafide addiction and a risk of fire. It's like Brian has opened up a whole new world for Richard as he babbles away about J201s and resistor values.
A video of Van Halen performing in the UK in the 1980s surfaced for about 24 hours and there was an insane Eddie solo that the guys talk about prior to discussing the restoration of another classic rock film. Meanwhile Brian's been to Nashville to hang out with the legendary Brent Mason and tells us about his preparations for the Andy Wood 'Woodshed Guitar Experience' - which he is definitely excited about. Blake ruminates about next year's NAMM.
Fender have lifted their UK prices which has caused some consternation, and this leads on to some conversation about some new special edition guitars. Blake gives us some logical reasons for Fenders pricing strategy. Have you ever had much experience with flying with a guitar? How did that work out for you? Brian tells us a tale and the guys chat about different strategies for travelling long distance with your guitar.

23 Aug 2023
00:56:04
Brian, Blake, and Richard are here for a classic episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian's out of town, possibly making something that is classified for someone top secret, and so we've decided to re-run one of our classic episodes for you this week with one of our favorite guests of all time, Mr Greg Koch.
If you are a member of our Patreon we did record an extra show for you to check out as a thank you for your, ahem, patronage. It would be remiss of me not to say that now is a great time to join the Chasing Tone Patreon - there are over 120 exclusive and uncensored episodes over there, and you get our undying love too. You can also join the executive producers and get a shout out every week in a random, and often hilarious* style!
Greg has some signature pedals - including the Diabolical Gristle Tone Manipulator - so Brian asks a little bit about them and how they came to be before the inevitable conversation about food leads on to a little talk about Greg's journey to his current tea(coffee)-total state via Keith Moon's biography...There are some serious points raised when Greg raises his own unique personality traits and how they defined the beginning of his life - he speaks pretty candidly. Greg also gives some great advice about how to get started in the music business, what it takes, what it doesn't take, and how he made it through all of the pitfalls that were placed in his way.
474 - Profiling explained and a DIY pedal beginner seeks Brian's help

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake has an anecdote about the Dave Matthews band which he shares with the guys while Richard talks about Threads and an advert that uses the same piece of stock music as this show does. Brian recalls the time he met Hartley Peavey, Blake worries about the provenance of his hat, and Richard talks about the new Jake. E. Lee signature amp from Dave Friedman which he very much loves.
How do you set the whammy bar up on your 'Strat? Richard asks the question because he saw a great tip on the interwebs and wants to share it with the listeners, but has to struggle agains certain negative attitudes towards said instrument. Meanwhile, Brian rants in silence while the guys hurl insults at him. The guys then look at the myth of the backplate and whether it is acoustically or electrically significant and Richard is getting into DIY pedals. Brian give his some helpful tips on soldering and breadboarding and general DIY advice. Let's see how much Richard listens to him...
Would you rather have a really rubbish amp or a really rubbish guitar? The guys chat about this and about how important the right cab can be while Brian struggles to think of a name for a Wah pedal. Again. Brian also confesses he has a collection of domains and this baffles Richard, who has fallen in love with a new Jazzmaster guitar and is also thinking about the Tone-X pedal. Origin has released a new Klon clone and Brian tells us a bit about the history of the Tumnus Deluxe before he and Richard drop some huge hints about a new release.
Peavey on the Teevee, Mon Chat, Ear protection, Steve Lukather, Megadeth disappointment, Steve Martin, Mustard crimes...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
The guys go straight in at 80,000 feet with the UFO hearing in the USA that dominated the news for about 24 hours and discuss the ramifications of such revelations. Brian speculates that there is more going on and Richard uses a long word and tells us about the horrific weather he has experienced this summer in England. Get your tin foil hat ready.
The legendary amplifier company Sunn has been resurrected from the past and the chaps discuss the history of the brand and its products. Blake goes into some detail and talks about the makeup of the new company while Richard gets confused multiple times and Blake threatens to revoke his podcasting licence.
