Drawing from Revelation 22:12–21, Selby reminded us that time is short and that Jesus is coming back soon. He encouraged us to live with an eternal perspective, finding our true joy not in earthly things but in knowing that our names are written in the Book of Life. Reflecting on the early church in Acts 20:24 and Acts 5:41, we were challenged by their boldness and joy, as nothing could stop them from speaking about Jesus, even in the face of opposition.

He went on to emphasize that true freedom requires death. This led to a personal challenge: to examine where we stand with what the Lord has entrusted to us.

Selby brought a strong encouragement as he shared on the ministry of the Spirit, reminding us of the contrast between the flesh and the Spirit (Galatians 5:13). He warned that while the works of the flesh are evident, those who live habitually according to the flesh will not inherit the Kingdom of God. True freedom is not found in legalism or in using grace as a license, but in liberty, a life led by the Spirit, where the Word is written on our hearts and Christ is formed within us.

He went on to remind us that those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Drawing from Galatians 2:20 and Ephesians 4:20–24, we were encouraged to daily put off the old man and put on the new, allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us. As we deny ourselves, starve the flesh, and take up our cross, the life of Christ is revealed in us. The call was simple yet challenging: to walk by faith, repent where needed, and allow the Spirit to lead us into true freedom.

Selby brought a clear encouragement for us to grow in discernment, reminding us that we do not have time to live carelessly. Drawing from Luke, he challenged us with the question of why we can discern the weather, yet struggle to discern the times we are living in (Luke 12:56). There is a call for every believer to seek and understand the will of God.

He reminded us that discernment is the mind of Christ at work in us, shaping our priorities and decisions. We were encouraged to return to the basics of our faith, by devoting yourself to the apostles teachings, continuing in fellowship, breaking bread and prayer. From Ecclesiastes 3:1–15, we were reminded that there is a time for everything, and that the Lord makes everything beautiful in His time. The call was clear: to discern the season we are in and to embrace the changes the Lord is working in us.

Eugene Nyathi came with a strong caution for the church to beware of a spiritual siege, where we are surrounded by things that wont bring growth and we become spiritually hungry and die. Religion may offer a lifestyle that costs little, but the call of Christ requires our lives.

He reminded us that we serve the Lord out of love because He first loved us. When we neglect feeding our spirit, we become weak and vulnerable but the Lord invites us to seek Him daily and receive fresh nourishment from His presence.

Selby encouraged us not to think it strange when we go through difficulties. Every circumstance, whether joyful or challenging, is allowed by the Lord to shape, refine, and transform us. Trials and tests are not accidents; they are part of God’s work in forming Christ within us (Acts 9:15–16; Philippians 1:29). Knowing that our hope is in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Richard then shared on the reality of our heavenly reward that awaits us. He reminded us that the Lord is serious about how we conduct ourselves in this life, and that our daily choices matter.. We were also encouraged that this is possible if we keep in step with the Spirit and allow Him to lead us.

Selby ministers from Matthew 14:22–33, reminding us of the moment the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water.

Even in his sinking, Peter cried out to Jesus and the Lord was faithful to reach out and lift him up. We were encouraged not to fear the challenges of life whether health, struggles, or uncertainty — but to keep walking by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Witness posed a searching question: “Which well are you drinking from?” Drawing from 2 Timothy 3, he reminded us that the Gospel helps us discern truth from confusion. When we draw from too many wells, especially ones we do not know or understand how they were formed, it can lead to uncertainty, spiritual sickness and instability.

Witness concluded by encouraging us that we have everything we need to grow in the Gospel we are under. The lives of the men God has placed among us are open and visible, serving as protection, guidance, and examples for how to serve the Lord well

Selby brought a simple encouragement centred around surrender to the will of God. Reflecting on the prayer of Jesus in the garden, “Not My will, but Yours be done”. He reminded us that our own will often stands in the way of what the Lord desires to accomplish in us (Mark 14:36). Only we can prevent ourselves from receiving what Jesus has for our lives.

Selby shared a timely exhortation on true discipleship. From Luke 21:34, he reminded us that the cares of this life are always pressing in, and if we are not watchful, they can quietly consume our hearts. In a time when the love of many is growing cold, we were encouraged to honestly examine our spiritual condition and allow the Lord to draw us back where needed.

The central scripture of the morning came from Luke 12:34, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Selby emphasised that God continually works in us to uproot anything that competes for our devotion (Jeremiah 1:10). The call was not simply to adjust our outward priorities, but to let the Lord deal with the deeper issues of the heart because discipleship flows from what we truly treasure.

He also pointed us to the parable of the sower in Luke 8, highlighting the things that choke the life of God like worries, riches, and pleasures. We were encouraged to let go of whatever hinders spiritual growth, trusting that we are safe in the hands of Jesus. When we take up our cross daily, we learn to follow Him in true freedom and simplicity of heart.

On Sunday, Selby brought a timely encouragement for us to set our hearts on the things of the Kingdom. He reminded us of Jesus’ call to seek first His Kingdom, urging us to trust God rather than being consumed by the worries of tomorrow. Our confidence must rest in His care, not in our own ability.

Selby showed from Scripture that our homes, families, finances, and possessions are blessings entrusted to us for the sake of the Gospel (Mark 10:29–30). These gifts carry purpose, and we were challenged to invest our lives into what holds eternal value.

He reassured us that this is not a call to poverty, but a call to right priorities, to desire the life of Christ above all else.

Selby also encouraged us with Romans 14:17, reminding us that the Kingdom of God is not about eating and drinking but about righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

We ended our meeting with a precious time in the presence of the Lord as brothers and sisters strengthened one another in prayer.

May the Lord continue to align our hearts with His purposes and help us live each day with our eyes on His Kingdom.
