Becoming the Breadwinner: Jennie Lakenan, website design agency owner02 Sep 202600:58:58
What if the life you want requires letting go of everything you thought your family roles had to look like?

In this episode of By Their Fruits, Kaelynn interviews Jennie, a psychology major turned WordPress agency owner, about becoming her family’s primary breadwinner while her husband stays home to homeschool and run the household. Jennie shares how a desire for work from home freedom led her from life coach dreams to building websites after noticing coaches had weak online presence, pushing through discouragement, and signing early clients through outreach and community connections. Within months her husband quit his job in spring 2019, and Jennie’s agency earned about $130,000 that first year. They discuss marketing getting harder amid economic shifts and AI, the growing need for authenticity, building systems with contractors, knowing when to hire for a website, staying spirit-led, managing burnout and parenting, and trusting God to reveal next steps line upon line like Nephi building the boat.

Diet Coke, Relief Society & Unity: Brook Candland, realtor26 Aug 202601:00:30
What happens when one small act of welcome in Relief Society goes viral and opens a bigger conversation about loneliness, unity, and faith?

Kaelynn interviews Brook Candland, an Arizona native and realtor, about how she entered real estate through prayer, promptings, and a series of tender mercies, starting in new construction and later joining a friend after a fast and a clear sign through her first resale deal. Brook shares how she co creates her work life with God, navigates insecurity and uncertainty, and has shifted her Instagram away from strictly real estate content after her Relief Society Diet Coke and treats reel took off. They talk about Brook’s testimony of Relief Society as the largest women’s organization in the world, why many women feel disconnected post COVID, and practical logistics for creating a warmer, more welcoming Sunday experience that helps women feel seen, loved, and strengthened in Jesus Christ.

Making Money From LDS Content (Without Feeling Icky): Tess Frame18 Aug 202600:53:23
Is it okay to monetize content when your audience is primarily LDS and your message is rooted in the gospel?

Kaelynn sits down with Tess, an Instagram creator and author, to talk through the ethics of making money in the faith space, using 2 Nephi 26 as a framework and clarifying the difference between priestcraft and being paid for your own intellectual property, products, and services. They share how to decide what should always be free, why paywalls can protect sensitive stories, and how recognition and public visibility are not automatically wrong when motives stay centered on serving Zion. Tess and Kaelynn also explore practical monetization paths like brand deals, workshops, digital guides, and books, plus how to discern inspiration in business through scripture, journaling, logic, and Tess’s “meat grinder” test.

Have you ever wished your scripture study could help you figure out what to post, and actually make you more money?

In this episode of By Their Fruits, Kaelynn shares what her real scripture study looks like, often opening to a random page, listening to conference talks when needed, and letting it be flexible instead of perfect. She talks about how her brain tends to overcomplicate business and why repetition is often the simplest path to revenue, then introduces her 30 day Book of Mormon Marketing Challenge kicking off Tuesday, August 25th. The challenge is hosted in a private Instagram feed and includes a daily Book of Mormon reading, a marketing principle, a storytelling prompt, and three hooks to help you post consistently, connect your spiritual life to your business, and sell confidently without apology.

Faith, Florals, and Wallpaper: Mindy Young, founder of Indy Bloom Design04 Aug 202600:53:10
How do you build a thriving business without losing your soul in the process?

Kaelynn interviews Mindy, a northern Utah mom of four who started her entrepreneurial journey by teaching herself photography to support her young family during the recession, then stepped away after realizing her work was pulling her from her children. After praying for guidance, she sold her equipment and unexpectedly moved into digital products, teaching herself web design and earning over six figures as her templates sold while she slept. Mindy later began designing fabric and eventually hand painted floral wallpaper for children’s rooms, with a goal of helping families feel heaven in their homes. She shares how success and a six figure week left her spiritually hollow, how a platform change crashed her business, and how returning to scripture study, church service, and prioritizing God helped her rebuild, serve customers deeply, and pursue a multi million dollar vision.

In this episode of By Their Fruits, Kaelynn sits down with Joey from The Profitability Project, whose all-women team just grew to 10, to talk about hiring, faith, and what she has learned from looking at hundreds of business finances. Joey shares why big brands and big revenue do not always mean healthy profits, how comparison is usually a myth, and why she believes debt can be a healthy tool when managed wisely. They also unpack church culture and Dave Ramsey style money shame, why making money can be a righteous desire, and the scripture that anchors Joey’s decision making and peace in entrepreneurship.

What do you do when your main source of marketing and income disappears a week before Christmas?

In this episode, Kaelynn interviews LDS artist Kenna Barber about building a faith centered art business, from posting early watercolor work on Instagram to opening an Etsy shop in 2021 that stayed quiet for months until she began listing Christ focused pieces that gained traction. Kenna shares investing in an Etsy course, getting fired from her part time job, dropping out of a marketing degree to go all in on art, then getting locked out of her Instagram account in late 2022 and rebuilding from zero as posts and reels helped people find her again. They discuss feeling called to create Christian artwork, comparison and muting accounts, her creative process and inspiration through music, balancing business with new motherhood, concerns about AI art, and learning resilience through repeated hard pivots.

Holy Plot Twist: Kaelynn's 2026 Pivot Story25 Jun 202600:25:28

Welcome to the first episode of By Their Fruits.

A few months ago, I made a decision I never thought I'd make.

I retired the business model I'd spent years building.

After selling Poppyseed Play, creating online courses, and running my copywriting mentorship, The Greenhouse, I thought I knew what the next chapter of my career would look like. Then last fall, something shifted. The strategies that had worked for years suddenly stopped working the same way, and I found myself questioning everything.

In this episode, I share what happened, why I walked away from a business that was still working on paper, and how that decision led me to create a podcast for LDS business owners.

I share what this season taught me, why I believe God often works through unexpected pivots, and why some of our biggest blessings begin as what I call a holy plot twist.