Meanwhile EHX have released a brand new mini pedal line and the first one has got the guys thinking. Not too hard, to be fair, as they then try to describe the entire line and pricing strategy in possibly the least sensible way ever. The guys also stumble across a new conspiracy theory related to guitar gear that you will not want to miss. Brian makes a disturbing confession. Do you ever buy autographed items? The guys debate the music industry and how it values signatures or not as the case may be...
Cthulhu, Greasy Mitts, Soup Hat, Pog War, Scented candles, Tom Delonge, 1970's clickbait..it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
In the light of recent current events, Richard has decide to rebrand himself, so Blake helps him out with a phone call to someone before telling us about another music festival he attended. Meanwhile, Brian has been hanging out on tour buses, licking windows, and ignoring Barbie while Richard has learned how to make a nuclear device.
The guys have noticed a slew of pedal releases in the last week so ponder if there is something in the water whilst dropping a few hints. Maybe. Richard has a life-hack for stopping guitar strings from getting stinky after cooking. Kinda. He also has a genuine fix for a crappy cable and tells us all about it as he continues his quest of "one man versus every guitar cable". Richard is also thinking about making a DIY pedal kit and Brian gives him some advice.
Brian has been thinking about making an amplifier and the guys chat about how it should be specced a little before looking at some boutique pedalboard amps. Blake tells us all about his love of crooked slider knobs and how he has been pushed over the edge to buy a new delay pedal. There's also some mention of a very special guitar auction.
Knock-off Tees, Men in black, AC vs DC, The Producer knob, Barbenheimer, Kramer hot dog guitars, ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

00:45:30
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 579 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian's number one guitar buying tip and California dreaming with Tracii Guns and Norman's Rare Guitars
Richard has been living in the 1980s and has a rant. Meanwhile there was some very tragic news in the world of metal so the guys discuss it despite Internet woes. Closer to home in the pedal industry, Josh Scott from JHS had a nasty accident on his cycle so the guys do their best to send healing powers across the airwaves.
Blake spent a couple of days on the west coast and hung with almost everybody who is anybody! He tells us about his time with the legendary Norm of Norman's Rare Guitars and somehow it involves the Goo Goo Dolls. Brian shares his one tip for picking a great guitar and Blake talks about his time with friend of the show, Mr. Tracii Guns.
Brian has convinced Richard to buy new gear and there is a modicum of excitement before Bri takes it all straight to the gutter. Blake realizes that he too is becoming old and the guys compare aging woes.
Duck Update, Meris, Leisure Suit Larry, Richie Sambora, Rimshots...it’s all in this week’s Chasing Tone!

471 - Trey Xavier - Helping us all make music better!
26 Jul 2023
00:57:27
Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by the ultra talented YouTube sensation Trey Xavier for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
The guys are delighted to be joined by the one and only Trey Xavier this week who's "Secret Price of the Creative Life" video almost caused Brian to reach his resonant frequency and spontaneously shatter. Trey is a super nice, ridiculously talented, and ultra experienced YouTube creator and he has got a hugely popular channel where amongst other things he breaks down music as submitted by his audience.
Trey tells us all about the trials and tribulations of creating content for YouTube and how to manage the expectations of an audience and candidly speaks on the topics that trouble him, the issues he faces, and how he overcomes them. Meanwhile, Richard uses language that confuses Brian. All of the guys chip in with the debate and amazingly stay on topic throughout as they also discuss some of the surprising things they have come across on the internet as content creators.
The debate turns to the direct model for artists creating, producing, and distributing their own content and how life for musicians has radically shifted as a result. This leads on to a detailed discussion about how to build income streams from creativity and how to find your niche in an increasingly crowded creative space. The guys look at song crafting, riff writing, and commercial implications, and there are confusing breakfast cereal moments.
Those are Brian's chickens, Wiggly tape recorder, More hats, Wangs, Loopy Tingles...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake's not wearing his trademark tank top and this has turned Brian's world upside down and inside out and he confesses that he feels subnormal. To augment this Brian has been trying to use AI to build guitar pedals with some limited success so he tells us a little about the lessons he has learned and those he wished he had learned while Richard tells us about his love for Taylor Swift.
