| WOW Action: Saying Yes to Everything Weakens Your Influence As a Leader | 26 Mar 2025 | 00:08:11 | |
Leadership isn’t about how much you can take on, it’s about how effectively you lead and engage others to drive results in navigating a change or business initiative. But too often, leaders like you can fall into the trap of believing that saying yes to everything is a sign of dedication. You might believe that to be impactful, you must always have the answers before taking action. Or that the hardest-working leaders, the ones who continually stretch themselves thin are the most committed. In the workplace, many times you aren’t afforded the opportunity to say no to lead an assigned goal. The key is in developing an informed decision on how to prioritize key engagement needs and realigning existing demands before adding a ‘yes’ to an already full plate. Completing this recommended WOW action will strengthen your influence, build a more engaged team, and allow you to show up fully in all areas of your life. The most effective leaders aren’t the ones who do it all; they’re the ones who trust themselves to empower others to engage in decisions needed to make aligned actions. Fear and stress are natural responses to change, experiencing these emotions are NOT and I repeat NOT emotional responses that are indicative of your capability to be successful in leading the change itself. As a leader, your role is not to eliminate the emotions you experience personally or to eliminate the emotions expressed by your team. Your role as a leader…… has a greater impact when you focus on creating a space where these emotions can be understood and addressed intentionally. One of the most optimal tools to normalize and navigate a dialogue that incorporates the emotional aspects is through empathy mapping. In this podcast episode, I'm going to walk you through the 4 phases to create an empathy map. There are 3 ways to stay connected with me. | Clarity Fuels Rest: Overcoming the Struggle to Recharge on Your Off Days | 24 Dec 2024 | 00:15:26
The holiday season often amplifies the pressures of work-life balance, especially if you are juggling year-end demands. This time of year, you’re likely finding yourself mentally and emotionally taxed, struggling to disconnect from work despite the promise of rest. As a leader, it’s essential to understand that clarity is your greatest ally. When your mind is clear, rest transforms into a strategic tool that goes beyond surface-level relaxation to fuel your long-term effectiveness. Rest may seem like an unattainable luxury or overlooked as an opportunity to consider within your schedule, and the ability to rest can be a big benefit for you. I read a study by the American Psychological Association that found 62% of leaders reporting they experienced difficulty disconnecting from work, and 8 out of 10 leaders report better mental well-being when they take time to gain clarity before their time off. With us being in the traditional season where you are likely to have vacation or planned PTO days, this is an ideal time to consider these 3 solutions shared in this podcast episode! Want to join me for a change-ready blueprint session in 2025? I want to share an incredible opportunity for you to take your change leadership skills to the next level. | What if change disrupts our productivity or performance? | 10 Dec 2024 | 00:45:26
The fear that adjusting to change could temporarily affect performance, productivity, or the quality of work can lead to decreased output or overall dissatisfaction - it is a REAL concern. But what I have learned is that our initial reaction to a change is not the truth of what is being compromised. For your initial concern about change is a perceived loss of quality and not an actual loss of quality in what change impacts. In this podcast episode, we will focus on 3 areas that will help you understand your concerns around change, the right strategy to mitigate the risks of your concerns and how to implement a phased approach to navigating change to support your capacity and reduce common concerns of impacts to productivity and performance by championing change. The most important approach when championing any change is to meet your current level of readiness before tailoring any approach to support your success.
