The offshore fleets got blown out yesterday but they had been having some good luck up until the blow and wind shift. I'll talk about what was being cough plus what was biting nearshore and in the back country in this report. When Justin asks Capt. Marty to tell a story about a legendary Captain/Mate combo, Capt. Marty doesn't hesitate to talk about Capt. Lee Perry and his mate Ralph Wayne Johnson aka 'Snooki' on their boat the 'Deepwater'. One day after a great trip offshore, Capt. Lee and Snooki race in to Oregon Inlet to try and be the first to the fuel dock. Having the slowest boat in the fleet, they really had to hurry! Well, they went a little too fast. Still kind of a mixed bag of fish all over, with some improvements to note! I'll talk about that and how this is going to be your last best day to fish for a while! Mother nature isn't being too kind to us right now!

There's good news and not so good news: The good news is we are back fishing on all fronts with a mixed bag of catches... The not so good news is it doesn't look like its gonna last long with the weather kicking back up at the end of this week. I'll get you up to speed with all of this in this report. 

Offshore over the weekend was mediocre at best... but the back country was where you wanted to be!  I'll get you up to speed with what all went down over the weekend in this report.

Kind of the same song and dance today in the report, however things are looking brighter for the weekend! I'll talk about what has been caught and what could potentially be caught over the weekend in this report.

As you probably expected there isn't much to talk about on the fishing front, however I do want to remind you of where I will be today! As you've probably already guessed the wind definitely didn't help things on the fishing front, however I do still have a few things to report on so listen up!

We're all keeping our eyes on the southeast and watching those storms head on off into the Atlantic (thank the Lord). It's made for some rough seas so our offshore fleet didn't quite make it out yesterday but our back country fishing made up for it! I'll talk about that and remind you of where I will be doing my LIVE show from on Thursday!

Pretty decent weekend of fishing, although some folks had to work a tad hard than others. Still a solid weekend all the way around. Gonna talk about that and where I will be doing my fishing show from this coming Thursday in this report.

Fishing picked up a little bit over the last few days on the offshore and surf side of things, not so much in the back country. I'll get you up to speed with that and give you a few tips on how to go about getting FRESH local tuna from our seafood markets. 

From a week ago where there was no fishing happening offshore to RECORD BREAKING fishing offshore happening right now! Literally, record breaking! Listen to this report and I'll give you the run down!!

There was fishing done on all the Outer Banks fronts yesterday, but in some cases folks had to work for what they caught. I'll explain it all in this report.

It was a tad on the breezy side for the offshore fleet but there was still fishing taking place in other areas that yielded pretty solid results in a mixed bag of catches! Listen and I'll get you up to speed!

It would be nice if the wind would STOP for just a little bit, or even slow down some so the fleets could get out. Kind of the same song and dance with the drum bite but I do want to talk a little about what we could expect when the boats do get a chance to go back out.

The Red Drum bite is still the hot topic, but there are some other things to be discussed despite the wind and the rain we've had.

Not much to report on offshore or even near shore but the piers, surf and back country are where you want to be. Why? I'll explain more in this report!

Mother Nature really teased us last weekend!! Seems as if everything has come to a screeching halt with the recent front that came through, but I'm gonna tell you about what you could start to expect in the coming weeks. I have a feeling that things are going to burst wide open soon!

This Nor'easter has kept a lot of our fleets tied up at the docks, but the piers and the beach have been rather exciting!  Gonna talk to you about that plus what has been cooking in the back country.

Things picked up yesterday!! The white marlin slowed a bit offshore but there was a good harvest of meat fish on all fronts. The backcountry is still "all the rage". I'll talk more about it plus give you a bit a fall forecast in this report.

Fishing over the Labor Day weekend was hit and miss with the breezy conditions we had. I'll tell you where it was hit and where it was miss in this report and also talk a little about the Gibbs-Shoal Tournament in Hyde County!

The year was 1990. Bull Tolson, captain of the Sea Toy and his mate Mike Day were fishing the very last day of the Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament. Late on that last day they hooked up to a monster of a blue marlin. Knowing that it was still anyone's tournament to win, they fought that fish hard got it in the boat as fast as they could. They were still a ways offshore and it was a race against the clock to get back to Pirate's Cove Marina to potentially win the tournament. Did they make it in time? Listen to Captain Marty tell the story. 

Two words: WHITE. MARLIN!! Yes, the white marlin bite is on!! I'm going to talk more about that, give you a weekend outlook and talk about the upcoming Gibbs-Shoal fishing tournament in Hyde County taking place this weekend all to benefit the Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department!

Fishing was great just about everywhere yesterday! I'll talk to you about where and what was biting and WHO was catching them in this report.

I know what you're thinking... you're thinking "Hey Capt. Marty, how slow is it still"? Well, guess what...? FISHING ACTUALLY PICKED UP SOME OVER THE WEEKEND ON ALL FRONTS!!! Now, the question is how long will it stay up? That's a good question!! Let's take it for now and I'll cover what's took place over the weekend in this report.

Not a whole lot has changed in the last 24hrs except for the fact that the pier fishing on the north beaches had some different classes of drum running. I'll tell you more about that in this report along with more details about the Gibbs-Shoal Fishing Tournament taking place in Hyde County this weekend. 

Seems as if the best two spots to fish yesterday were offshore and in the sound. I'll talk about those two spots along with the inshore and piers in this report plus the upcoming Gibbs-Shoal tournament taking place in Hyde County this coming weekend. I'll tell you how to go about entering it too!

In light of Hurricane Erin coming by the coast a few days ago, Capt. Marty tells a story from one summer day back in 1991 when he was the captain of the Reelin'. He and Capt. Mike Clarkin who was then the captain of the Fishing Frenzy got off to a late start with their charters out of Oregon Inlet. While out fishing, they were made aware of a pretty intense line of thunderstorms heading their way. Listen to what happened next!

This is more of a lack-there-of fishing report. I'll do a quick recap of what has been caught but I also want to make you aware of what the fishing scene could be like coming out of a hurricane so listen up!

As you may have guessed there wasn't a whole lot of fishing being done yesterday. There was some, but not a lot. More of it in the back country and in the surf than anywhere else. I'll talk more about that and what we can expect fishing-wise on the other side of this storm. 

Believe it or not there was a pretty good day of fishing yesterday, considering the swell is starting to roll in from Erin. I'll tell you what was caught on all fronts in this report and gonna talk a little about what could happen with Erin coming by our coast.

Kinda of a scrappy weekend offshore but thankfully that wasn't the case for the end of the Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament! I'll get you up to speed with all of that plus a look at our soundside/back country report which seems to still be great!! Hurricane Erin is looming in the Atlantic and that's likely going to put a damper on most of our fishing this week but I'm still gonna be here to let you know what I know! 

A quick update of the leaderboard as we await the Deep Color with their big blue marlin. What a fun day this last day of the tournament has been!