Richard tells us a bit more about the guitar auction he has become obsessed with and he highlights a couple of rarities that caught his eye and talks about his ability to destroy a Kahler trem one handed. Meanwhile Blake has been to what he calls a "Hippyfest" and he tells us all about it and schools Richard in the ways of the muffalletta.
A new social media platform was launched by Meta Corp and the guys chat about it and make some wild and baseless predictions involving lizards and AI. The guys have also been mentioned in an academic text so there is a bit of discussion on that whilst tactfully swerving a deep dive.
Chad Jepeedy, The Doors, Industrial Mincing Machine, Cuckerberg, Knob color, New pedals...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

469 - JHS Triumphs and every day is taco day at the Wampler household
12 Jul 2023
00:54:01
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake is aroused at an ungodly hour in order to fit podcasting in with his schedule of celebrations while Richard is holding speaker and amplifier brands for bargaining power as he attempts to understand the customs of his American friends. Blake is also considering expanding his empire and this turns into a conversation about land prices and his new understanding of capo love.
Josh Scott of JHS pedals did a livestream covering the Wampler Triumph and Phenom pedals and Brian and the guys chat about it. Richard has been wondering about the career longevity of hard rock singers and Brian unveils a whole new talent for vocalisation. Meanwhile Brian has been gigging and had an equipment revelation but it takes a little bit of teasing to get it out of him and Richard fumbles his words in a typically embarrassing manner.
Richard had an unexpected music shop delivery and tells Brian and Blake about the excitement it caused initially and the guys talk a little bit about the Synergy modular pre-amp system. Richard also drops some pedal hints. Kinda. Theres also been another interesting release from the clever fellers over at Warm Audio and the guys check it out whilst simultaneously proving they are all massive hypocrites. Also kinda.
Chase Bliss Tank Tops, Cyan LEDs, Dwight Shultz, Terraform lies, The Piesley drive, They're ALL tube screamers...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake is back from Sweetwater's gearfest and he is quite excited to share the many random shenanigans he has been involved in including participating in various manly exercises with Dovydas. He's also hung out with pretty much everyone who is anyone in the gear world and dishes up all the juicy gossip. Well. Kinda. Blake also got to try out the new PRS T-Style guitar and has views - and Brian admits he is open to trying one.
Brian's been messin' with "Eye of the Tiger" and also he's been messin' with the guys. Blake has also been hanging with the guys from Shure and has some microphonic knowledge to impart with us all before the guys look at a controversial subject - acoustic guitars with printed relic'ing...and then we have a podcast first...a live gear reveal
Richard watched a weekend's worth of Glastonbury and has some views that may or may not be both baseless and controversial. But generally he really enjoyed it and was surprised by his favorite act of the weekend and refreshed by the simple act of discovering a couple of new bands (well - new to him). Richard's also been playing with his Soldano Miniamp and a Wampler Ethereal and loves it very much. Oh, AI pedals, thats a thing too.

Brian, Richard, and, (checks notes), Jake are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake is away to Sweetwater for some sort of content creator jamboree so we are blessed to be joined by the giant intellect of Jake Steffes, Wampler's top engineer, and he has some grievances to air. Richard is intrigued to hear about Jake's early years, how he got into electronics and how he wound up making awesome pedals via Brian's legendary deck and fishpond.
Brian and Richard have a genius idea for a new sport. Sorry, not genius, whats the word I'm looking for? Idiotic. Yes Idiotic. The guys then take a look at the history of one of Wampler's best selling pedals, the Ethereal, which was one of Jakes proudest achievements at the time despite the challenges of the limited interface. Richard also drops a large hint before Brian completely destroys him.
Paul Reed Smith have announced the Myles Kennedy signature guitar which looks somewhat like a telecaster, and so the guys talk about it. Richard is currently not a fan of the aesthetics, but he may be swayed as time heals all shocks, and admits he would be up for trying one. There is some Bass talk, and there is band talk, because Jake happens to be a fantastic player in an awesome band! The guys then look at the topology of the new Boss delay machine and Jake breaks down what he loves about it in an almost on-topic section of the podcast.
