100 Days of Crypto - Jordan Franklin aka The Happy Spender, Founder of Dear Crypto29 Nov 202200:54:49

It gets pretty exhausting trying to be someone that you’re not, so you might as well lean into the person that you are…

Georgie and Pam first met Jordan Franklin at the Australian Crypto Convention in the Gold Coast, and her energy and passion for the web3 space is infectious.

We thoroughly enjoyed our conversation, and we could have sat down and spoken with Jordan all day.

We hope after listening to this you’ll feel inspired, uplifted and more curious about web3 and crypto.

Their vision is for Dear Crypto to become the most inclusive, approachable and empowering educational community in web3. It's early days for Dear Crypto as they build a Minimum Viable Product under the mentorship of Blackbird VC, where they are entrepreneurs in residence under the Giants Cohort 5 program.

How to avoid scams in Web3 - Pamela Kerr, CEO Virtual Horizons & Metaverse Art Curator15 Nov 202200:54:39

Web3 is an opportunity, however, you have to bring what you have to it. People who wake up in the morning and have lost a lot of money (like I have done) the only person responsible for changing that, is you.

After first speaking with Pamela Kerr in one of our Twitter Spaces, we knew that we had to get her on the podcast - and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

We recorded this podcast only days before the FTX saga of last week, but after Pamela lost all of her retirement savings to a scam, this episode couldn’t be coming out at a perfect time.

👋 Introducing Pamela Kerr

Pamela immigrated to Australia 9 years ago after “semi-retiring”, having served as a Lawyer and a Detective in the Northern Ireland Police Force.

Pamela is an entrepreneur with three successful businesses and a demonstrated history of working in the consumer goods industry. She’s skilled in trend analysis, coaching, advertising, sales, and retail.

Pamela is a visionary and dream builder with a passion for the future and human beings.

“Who would have thought being scammed by a fake Gary Vaynerchuk would have fuelled my passion for Web3.”

Pamela is the founder of the Corals NFT project, and she founded Virtual Horizons, managing NFT Artists whilst curating a gallery in the metaverse

🎙 In today’s podcast

💜 How was Pamela scammed by “Gary Vee”

💜 What transpired after Pamela spoke to the real Gary Vee

💜 The Web3 mindset Pamela adopts and the 4 words she repeats to herself in the mirror daily.

“Keep going, you are valuable to this world, and you still have a lot more to give”

🗝 Key questions asked:

⭐️ What advice would you give to people navigating through these market situations?

⭐️ What does DYOR (do your own research) mean to you, and how do you go about it?

⭐️ What do you tell your artists when they are having “imposter syndrome” moments?

This episode was truly amazing, and we can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

👋 Introducing Georgie Hubbard and Pam Caldwell

Georgie grew up in the UK in the city of Oxford with her parents and younger brother. Being surrounded by a family of entrepreneurs, she always knew she would start a business one day. Georgie was grateful to witness from an early age what determination, drive and ambition can achieve.

At 19, Georgie left home and flew to Greece to live and work, running a day spa for a popular UK travel company. A year on, Georgie got offered the opportunity to move to France with the same company and establish their day spa in the French Alps.

However, from a young age, Australia had always appealed to Georgie and at 23, she packed a rucksack and moved to the other side of the world to start the next chapter of her life. Georgie was ready for a career change, so I applied for a recruitment position at a well-established IT recruitment firm. Combining her sales and relationship-building skills, Georgie soon began to build an incredibly successful desk. With dreams of owning her own company still in mind, she decided the time was right to make that dream a reality and in 2018, started CH Solutions with her best friend and colleague, Pam Caldwell. Georgie currently has a team of 8, over 50 clients and have grown the business to over seven figures.

Georgie has witnessed first-hand the gender gap that exists in technology and is incredibly passionate to create systemic change starting with the impact of Sisterhood Club.

For Pam, life began in Glasgow, Scotland, where she started work at age 15, driven by an outstanding work ethic encouraged by her parents. She performed well at school and moved on to University, where she secured her Bachelor's Degree in History and Sociology. Post-uni life she accepted a position with a fantastic company, SThree, and landed her entry into the world of IT recruitment. Pam started as a rookie, moving on through the ranks to become a successful Senior Team Leader of 7 Consultants (the only female TL across nine offices in the UK at the time), where she coached 2 rookies through to become the 'top billers' across the UK business, whilst continuing to be a 'top biller' herself.

