Episode 37 is here! We invited Andrew Fidel Fernando the Sri Lanka correspondent for ESPNcricinfo into the studio to discuss all things Sri Lanka. Ahead of the all format series between West Indies and Sri Lanka it was important to get the real lowdown on the chaotic Lankans.  It is rare that West Indies go into a series against higher ranked opposition as 'favourites' but given the state Sri Lanka enter this tour - this represents a genuine chance for the men in maroon. Should Lawrence 'Yagga' Rowe be forgiven?03 May 202401:49:09
Say the name Lawrence 'Yagga' Rowe and West Indians of a certain vintage will regale you with tales of his graceful stroke play and of course the 302 in 1974. In a Caribbean Cricket Podcast history episode we look at the legacy of Lawrence Rowe. Machel chairs a round table discussion including Basil Butcher Jr, author of The Unforgiven Ashley Gray and former CEO of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, Chris Dehring. The Unforgiven: Mercenaries or Missionaries?01 Jun 202001:24:42
Some things are indelible in West Indian cricket history and not all of it positive. Between 1982 and 1984, 20 West Indian cricketers broke the Gleneagles agreement and decided to tour apartheid South Africa. Author and Sports Writer Ashley Gray (@AshG66) took it upon himself to meet with as many of those cricketers as possible to unpick the real story behind each individual. Did they deserve the global condemnation they received that forced many to flee their homelands or into destitution? We dived deep into the history of the rebel tours with Ashley and looked at it from all angles. This episode is about more than just cricket this is a bit of a Caribbean history lesson also. You can buy your copy of Ashley's book on Amazon or Waterstones, but check if you local independent bookstore has it and support them first.  Learn more about your ad choices. At Home with Ramnaresh "Ronnie" Sarwan28 Apr 202001:03:07
When we started the Caribbean Cricket Podcast one of the aims was to be a trusted media platform for West Indies cricketers past and present. It's an honour that as we drop Episode 10 - West Indies and Guyana great Ramnaresh Sarwan was on hand to bless us with his presence.  As 'luck' would have it Ronnie is also in the news as a result of a few choice words from Chris Gayle, an interesting outcome given Ronnie named Gayle as one of his top 3 cricketers hes played the game with. We broke down everything with Ronnie from his early career to his premature end and all that happened in between. He left West Indies cricket at the age of 33 with a Test and ODI average over 40+. We havent seen those kind of stats in WI cricket in a long time.  Tell all your friends, share the link, grab a drink and sit back... Learn more about your ad choices.
