Are you tired of yelling at your kids but don't know how to stop?

Do you feel like a bad mom and like you’re failing most days, but you don’t know how to feel better about momhood?

Do you long to have peace and actually enjoy your kids?

If you've ever felt this way, you are not alone.

And you are most definitely not a bad mom.

This podcast will help you understand why mom rage shows up so quickly and how to calm those intense emotional reactions so you can stop yelling and build a deeper connection with your kids.  And why neuroscience is the key.

Inside each episode, you’ll learn:

  • Simple tools to help you understand your emotions and begin moving toward calm
    • Brain-based strategies to interrupt the mom rage cycle before anger takes over
    • Ways to understand your triggers and respond with more patience
    • Faith-filled encouragement to help you parent with peace instead of guilt

Hi, I’m Hilda.  Wife, Mom of 3 teens, 2 humans, 1 pup,  Occupational Therapist, and follower of Jesus.

When I was in the thick of those early parenting years, I experienced such intense emotional reactions that I would yell and say such harsh things to our kids and immediately regret it afterward.

I was barely keeping my head above water, and I was so stressed, angry, and exhausted on the daily.

I was completely lost, and I had no idea what to do to make it better.

(And maybe you’ve felt that way, too)

It pains me to think about how much time and energy I spent trying to figure out how to fix my kids’ behaviors.

God showed me that the real issue was not about my kids.

It was about what was happening inside of ME.

Because all the uncontrollable emotions, triggers, and rage?

That was all MY STUFF.

I needed to stop focusing on my kids’ behaviors and start understanding my own heart.

When I finally started working on myself, I began to see that my reactions were coming from old patterns in my brain that were built years before-that I wasn’t even aware of.  I was automatically reacting from being triggered by those patterns, and they were running the show.

But the incredible truth I was reminded of was that I wasn't powerless, and my situation wasn’t hopeless.

The truth that I had the power to change my brain.

By changing the connections in my brain, I was able to interrupt old patterns, create new ones, and begin responding from a place of awareness rather than reaction.

How?

With consistent practice, the brain literally rewires itself. You can create new pathways in your brain and new patterns. Just because a default pattern has existed for years doesn't mean you are stuck. Change is 100% possible.

I know because I've seen it in my patients, and I've experienced it in my own life.

I began to see that not only did I have the potential to change, but that anger did not have to run the show, and yelling no longer had the final say.

And I didn’t do that from a place of shame or just trying harder—but from a place of true honesty with myself and with God.

And I’m here because I wholeheartedly believe this is possible for you.