4 legged transistors, StupidGPT, Circuit board saw, Terraformalayverbstortion, Flying Figs, the 18 inch pedal, Lockjaw, we love BBDs, Zucc vs Musk...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian has been playing with some new audio hardware and we open up hard and fast with his new purchase and why it is pleasantly surprising and why he should never be allowed near the naming of pedals. Meanwhile Fender have announced a brand new fuzz pedal which has set the internet ablaze with interest and the guys take a misinformed sidewards glance at this news while Blake salivates muchly.
Our good friend Mr Robert Keeley has made some limited edition "Pepper" grinders and Richard is very envious about this exotic culinary device. Richard also saw an awesome pedalboard hack on the Wampler Tone Group and he talks about why it is the way forward. He also has an exclusive David Gilmour related tip and he shares it all for you dear listener before making wildly inaccurate assumptions about synthesisers and trying to talk about Acoustasonics again.
Did Joe Bonamassa have the greatest new guitar day ever? We think he may just have with his latest purchase from Norman's Rare Guitars...Have you ever bought a cheap imported clone guitar from abroad? How did that work out for you? Brian's tempted and the guys chat about knockoff guitars and crazy merchandise before Brian invents the greatest ever doorbell thus proving he is the ultimate in non-human intelligence.
The Guitarnation, Artificial Brian, Government hacks, Breaking news live on air, Blackmail, the portable peanut butter porter...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by the one and only Cory Wong for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
We are joined by the legend that is Cory Wong and naturally we talk compression and specifically the Wampler x Cory Wong Compressor. First though, it's calculator nostalgia - because why not? Cory then gives us a little insight into his early days, his formative influences, and the mindset he developed that has got him to where he is today. Creative folk are going to absolutely love this episode!
Brian is curious to learn about some of the bands that influenced Cory and also how he built up his ridiculously precise sense of rhythm. He tells us a trick that anyone can follow but it may cause marital issues and it requires dedication. Cory also breaks down the formula for his influences in a candid interview while also showing us how he channels his creativity into his art.
Cory also details the songwriting process he follows from the ground up and then we get on to some reader questions - most of which are vaguely sensible. He tells us some session work tales and then Brian and he analyze how the Wampler x Cory Wong compressor came to be and what makes it different. Cory also graciously joins us for the first part of the Patreon so this might be a good week to join us for the secret stuff...
Please note - because this is a long and information-dense episode we didn't manage to get the producers names in at the end - sorry bout that - normal service resumes next week...well I say "normal"....
Drug Wars, Skateboards, Nile Rogers, obscure Blackadder reference, Production tips...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
464 - Soldering irons are dangerous and everyone loves a heavy pedal....

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake has been collecting Brians and we discover what on earth this actually means this week in an all new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast! He also has a new pedal from Origin and has fallen in love with it so he spills the beans. Not literally, that would be messy. Meanwhile Brian has a new obsession that leaves Richard distinctly unimpressed.
Richard has been learning about the importance and power of good arrangement in music production and tells us an anecdote or two about what he learned before Brian and Blake break out the cowbells. Richard also tries to convince the guys about the Fender Acoustasonic and may as well be talking to a brick wall so he creates a new sitcom revolving around Brian and his love of patch cables.
Brian admits to some very strange beach habits before tackling the opening topic Richard had prepared, and then steals Richard's idea which almost causes an implosion. He also makes some bold predictions about the future which are possibly insightful. And then the credits. Oh, the credits.
Gordon's alive, Natural born genius, Royal Blood, Hi Ren, Swimming laws...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
463 - The $48,000 Stratocaster and Brian visits Brent Mason in Nashville
31 May 2023
00:59:41
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian has been banned from using a certain AI program and Blake has eaten a mighty breakfast which the guys open up with. Meanwhile Brian has been to Nashville - and there is discussion about castles - and he also went to see Brent Mason and ended up one incredibly beautiful Strat better off! The world's least secret proto-type-type gets a mention again while Brian suffers from some serious whammy bar distress.
