Welcome to YOUR Korean drama podcast! We're back with episode 2 of Crash Landing on You, and like our heroine Se-ri, we are FULLY IN North Korea now. Who knew it could be this cute and homey?! It's so charming we have to keep reminding ourselves: this is fiction, and we are talking about North Korea. 🫠🫠🫠 After Jeong-hyeok pulls Se-ri to safety, he has no choice but to hide her in his home. She meets the members of Company 5, and together they plot her way back to South Korea. We get our first real look at daily life in North Korea, meeting the village wives as they navigate blackouts and surprise inspections. Meanwhile, Jeong-hyeok heads to Pyongyang to investigate the suspicious car accident that killed the smugglers...and we finally find out who his family is. Back in the village, the unit gets word that the Lunatic Lt. is running a surprise inspection of Jeong-hyeok's house, so he tears back home to protect Se-ri. She's discovered hiding in a kimchi cellar, and just as the Lunatic Lt. raises his gun to her head, Jeong-hyeok makes a shocking announcement that stuns Se-ri and the villagers! Welcome to YOUR Korean drama podcast! Today's the day, Sarangees! It's time for our sixth drama chase: Crash Landing on You! 🌪️🪂💥❤️ We're fully ready to paraglide into North Korea with our heroine Se-ri so she can find her Jeong-hyeok! First up, we get into why we chose CLOY and why it took us SO long to rewatch it. Then we meet Yoon Se-ri, chaebol CEO of Se-ri's Choice, and step into her world. Her father, chairman of Queens Group (same name, different family from Queen of Tears!), names her his successor, much to the chagrin of her incompetent brothers and cold mother. But that doesn't hold Se-ri back. She's ready to soar and conquer anything in her way. So she goes paragliding, gets swept up in a freak tornado, and crash-lands on the North Korean side of the DMZ. Enter Ri Jeong-hyeok, a stoic North Korean army captain, who immediately accuses her of being a spy. Se-ri manages to escape, leaves Jeong-hyeok stranded on a landmine, and tries to RUN back to South Korea. Along the way, we meet Jeong-hyeok's army unit, the Company Five, who are all on a mission to hunt her down. Then there's our villain, Lunatic Lieutenant Cho Cheol-gang, who ends up killing like 5 people, which is INSANE. And we get a quick glimpse of our second male lead, Gu Seung-jun. Finally, Se-ri stumbles into a village she assumes is in South Korea. But one look at the villagers and the North Korean propaganda posters plastered everywhere, and she realizes... she's really not in Seoul anymore. Episode 1 is a fantastic set-up with GREAT world-building. SARANGEES! We made it. It's the FINAL episode of The Glory, and honestly? One of the best finales we've ever watched. Our friend Rek Lee is back on the pod to help us break down this episode and the series as a whole. The episode opens with Yeo-jeong confessing to Dong-eun that he knew about her schemes the ENTIRE time, but instead of turning her off, it makes her realize how much he likes her. Dong-eun then approaches Hye-jeong with a proposition: get revenge on Jae-joon by swapping out his eye drops and BLINDING him. It’s pretty brilliant. Yeon-jin shows up to the crime scene at Siesta and gets arrested. The white truck of doom appears and crashes into Jae-joon. Yeon-jin’s mom gets arrested. Do-young shows up to Yeon-jin’s prison just to deliver her divorce papers. With her revenge complete, Dong-eun ties up loose ends, including LEAVING Yeo-jeong behind at the beach, and visits Yeon-jin in prison one last time. There, she goads her, and we learn the truth behind who really killed Myeong-oh. With her revenge complete, Dong-eun decides to end her life on the same rooftop as So-hee, but Yeo-jeong’s mom stops her, begging her to help her son. Six months pass, and Dong-eun comes back to Yeo-jeong, where they share a kiss and decide to follow through on Yeo-jeong’s revenge plan against the crazy killer, and they recruit Hyun-nam to help. We end with Dong-eun and Yeo-jeong getting ready to fully execute their revenge plan. Then it's our final thoughts: the total body count, what we loved and didn't love about the ending, and our picks for the most epic revenge plan of the series. Naomi grew up in Minnesota, and K-dramas were her connection to her heritage. She gets into her all-time favorite dramas and sitcoms with us. We also dig into what "prestige" K-drama even means these days, and how Netflix and the big streamers are reshaping the local K-drama industry. Then, we recap. And y'all…this one is STACKED. Yeon-jin and the Detective Ajusshi spiral into full panic mode the second they clock that Myeong-oh's body has been found. Meanwhile, after that devastating apartment fire, Dong-eun FINALLY gets her mother locked away in a psych ward. Yeon-jin, ever the manipulator, works Jae-joon AGAIN, convincing him he's the only one left who can save her and Ye-sol (eyeroll). Sarangees! We're