Pam moved to Australia in 2014 with a suitcase in hand, thinking she’d only be a year, but she’s never looked back since.

After working as a Recruitment Consultant in Australia, in 2018, Pam started CH Solutions. CH is a female-led tech and digital recruitment firm with a focus on growing trusted partnerships with its clients to deliver exceptional talent and expertise across the full talent management lifecycle. Pam operates with honesty and integrity at every turn and attributes these core values to the success and solid reputation I have established in the market.

Female empowerment, representation and encouraging women to push the boundaries in their own lives and not only find but use their voice, is something Pam has always been passionate about. Pam sees huge potential for women by entry into the world of Web 3.0 and through Sisterhood Club she’s driven to create a brand that represents innovation and contributes to pushing the envelope of what is achievable in this ever-evolving space.

🎙 In today’s podcast

💜 Why you don’t have to be a “coder” to have a position in tech

💜 Why the bear market is the best time to enter Web3

💜 What are transferable skills? And why you don’t need to tick all of the boxes in a job description

💜 The importance of EQ > IQ

💜 Why we DON’T have to take a step back to take a step forward in our career.

We’d love to hear what you thought of today’s podcast. Be sure join our Discord community to let us know what you thought.

Talk to you soon,

Women in Web3 Panel with Katherine Boiciuc STEM Queen, Lisa Teh and Liza Boston - Sisterhood Socials11 Oct 202201:10:03

I struggled early on (in my career) to look up and find women I aspired to be like. When I was (at the law firm) there were 40 partners and only 2 of them were women. Even in business today my role is business development and I find it challenging because many of the decision makers I have to deal with are men.

Last week we hosted our first Sisterhood Social IRL event. WHAT. A. NIGHT. Full of incredible insights, building friends not connections and belly laughs!

Here is what some of our attendees said:

“…such an amazing night, what a panel, what amazing women”

“…It was one of the best panels I’ve been able to attend”

We are excited to be able to share with you the recording from the night’s panel lineup.

There were so many golden nuggets from this podcast - we hope you enjoy listening.

Is self-love the answer to happiness? - Rosie Leach, Self-love and Confidence Coach 16 Aug 202200:48:55

I don't think I've ever met a person who has never experienced the feeling of "not enoughness"

In this week’s episode, Georgie sat down with Rosie Leach, one of our Sisterhood School educators, to discuss self-love and confidence.

Want to be the first to know when a new episode drops? 👉 Subscribe👯‍♀️

👋 Introducing Rosie Leach

Rosie is a Self-Love and Happiness Coach ready to help you become the woman you have always wanted to be.

For 25 years, Rosie suffered silently with anxiety, her self-worth was as low as it could go, and she had a penchant for people-pleasing.

Rosie had ticked all of the metaphorical boxes of life (go to university, get a good job, get married etc.) yet still felt lost.

Although Rosie had the "perfect" life on the surface, she appeared happy to everyone else but inside, she wasn't alive.

She asked herself, “What was I doing wrong?”

After some huge life events, Rosie finally found the courage to seek change and ask herself some serious questions. She began to tick the secret yet most life-changing box of all - self-love.

Self-love has not only saved Rosie’s life but has allowed her to finally live her life as the woman she always wanted to be.

It has allowed her to find out who she is, live by a set of values that feel good to her and remove the limitations she was putting on herself.

🎙 In today’s podcast

💜 Discover why Rosie is passionate about self-love and believes it is the key to happiness

💜 Why “should” is the worst swear word we can say

💜 How to see ourselves as whole human beings, exactly the way we are, without anyone else’s approval.

💜 What decisions can we choose to make if we find ourselves unhappy?

🗝 Key questions asked:

⭐️ Where did Rosie’s self-love journey begin, and what were some of the tools and strategies you used to love yourself?

⭐️ What process did you go through to detach yourself from what society deemed the “perfect life” and start to love yourself for who you were?

⭐️ How can we help our younger generation feel like they are enough in a world where they're told they're not?