What sort of tuners do you like on your guitar? The guys have views and they discuss it via the medium of weak family guy references and the Wu-Tang Clan. Meanwhile Blake has been breaking guitar hardware and Brian has been down the 3D printing rabbit hole on Reddit and considers a range of products he could print himself.
Fulltone have announced they are coming back to the market and the guys chat about it and the bubble in prices that happened recently when they announced they were ceasing production. Boss have released a new twin delay pedal, with a special EVH inspired version, and so the guys take a look at it while Brian tells us about how old he is and how he wants to revisit his Strat tossing days.
Robust drinking fellows, Granulated turrets, Underground mushroom cellars, How Brian Djents, Withnail & I, The many temptations of Richard...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake is excited about his new clothing purchases and Richard admits to certain middle age features. Welcome to the dad fashion episode. Meanwhile Richard got to visit the studio of McFly and gives us a report on what he found. Mainly guitars. Lovely guitars - and awesome solos too...
Brian's been thinking about Strats again...will this result in a new mini obsession for Captain Wamps? Well lets wait and see...charts may be involved. The boys do well to uphold a new ban on Brian's favoured technology fetishes and Blake tells us all about his incoming new guitar.
Richard made an incredibly foolish bet on the Eurovision song contest and tells us of his observations from the performance including the appearance of a guitar he has never seen before. Brian has found an advert looking for a new musician in Craigslist and is thinking of applying to join the band and the guys look at a large security breach.
The genius of George Lucas, Meteora...Bass?, BA Baracus, Borderline Toxic, Gentle Yanks, the squarest venue in Squaretown ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

00:56:22
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 578 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Tascam style pre-amp pedals, the future of guitar gear, and the guys set a new record
Brian open's the episode with a little education on the Tascam 424 sound and the work of Mk.Gee as we take a very brief look at the new release from JHS. Richard is disappointed he didn't guess the teaser riddle and is dazzled by a revelation from the past.
Would you watch Ai generated gear review videos? According to a new report, 9 out of 100 of the biggest growing YouTube channels is generated entirely by Ai and the guys discuss what this means for the future of our industry. This moves on to a discussion about the future of guitar equipment.
Brian makes a confession about a potential crime he committed in the past and how the police got called on him. Have you ever built your own amp? Richard mulls it over and Blake tells him about a mutual friend's DIY build.

461 - John Mayer is using three separate pedalboards on his solo tour?
17 May 2023
00:52:12
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian fantasises about British Hulk Hogan as we slip into todays crevice of disorderly and disjointed discussion nuggets. Firstly there is some talk about female vocalists and Brian reveals who his favorite female fronted band is. There is a new CEO at Gibson so the guys talk about what this might mean for such a prestigious and historic brand. Richard drops his greatest / worst (delete as applicable) pun ever.
Blake has a very rare pedal that he is willing to part with for a serious amount of cash and Brian is instructing his staff to hit more pedals with hammers. There has been some paradigm shifting news in the world of DAWs and the guys discuss this and what it means for everyone before arguing over the power of Garageband.
Richard tells us about a secret Eric Clapton gig and wonders why there were not enough guitar solos involved in the coronation of the King. He also has some technical issues and looks to his favorite guitar people for advice. Then Richard gets asked to read the end credits in an American accent and the resulting idiocy gives Blake serious breathing problems due to uncontrollable laughter.
Idiocracy, We love Henning, John Mayer memes, People pleaser strat, Cocking tubes...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian makes a confession which disappoints Blake and delights Richard so the episode begins with some serious GAS with an additional helping of buffoonery. This leads into a discussion about DIY guitar building and Blake channels his inner Bruce Dickinson.
According to the internet Blake is a string billionaire and we look into the rumors circulating about his collection of superyachts and Richard gets a well deserved spraying. Richard's been to two gigs this past week too so he tell us how they were and how he was pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised by a number of potentially amusing things.