three episodes from the finale, and Episode 13 might be the biggest one yet. It builds and builds, and ends with an actual fire. We pick up in the aftermath of Dong-eun's public takedown of Sa-ra and Yeon-jin, and the fallout comes fast. Yeon-jin stays defiant and lies straight to Do-young's lawyers, while Sa-ra, all fury and no strategy, screams her way into a jail cell. Hye-jeong finally plays the secret Myeong-oh recording for Jae-joon, and his response, weirdly, is a marriage proposal. Yeon-jin's mom, still being tailed by Hyun-nam's husband, panics and runs to her shaman for help. Yeo-jeong makes his next move, and it's a big one: he applies for a job at the prison holding his father's murderer. The walls keep closing in on Yeon-jin. A spicy confrontation with Hye-jeong bleeds into an even worse one with the police officer, who has quietly decided to blackmail her, and casually reveals that Myeong-oh's body has NOT actually been buried. And then, the grand finale. Dong-eun squares off with her psycho mom, and her mom responds by torching the apartment. Hello Sarangees! We're back with episode 13 of The Glory, and OMG, it's getting SOOOO GOOOD. Yeon-jin continues to spiral as she discovers that Dr. Yeo-jeong is the guy working with Dong-eun. Her mom is freaking out over terrifying texts from Hyun-nam's husband. Mr. Bob turns out to be a real big creep, and gets beaten to a pulp by Jae-joon. Jae-joon, then, gets beaten to a pulp by Do-young, who is absolutely enraged (and very sexy) over the fact that Jae-joon showed up at Ye-sol's school acting like he's her father. Do-young FINALLY blows up at Yeon-jin, and it's GREAT. Dong-eun's mom betrays her AGAIN, leading to one of the most emotional moments of the episode. Dong-eun, while crying her eyes out, gets approached by a crazy-looking Jae-joon, and Yeo-jeong comes to save the day. She doesn't cry for long, though, because the next day, she serves up the SWEETEST revenge on Sa-ra and Yeon-jin. This episode is NUTS, y'all. These final two episodes did NOT let us down… the writers gave us the happy ending we needed! In episode 13, we FINALLY find out how Seo-ri and Dan-shim's souls switched, Se-gye and Telemundo continue their showdown, and we sit through the longest death montage ever for Seo-ri's halmoni. Then we end on the craziest cliffhanger: Se-gye gets stabbed TWICE, all because his grandfather had to go and kidnap Telemundo's son! It's nuts! Then in episode 14, we're back in the Joseon era, where Seo-ri returns to save Se-gye by saving the grand prince. She gets stuck in limbo as a "gift" from the gods, while Se-gye loses his mind looking for her. But don't worry! Seo-ri snaps out of her dreamlike state and comes back to reunite with the love of her life, Se-gye! Dan-shim and the grand prince get their own happy ending too, running off to China in the Joseon era (we don't fully understand how they end up meeting again, but we'll go with it!). The show tried to cram a season's worth of payoff into too little runway, and 12 episodes was simply not enough room for the character development this story deserved. OK, deep breaths, here we go… Hui-joo and Aide Choi save I-an from the deadly fire, and Hui-joo finally starts suspecting PM-nim — meanwhile he's already plotting to transfer I-an's regency to the Queen while our boy is still unconscious. The Queen confesses that her father tried to kill I-an, and our prince wakes up ready to ABOLISH THE MONARCHY. What?! Then the PM has the AUDACITY to threaten the Queen (he'll frame the baby King as a criminal) but she records the whole thing (TROPE TRACKER!). Hui-joo exposes his dastardly plans at a royal meeting, which gives us a tearful confrontation between I-an and the PM. The country votes to abolish the monarchy, we time-jump 3 years, Hui-joo is back at Castle Group, I-an is learning to cook (??), and we close on a kiss cam at a Castle Group baseball game. Ok… We had SO much fun reacting to Perfect Crown, even if the finale broke our hearts in the wrong way. We're thinking about doing it again for The Royal Nemesis — what do y'all think? Meanwhile, the MotherTF team is forced to pull together a chaotic commerce livestream, all thanks to the scheming J-hye, delivering peak workplace shenanigans including A KISS BETWEEN DA-RIM AND JI-HYUK! The episode ends on full chaos mode: Da-rim is kidnapped, a wild car chase ensues, and Ji-hyuk offers to “buy” Da-rim with his black card. Naturally. Cue peak workplace drama as Ji-hyuk launches a full-on mission to get Da-rim fired. But our Rimmie is not going down without a fight. Determined to keep her job, she throws herself into the baby bottle testing project with everything she’s got. Meanwhile, Sun-woo discovers that Da-rim lied about being married… to him, just as Ha-yeong starts crushing on him. The episode crescendos with Da-rim presenting her team’s baby bottle report, only for Ji-hyuk to dramatically toss it into the pool.
