Career intelligence for pilots. Boardroom decisions land on your flight deck. We translate them first. The aviation industry talks endlessly about pay, type ratings, and seniority. We talk about what actually matters: can you earn a decent living, fly a well-maintained aircraft, and still be home enough to watch your kids grow up? Bryan Air delivers straight-talking analysis on the business of aviation, career intelligence, and the technology reshaping how pilots are trained, assessed, and employed. We break down executive moves, economic forces, and the digital tools quietly rewriting the rules. We go where most aviation media will not. The next generation of aviators needs more than a type rating. They need career strategy, business literacy, and the ability to adapt in an industry where the technology is evolving faster than the regulations that govern it. Bryan Air is a career intelligence ecosystem for pilots. The podcast, the newsletter, the AI-powered tools — everything we build exists to give pilots the intelligence the industry is not giving them. Hosted by Bryan Roseveare and Ryan Parrock. South African honesty. No corporate spin. No fluff. 260+ episodes | Listeners in 40+ countries | #1 Management Podcast in South Africa

SPECIAL MENTIONS📲
Jono Collins - ✈️ Today was a very special day. After successfully completing my line check, I've been released for normal line operations as a Boeing 737 Captain. This accomplishment means the world to me, especially considering the unexpected curveball life threw my way when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

🌞 I am immensely proud and humbled to have been awarded this privilege and responsibility. This journey wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of my incredible family and my soon-to-be wife. Their love and encouragement have been my fuel, propelling me through every challenge and setback.

👨🏻‍✈️ I'm grateful for every moment and every obstacle that led me here. Dreams do come true if you're willing to navigate through life's twists and turns.

Go Travel Your Way - Josh Cahill "Brutally Honest Airline Reviews"

LISTENER COMMENTS📲

@carokoll

Great show, and spot on with the advisory as always! Quit the negative talk if you are in the left seat (or any aircraft seat!). Inexperience may be a reality, but instead of berating the right seat (who may be too intimidated to ask "stupid" questions), draw that person inwards, share your knowledge and tips. That person will not remember your hours or number of stripes, but rather how you made them feel, and that pearler of a tip that you gave them. The reality out there, is that there are differences in the quality of training, not every young pilot working 3 jobs can afford the "top" schools. Wherever you are in your career, choose how you expend your energy, whenever you feel like the negative speak coming out, rather replace it with a useful piece of knowledge or advice that makes someone else grow. Always find what someone else can teach you, because there are always things that you yourself do not know.

@macfly10

Cathay. Not what it once was and with the communist influence nor shall it be again. Many parallels with the SAA scenario.

BRYAN AIR ADVISORY 🤖

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."

 He continued, "The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one that you feed."

BRYAN AIR ADVISORY 🤖

The five why's - The "5 Why's" refer to the practice of asking, five times, why the situation has occurred in order to get to the root cause(s) of the problem. It illustrates the importance of digging down beneath the most obvious cause of the problem.

I asked Ryan why we do the podcast - the answers we both got are personal and slightly different but interestingly enough when we asked the same question about why we are doing this job as opposed to our old job of being an airline pilot we got to the same answer to the question of why do we do the podcast.

I heard this on Chris Williamson's Modern Wisdom podcast this past week

Problem: One of the monuments in Washington D.C. is deteriorating.

Why #1 – Why is the monument deteriorating?

    • Because harsh chemicals are frequently used to clean the monument.

Why #2 – Why are harsh chemicals needed?

    • To clean off the large number of bird droppings on the monument.

Why #3 – Why are there a large number of bird droppings on the monument?

    • Because the large population of spiders in and around the monument are a food source to the local birds

Why #4 – Why is there a large population of spiders in and around the monument?

    • Because vast swarms of insects, on which the spiders feed, are drawn to the monument at dusk.

Why #5 – Why are swarms of insects drawn to the monument at dusk?

    • Because the lighting of the monument in the evening attracts the local insects.

Solution:  Change how the monument is illuminated in the evening to prevent attraction of swarming insects.
