I think we have a new first on the pod. We've had a few Cabin Culture guests on that have experienced Janice's Cozy Rock Cabin in person, but I don't think either of us have had the opportunity to visit any of the guests cabins, until now. Janice spent the weekend on an excursion to nearby Asheville North Carolina for a new tattoo and was able to enjoy the weekend at Little Mountain Aframe, hosted by Shealy who joins us on the episode today. Her new built A-frame is located in Old Forte, just down the road from Asheville and has been available to book for only about a month however, the design and build process has taken up the last few years for her and her husband Eddie. Janice and Shealy touch on all the unique design considerations made from lighting to paint, what sparked the initial idea to build their own escape, and the business approach that supports their dream cabin. Set on a secluded 32 acre lot she envisioned a place where her kids, grand kids, family and friends could spend time and create memories with plenty of space to reset and explore. Along with the Carpenter Cabin, the Jenkin's have added two other stays each, with a different feel and features to suite a perfect get away. Jami shares the struggle of letting go for that very first guest after putting all the time, energy and love into your special place, but also the fullfillment that comes with creating a stay that makes endless memories for others. Janice dives into the buy and renovation process with them from a 6 month closing to finding dead critters in the walls. It was a grind from the very start for them but that can make the final result all the more special. The final product is a space inspired by intentional minimalism that allows their family to disconnect, appreciate and learn from all that nature has to offer.
