Olivia is a member of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Ambassador team. At a young age Olivia invented the Jelly Cleaner - a devise made of household materials that can help remove microplastics from the ocean. Olivia is also passionate about freeing dolphins from captivity and she started the #noespaisparadelfines campaign which has over 160,000 signatures. Olivia is also the author of the book Sí Es Cosa Tuya (Yes It's Up to You) - a book which encourages young people to get involved and make the world a better place.

Since July, Captain Paul Watson has been in prison in Nuuk, Greenland. Arrested by Denmark at the request of Japan, Paul's fate resides in the hands of the Danish Minister of Justice, Peter Hummelgaard. Japan is using all of its political might to coerce Denmark into extraditing Paul, where the Japanese intend to lock Paul up for the rest of his life.
We all need to raise our voices in order to put pressure on Peter Hummelgaard to FREE PAUL WATSON!

Unfortunately at the last hearing on August 15th, the judge in Greenland chose to keep Paul in detention longer while the Danish Minister of Justice considers Japan's extradition request. Locky makes the point that while Paul sits in a prison in Nuuk, Greenland, the Japanese whalers are out in the Pacific ocean killing fin whales and searching for new waters to kill more. We need to get Paul freed so that he and his crew can stop Japan from killing more whales.

On July 21 2024, Captain Paul Watson was arrested by Danish police upon arrival in Nuuk, Greenland, onboard the M/Y John Paul DeJoria. Danish authorities claim that the arrest was made due to an international arrest warrant issued by Japan, related to his anti-whaling campaigns in the Antarctic more than a decade ago.
Paul faces the possibility of extradition to Japan, where he would serve a life sentence.

In this episode of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation (CPWF), we will be speaking with Captain Locky MacLean who is currently on our new ship the Bandero. The Bandero is in Hobart, Tasmania preparing for its first mission. Locky describes the aspects of the Bandero that make it the perfect vessel for the kind of work that CPWF does out at sea. The Bandero was built by the Japanese government to patrol the southern district of Japan's maritime boundary. Captain MacLean gives us insight into the Japanese whaling industry and tells us what their current actions may suggest about their future whaling plans. We also get a chance to talk about volunteering as a crew member aboard the CPWF fleet.