⭐️ What are some habits, routines and tools you regularly use to help with your self-love and mindset?

“If you squeeze an orange, you'll only get orange. What's inside is what will come out. It’s the same with self-love and self-worth - if we have a feeling of contentment and peace, that is how we'll show up as a friend and as a parent.”

Wow. What a conversation. Self-love truly is the foundation of our health and happiness. This is why we have included Rosie’s courses as a part of the Sisterhood School, which will be accessible by purchasing a Sisterhood Club NFT. First Edition enrolment is minting (launching) on 23rd September.

We look forward to welcoming you 💜

How Blockchain Will Impact the Future - Kristy Bayley, Operations Leader and Start-Up Advisor12 Jul 202200:35:53

The stigma of money has been fascinating around crypto; if people make too much money, it's talked about, and if people lose money, it's talked about.

But the technology backing it all (the blockchain) will create high-impact - specifically anything that requires records; there is currently too much loss and mess-ups.

💜 How Web3 has created an even playing field for everyone, including males, females and non-binary people, to succeed.

💜 The specific types of companies that attract women in the web3 world (and why it's not financially driven)

💜 Why crypto needs a little more regulation for us to take the next step forward.

6:48 - What are the key differences between businesses that succeed and those that don't?

Is now the best time to jump into Web3? - Bec Smouha, SuperBabes NFT05 Jul 202200:40:12

Want to be the first to know when a new episode drops? 👉 Subscribe👯‍♀️

One of the leading female voices in the space is Bec Smouha, an entrepreneur and founder of SuperBabesNFT club, a crypto-centred community made by women for women, based in Sydney, Australia. After initially having no interest in investing, Bec’s boyfriend introduced her to the world of crypto and unlocked an entirely new world of opportunity. Now, Bec believes it's her duty to help empower and "gently guide" other women into the space.

Coming from a background in journalism and fashion, Bec transitioned into understanding the blockchain after seeing the power it can have on the transparency throughout the clothing supply chain.

Bec understands the benefits of getting into (the web3) space early - "it's an empowering place. Once you get here, you're inspired to be the best version of yourself."

“Web2 is what can I get, web3 is what can I give”

This was a common theme and what drove the idea of SuperBabes NFT Club. "For someone who loves giving, that's what brings me joy and to see people become the best version of themselves."

Bec likes to do things called "getting out of your comfort zone" and believes that's where we can reach our true potential because that's where all of the great things have happened for her.

"Although we are in a bear market, now is the best time to jump in."

We couldn't agree more. We hope you enjoy today's episode.

Here are a few questions and topics we spoke about:

7:50 - What are the main goals of Superbabes and the main ways you're looking to give back?

12:45 - How are you overcoming obstacles to help more women enter Web3?

15:30 - Can you explain the importance of digital ownership and why we can't just screenshot a jpeg?

18:30 - What would you say to any females sitting on the fence regarding web3, investing, and NFTs?

25:05 - Have you got a favourite project you have invested in that you love the utility behind.

29:00 - How do you look after your health with everything you have going on in Web3?

DAO's and Diversity - Dajana Eder, Founder of Wom3n.DAO a female web3 network28 Jun 202200:44:27

"A lack of visibility of women, non-binary, BIPOC or LGBTQIA+ people leads to a reproduction of internalised discrimination. If you aren't visible, you won't be represented. If you aren't represented, you do not exist."

Want to be the first to know when a new episode drops? 👉 Subscribe👯‍♀️

Dajana has transitions from a web2 communication specialist to "I'm willing to learn everything I need to know to create an inclusive web3".

She highly believes in the shift from brand to community, ultimately building to ownership culture and decentralisation of data.

Before Web3, Dajana was in the Motor industry, where she experienced sexism every day, even though she didn’t have a word for it providing her with the fuel and passion to create change today!

Dajana, like all of us, started by not understanding what blockchain means. But the more she learned, the more she realised we could create real equality.

"Don't worry about this bear market because I'm a true believer that women will be the next bull market."

Dajana has seen a huge shift in women starting to connect, “It's not the lure of money but a chance to change something; In Web3 we don't have these elbow techniques.”