Have you ever bought a counterfeit pedal ? the guys discuss why thats really not a good thing before looking at the longevity of Klons and repairing gooped pedals in general. The inevitable Ai discussion occurs and there are some scary thoughts and accusations that Richard is an automaton.
Romance scams, Here are the old men, Jake Shears, Dr Wamplers Degooping solution, Unexpected comfortably numb...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
459 - If Johnny Bravo played a guitar, it would be this...
03 May 2023
00:54:51
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast which this week has been sponsored by Henning Pauly's new songwriting course!
The guys start off with a little look at how the Cory Wong compressor first came to be with a couple of fond memories of our much missed tone brother Mr. Alex Clay who was integral to the conception of our latest pedal. Blake has been eyeing up new pickup sets and has settled on a brand and asks the guys for advice and almost immediately regrets it.
Richard went to see a movie and tells us all about it - Brian cannot compute - so we start speculating about everyones favorite bazillionaire social media owning rocket melon. Richard has also fallen in love with a new guitar design and almost expires whilst looking at the price of it and Brian dips his toes into the world of MusicMan guitars.
Blake has been listening to Dwight Yoakam and he and Brian reminisce via the medium of Elvis tainted vocal impersonations and bizarre anniversary related thoughts. Inevitably Brian finds a way of shoehorning more AI content in and so does so whilst plotting the ultimate prank and Richard is not convinced...
Piloting tip of the week, Cheese sections, Brian's strat confessions begin, Steamed hats, Peshwari Nan ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
458 - The Wampler x Cory Wong Compressor pedal is here!
26 Apr 2023
01:01:00
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake kicks off with a demonstration of his new super (annoying) powers (which nauseates Richard immensely) before the guys go straight in to some news from the music and Ai worlds. Someone has managed to make an Ai Kanye and it sounds particularly impressive so the guys debate what this means with their normal levels of detail and insight. Blake has been playing with the new BOSS Gigcaster which despite being used as a torture device against Richard is actually a very neat piece of kit.
Wampler Pedals have released a brand new pedal - the all new Wampler x Cory Wong Compressor & Boost - and the guys are excited to talk about it. Richard is proud of his extended April Fool joke and Brian struggles with words. In the words of the super talented Cory Wong, this is not your Dad's compressor - this is an EGO style compressor but also has a great MDX style boost circuit. In a first for Wampler pedals it also sports an "Always on" function and a simultaneously active XLR output so you can go to your recording interface and your amp together.
Blake has been to NAMM and tells us about some highlights. The guys are in love with the Binson Mechanical Echorec and chat a little bit about that. Richard makes bad jokes about the hall and some obscure Alan Partridge references before looking at some game-changing hardware that he thinks will change the guitar industry forever.
The Terrorverse, Tractors and Snakes, Blue Tick madness, Richard Sings, I am the Lizard king, 98% Bono, The Seymour Duncan Hyperswitch...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
457 - Every new pedal all at once and the Neural Miku
19 Apr 2023
00:52:32
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake comes in fast and cold with what he describes as a "mini rant" about a shopping experience he had whilst looking for a particular rare pedal and the guys discuss the joys of trying to get ones own money refunded. Meanwhile Richard has discovered that a famous rock band takes sustenance from a very traditional British drink whilst he laments about his lack of NAMM. Somehow Arnold Schwarzenegger is involved.
Speaking of NAMM, Brian tells us why he also didn't go this year whilst Blake tells us why he is excited while the guys talk about a plethora of new pedals from a number of manufacturers. Spraying may occur. There is also some sad news from the Oliver household and Richard tells all while Blake manages to cheer him up with a random story.
JHS released a new octave fuzz pedal and the guys attempt to talk about it without any knowledge of what they are speaking about - so nothing new there - and Brian mentions that we have a limited amount of quality B-Stock on the Wampler website. There were also some new pedals from Universal Audio which the guys dig and Richard is becoming more American by the minute and also gets so many things wrong but we shall excuse him for once.
