In this episode, the coach had a chance to sit down with with Coach Tom of Nor Cal Dynasty and Coach Mel of HUI(formerly Hawaii Heat). Coach Tom has been a huge part of the Northern California and Sacramento/Rocklin area coaching scene with over 16 years in the game. Tom currently has one of the strongest independent girls programs in the area and is always doing something to push for the kids and basketball community. Whether its video's with Driffty Jay, open runs for everyone with media, or simply sitting and having conversations with his kids Coach Tom passion for the AAU space has been felt by everyone. Coach Tom was also a former YBA coach as well starting with Ken Geee the founder and coaching the first 9th grade DAWGS yba team. \ Coach Mel has been an official, director and coach and has no plans of stopping. Also he has a very notable YouTube channel and over 65K followers on instagram making funny videos and content. Coach Mel is originally from Hawaii and is a man of the people. He always shows respect to those who do the same and his son is stepping into his senior year at Rocklin high where he is hoping to go after a state title. Zach has just graduated from Sacramento State College and is currently gearing up to play in the famous "Drew League" and NBA summer pre-draft. Zach is a product of the new transfer portal and his results gave him the best outcome for his senior season of college basketball. Matt has revitalized Sac High basketball and in his first year as varsity coach has shut down any doubts of his ability to coach. Coach Johnson was not only a student-athlete at Sac high, winning multiple section titles but as his first year as head coach he won a section title which is a rare thing to happen in high school sports. Coach Johnson opens up about his personal life and growth from young athlete to family man and father. Todays topic there seems to be a recurring issue in the landscape of high school sports, especially basketball, with adults are going back to high schools tore- live athletic dreams. One case that recently has come up is Arlisha Boykins a 22 year old coach that decided to impersonate a player in order to play a JV girls basketball game. I want to understand what has created the win at all cost mentality? Also teams that play in these AAU tournaments with high level Division one kids and holdbacks but will play them at lower levels just to secure a trophy or medal has to be discussed. The term is general called "sand Bagging" or " Snow Balling" but the motivation behind this message is selfish for sure.

There is a balance you have to be very aware of when young bodies are working to get better because if you do to little you will let the competition overtake you but on the flip side if you do to much you can run the risk of injury and "burnout" for youth athletes. Todays topic is maybe controversial but its something athletes form high school to eventually the pros have to deal with, that being, women showing predatory behavior towards taking advantage of these men for some sort of status, financial or lifestyle gains. There is a common theme in our western society today that men of status are allowed to be preyed upon and they just need to protect themselves. Well what, if any, should the consequences be for women caught in the act. This topic is discussed along with the story of Brian Banks a high level high school athlete who was falsely accused of rape and lost 10 years of his life. Steav is someone coach Collins has known a long time from there former hoop days and he has had quite the journey as you will learn in the episode. Steav is currently an assistant coach at Sacramento City Junior College so his information on what it takes to become a college athlete is very valuable to the kids out there looking to make it after high school. Todays topic I want to tell coaches, families and players what my experience was at the UA Rise tournament in Indiana. Most AAU basketball teams want to eventually make it to one of the shoe circuits that play some of the best high school talent in the nation and I want to give a step by step experience on what will happen if you make it. My team went 4-1 and made some huge noise that weekend impressing a lot of college coaches but the experience and networking is well worth it. Nick is a sports editor for the San Francisco chronicle news paper and is a Oakland native born and raised. Coach Collins and Nick go way back and in the show you can hear from someone who has worked in the sports game for a long time. Nick has a passion for sports that began in High School as he was there to see the rise of Oakland Tech as a basketball power house during the Leon Powe & Demarshae Johnson era(199-2003).