Like most early females into Web3, Dajana wasn’t a pleasant one.

“I had these experiences in Discord where men told me that I'm in the wrong place and that I should go back to playing Barbies and cooking in the kitchen. No one would help answer my “stupid questions.”

However, our conversation with Dajana was an enjoyable one. We spoke about:

💜 What is a DOA

💜 How Dajana is bringing more Women into Web3 through her educational content

💜 The issues in diversity - not just in Web3.

💜 How blockchain can change the future.

💜 What does “ownership culture” mean?

Plus a whole lot more.

We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did.

The Best Career To Secure Your Financial Future - Amy Efstathis, Code Like a Girl14 Jun 202200:36:24

“Currently, there are nearly 500,000 women over the age of 45 in Australia facing homeless. If you’re a single mother who rents, there is a 65% chance you will become homeless in your lifetime”

Want to be the first to know when a new episode drops? 👇

Hey SHC Community,

Welcome to this week’s episode with Amy Efstathis on the Sisterhood Club Podcast. Amy is the Partnerships and Fundraising Manager for Code Like a Girl.

Code Like a Girl is a collective of women who found each other through a love of code. And the more women in tech they meet, the more women in tech they think there should be. But with only 16%* of technologists being women, they've come up short. That's why Code Like a Girl's social enterprise is on a mission to introduce women of all ages and backgrounds to code, confident that they'll love it as much as we do.

Amy is a passionate advocate for women and women's equity. Helping women to be the best people they can be and to have a say in their own lives.

She's been working for cause-related organisations for 15 years and when Code Like a Girl advertised the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager roleshe jumped at it, knowing she was getting to work with "inspirational women every day."

Amy’s passion is driven by the following:

* Staggering statistics around women getting left behind (across all areas)

* The fact that half a million women in Australia over the age of 45 are facing homelessness.

“If you're a single mother who rents and works part-time, there is a 65% chance that you will become homeless in your lifetime.”

In the podcast, Amy explains that this is due to a myriad of reasons, including;

* Women making certain career choices

* Unaffordable housing

* Superannuation

* Putting care of others before themselves

“Women have systemically been excluded from careers like technology, but this is where people's incomes are growing substantially and significantly.

"In technology, we need to fill 60,000 roles per year for the next few years. With only 7,000 people coming out of University each year, there is a massive gap in the market. Technology is a future-proof career to help women solidify their future economic state and ensure lifelong financial stability. However, we don't go into it because we're told: it's for boys, and it's entirely not".

The Technology industry is growing so fast that we have a talent drought; organisations are becoming more intelligent, more flexible and welcoming to women and diverse individuals because they realise it needs a more diverse talent pool.

The reason girls don't often move into technology is that caring is a traditionally feminine trait. “After all, little girls want to be someone - they fall into care careers because their first role model is usually their mothers or carers.” Little girls embody the people they see around them in their play because it's usually their mother, grandmother and Aunties.

Recent advice from more prominent technology companies like AWS, ANZ, 99 Designs, and EY has said that "skills aren't as important as an attitude - but having the attitude of a lifelong learner is."

We finish the podcast by discussing the money that having a career in technology can provide.

"We get to live a life by our design if money isn't an issue - money gives us power and control over our own lives."

Our conversation on today's podcast was full of great topics and questions, including:

💜 What are the main barriers of entry to technology for women to enter technology jobs?

💜 What can mothers do if they have young girls to get them curious about coding?

💜 Why women don't need to be a "coder" to have a job in technology.

💜 What can businesses be doing to attract more females into technology?

💜 Advice for women looking for a new challenge or a career move into technology.

We hope you enjoy today’s episode as much as we did.

Georgie and Pam x

"Men own 90% of NFTs, and 81% of crypto is owned by men meaning all the investment coming into web3 feeds their interests. We need women to come in so that capital can go towards building things that women care about, NFTs for fashion, travel, beauty, family and health."

We had absolute fun speaking with Michelle in today's episode, and we know you will get many takeaways from it.

Lacey Filipich helps people become financially independent and reclaim their lives.

Thousands worldwide have used my Money School courses to liberate themselves from debt, start saving and investing, and raise financially capable kids. We are incredibly excited to announce that Money School courses will be included in the Sisterhood School.