Fake English news, Insider jokes, Wildlife revelations, Alien portals, Gateway to Sedona, Bullshine returns, Day of the reverbs, Toilet humor, Wuthering Heights...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Richard almost accidentally leaked a new pedal on the video version of the show and somehow this leads into a discussion about Chat GPT and pizza. Only one of those topics is worthy of the attention and it isn't the one Brian chooses. We also learn of the nefarious activities of the Welsh Secret Service whilst enjoying an almost intelligent discussion about the internet.
Blake's off to NAMM and he is worried about what he may once have said and the guys chat a little bit about this years show and the attendance thereof. He makes some interesting points about the value of the show and Richard laments the fact he has never been despite hating trade shows.
Blackstar have released the third in their line of floorboard amps and the guys try and debate it and the market space it sits in and Richard fails to describe his thoughts accurately. There was big news recently in the world of Marshall amplification and the guys dig into it and what it might mean for the brand moving forward before Richard gives us an update on his band project.

05 Apr 2023
01:04:22
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake has got some new toys and it causes much annoyance to Richard within 60 seconds and this in turn leads to irregular vitamin suspicions and a tale of Blake's Grandfather's Mexican shopping adventures. Meanwhile Brian has established what day it is and Richard schools him in the ways of time traveling and 90's rave moves.
It is the final part of the DAW deep dive and it starts off with a disclaimer about terminology and professionalism in journalism. Brian then goes into the nature of Reverb and plugins and IRs and talks about using it in a recording environment a little before telling us about some Wampler Pedals that he are available from IK multimedia. There is some exclusive plugin news and Blake has a neat hack for increasing your ability to add effects to tracks in your DAW. Richard then manages to confuse himself by multitasking and gets various things wrong multiple times.
There were some leaked pedals which the guys discuss and pay particular attention to a control choice. Gibson have launched an expensive tribute to the original "Greeny" Les Paul and a friend of the show has bought one which leads to some silly product placement and a discussion about why it actually represents great value for money.

Brian has been burning the candle at both ends as they say as he has been working on number of new circuits. This leads the guys onto a discussion about a certain green simian themed pedal that has been literally meme'd to death. There has also been a lot of slightly dubious information circulating the interwebs about the circuit design of this particular pedal so Brian breaks it down and gives us a look at what made this pedal different.
Brent Mason is being inducted into a very prestigious event and Brian has been asked to pick out his favorite songs and it has caused his brain to melt and provokes Blake and Brian into some very bizarre a capella guitar stylings. Richard does his best to ignore and tells us a little about some playing he's been enjoying.
Finally the guys get onto Part Two of the deep dive into DAWs and Richard immediately goes down the wrong path. They guys correct him and start off by talking about miking up a guitar and recording into a DAW and Brian gives us a few choice tips on placement, phasing, and mullets. Richard lets us in on his delay secrets and also offers practical tips for not frying your cpu. There is BIG coyote news this episode too...

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Richard suffered some time travelling issues as he rolled into this show and feels a new affinity with his American chums as a result. Brian, on the other hand, goes political again and Blake indulges in some Anglophobic aquatic hate speech before announcing his undying love for a new piece of gear.
Brian has to write a lot of "Q"s and the guys are suspicious about his motivations for doing so and of course Chat GPT comes back in to focus. Richard has been learning about how some educational establishments are tackling the growing problem of Chat GPT teaching and Brian quickly dismissed his views.
There was a message from a listener this week (Thanks Nick) which asked whether the guys would have a little dive into the world of DAWs and guitar recording so the guys attempt to do just that with mixed results. This episode feels extremely on topic. Must be something in the water. Oh look Richard messed up another initialism, business as normal then.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian advises that Blake should isolate himself in the shred shed as he appears to have developed several interesting strains of virus in his household, and is then amazed at the girth of baritone strings. This leads into some admiration of the current Squier range and Baritone scale length discussion. Brian then goes into a mysterious black hole and Richard does his best to rescue him but fails miserably as it degenerates into a local politics discussion.
Richard has bought a new guitar - and the time it took from telling Brian and Blake it existed to buying it was a new show record. He's changed his mind about reliced guitars and Brian manages to drag the conversation back to the gutter. There is also some discussion about the new Marshall pedal reissue range, including Brian breaking down part of the schematic, and he also gets called out in public.
