Could one speeding myth cost you your driving licence? UK motoring lawyer Jeremy Sirrell joins BrownCarGuy to explain the rules drivers often misunderstand, from speed cameras and the famous “10% plus 2 mph” belief to Section 172 notices, paperwork errors and avoiding a driving ban.

Jeremy began his legal career advising magistrates, became a Crown Prosecutor and later moved into private practice as a solicitor. Today, around half of his work concerns road traffic law, with the remainder focused on serious criminal cases. That makes him exceptionally well placed to separate motoring law from motoring folklore.

What do a DeLorean nearly falling into a trench, an Aston Martin suspension destroyed by a UK pothole, and modern cars quietly turning against their owners all have in common?

Nothing! But they're all in the latest crazy BCG Therapy podcast!

In this episode of BCG Therapy Podcast, I’m joined by Sy from Drivers Union and Imthishan Giado from Dubai, for a wide-ranging, brutally honest conversation about the state of modern motoring, car culture, and why driving no longer feels like freedom for so many people.

We start with one of the most surreal motoring moments imaginable. A DeLorean being driven into a luxury hotel in Dubai for a diplomatic event featuring US Marines, Star Wars Stormtroopers and Star Trek cut-out figures. The DeLorean, balanced on planks over a trench, with seconds to spare before it nearly disappeared backwards into a hole, when the planks snapped! 

Then we jump back to Britain, where a perfectly normal drive ended with a pothole snapping the suspension on an Aston Martin. Yes, we talk about why UK roads are falling apart, why potholes are becoming a hidden tax on motorists, and how infrastructure neglect is quietly making driving more expensive, stressful, and unrewarding. 

We look at how new cars have become heavier, more complex, and more fragile, while also being more expensive than ever to buy and repair - you won't believe how much Britain's best-selling car sells for!

We also explore the darker side of modern car technology. Connected cars, remote shut-off systems, software control, sanctions that can brick vehicles, and the growing concern that cars are no longer machines we own, but devices we’re allowed to use. This is where the idea that new cars could eventually turn on their owners stops sounding dramatic and starts sounding realistic.

Along the way, we dive into:

• Why younger people are opting out of driving altogether

• How EVs and Chinese cars are reshaping the market through tech, not emotion

• Why modern SUVs and EVs are becoming dangerously heavy