Money School is also the title of Lacey's non-fiction book, out with Penguin Life.

Lacey is also the winner of a 2019 Business News '40 under 40' Award.

Having financial independence makes Lacey "time rich" so that she now chooses how she spends her time. We are grateful to be speaking with her today.

Here is a part of what we discussed and asked Lacey today:

  • How both of Lacey's parents were role models when it came to her finances
  • How can people be aware of the marketing and ensure we make the right decisions to move us forward and not get stuck or even fall into debt?
  • How can financial stress play a crucial role in our IQ resulting in worse career and relationship choices?

"When we feel poor, we make bad decisions, and often those decisions keep us poor."

  • What is a "mini-retirement" and what it can mean for young people."
  • How do people begin the plan of starting a mini-retirement?
  • What is your hope for the women going through Money School as a part of the Sisterhood Club?
  • What are the three rules of Money School, and how are all the rules included within the Sisterhood School?

Why Women Need to Enter the World of Web3, Now - Liza Boston, Web3 Venture Investor10 May 202200:48:18
"(Technology has) been such a bro club the last 15 years, and even more so now, so it's refreshing to see young women like yourself coming into this space. The cost of not doing so is greater than that of doing so. Let's talk about how exciting it is for women right now (to get into the Web3, Metaverse and NFT space)"

Today it was an absolute privilege to sit down with Liza Boston, a Web 3.0 Venture Investor, Metaverse Entrepreneur, NFT Artist and Poet.

We discussed the importance of why we need to encourage more women to enter the world of web3 and how she feels just as passionate and energised as she did at the beginning of Web 2.0

Here is a snapshot of what we spoke about in today's episode:

  • How can we encourage more young women into the world of technology.
  • Why do women only see 2% of VC money?
  • What did Liza learn from rubbing shoulders with many of the tech leaders of Web2? Including Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
  • How does Liza explain the Metaverse, Web3 and NFTs to newbies?
  • Why do all businesses need to be thinking about a Web 3.0 strategy?
  • How we have to work together and co-create this new world of web 3.0

Liza is an early stage, women-led VC Angel investor passionate about Web 3.0, NFT, DAO, Crypto, VR, XR, AI and gaming projects.

Liza is also an artist, poet, film-maker, storyteller, and passionate advocate for the creator economy. There has been no greater time in the history of the world to make more Art: art-making is a subversive political process; it is urgent and high on Liza’s global agenda.

Liza has designed, founded, led and scaled high-tech, hi-growth companies and creative projects in Australia, the UK, the USA and the North Pole, where she also swam with a Walrus.

Liza is an innovation junkie and has her own suite of global technology patents, original songs and live performances.

Liza toured the world as the founder, CEO and Chairman of a revolutionary live music platform (Soundhalo), launched in London with a suite of top50 bands and broadcast live to 196 countries in real-time, from patent beta concept and spearheading a disruptive global operation to the delight of shareholders, fans, top 50 artists, labels, telco giants and consumer brand partners.

From growing up in a war zone to growing a multi-million dollar business - Rania Awad, CEO Digital Smoothie03 May 202200:40:31
Rania Awad is a mother, wife, founder, and successful entrepreneur.

Rania spent her first 11 years in a war zone in Lebanon in survival mode.

When the moment to leave arrived, she flew to Sydney. Landing in Australia, she couldn't believe it.

The first thought in her mind was, "gosh, tonight I'm just going to sleep, and I'm not going to be woken up by the sounds of bullets or bombs."

The early years were formative for Rania, and she developed an attitude of "what is the worst that could happen?"

Taking risks and dreaming big was something that didn't scare her.

At the age of 24, she started a Pharmacy and grew it into a well-respected multi-million dollar business.

She created one of the first-ever online pharmacies heading down the exciting e-commerce, technology, and digital path.

That business was acquired by Pharmacy-4-less, which she helped to take into the UK, US and China Markets, growing the company from zero to 16 million in 3 years.

Rania is now the CEO and founder of Digital Smoothie, a group of passionate creators and problem solvers in marketing, design, process optimisation, plus much more.

There are many great takeaways from today's conversation, and we know you will love it!