Brian has been educating Richard on amp setup with predictably amusing results before attempting to do an a cappella tap solo. Meanwhile Blake ponders whether Dave Grohl is the nicest man in music. He's certainly up there. Like the UFO that Richard saw. Yes you read that right. Theres also some talk about the weird emotions that one goes through when selling a guitar.
Monstrous swords, Mallard updates, Lying Ai, Time travel conundrums, Qunintruple denim, the court of the crimson king,...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 577 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Introducing the Quad Fusion and why Bruce Dickinson hates your concert footage
Blake has celebrated another year on planet tone and the guys celebrate by discussing the various foodstuffs he consumed. Richard has received a couple of not so mysterious pedals that he is in love with and JHS have teased a new release via the medium of Riddle which he thinks he has solved...maybe.
Our intrepid Portlandian reporter is also about to interview the head honcho himself from Norman's Rare Guitars and the guys are excited. Brian has a new idea for an battery powered amplifier and the guys discuss portable amplification circuits. Richard spotted a few familiar looking pedals on Gem archer of Oasis' pedalboard and the guys dissect a low resolution image.
A lot of musicians turn to acting - but what about actors who turn to music - can they cut the mustard? The guys debate this and Richard makes a shock admission. Do you film the concerts you attend? The lead singer of Iron Maiden has shared some views about this and there is some interesting chat about this subject. Blake claims Richard is a monocle wearer.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
It's Blake's turn to join the ranks of the unwell this week, and he's not annoyed at all, and Richard has been rendered 25% more stupid as a result of visiting a well known front page for the internet. Blake's also been working a new harmonizer pedal with Mr. Black and tells us all about it while Brian yells at clouds before breaking down some facts about the Tennessee Twanger.
JHS released some new fuzzes and a battery sag utility pedal and the guys talk about it despite horrendous lag before looking at other random pedals. Brian laments the difficulties of pedal naming and Richard points out a problem he's come across more than once. Blake has found a new favorite frequency with some practical results and tells us all about it.
Why do we stop exploring new music as we get older? The guys talk about an article that breaks down some of the reasons we may have for looking to new music more in certain parts of our life. Richard attempts to give a half-baked synopsis which prompts Brian into Hillbilly robot summariser mode. No - not the Chat GPTS!! AAAaaarrrrgh
Advanced levels of humor, Rhyming slang, Egg facts, Duckman, Tom Delonge, Blake IS weird, Jazz confessions...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian is contemplating a career as a professional whistler and goat sound impersonator while Blake has been annoying his family with his wrestling impressions and Richard wants to talk about guitars. Welcome to Chasing Tone!
Blake has his new Tube Amp expander and the guys talk about this and some battery powered tomfoolery too. If Brian can put a switch and a blue LED on it, he's definitely gonna be doing it. Richard wants a new pedalboard and has some wood envy and the guys look into how to fix this.
Have you ever wondered how much money guitar players actually make? The guys watched this video and discussed it for a minute before the inevitable tangental traversal occurred. Eventually they return to the subject and there is some actual rational debate. Not much, but some.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
The saga of Brian's use of Chat GPT to avoid him ever having to communicate with other human beings continues, much to the annoyance of Richard, and the guys look at the issue of who owns the intellectual property to AI generated material. There was also an interesting article about the state of the music industry and the revenues of each form which the guys take a look at before tackling the recent Superbowl half time show.
Richard has learnt something about the production of a classic 1970's song and it blew his mind, but before he tells Brian and Blake about it, he first has to teach Brian about the song. He also reveals a terrible fact about the band's name before moving on to the gift that keeps giving, the ongoing saga of Pink Floyd and Roger Waters.
Marshall are re-releasing a bunch of pedals, including the Bluesbreaker and the Guv'nor, so the guys break down the news and Brian inevitably returns at Chat GPT for answers. Sigh. When will he learn? There was also an early release of the TONEX pedal that gets discussed and leads to some mystery. Call in Scooby!
