Get ready to fall in love with the Brooklyn-based "folky alternative post punk indie pop" band awesomely named almost sex. Having connected on Hinge back in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, Nick Louis and Warren LaSota’s music met and fell in love before they did. They rounded out the band with Nick’s longtime friend and collaborator, Ken Helmlinger. Much to the chagrin of all our pop culture references, Nick reluctantly could not make the recording of this episode, but we had a blast with Ken and Warren, and the whole band will be on our live show at Littlefield in Brooklyn on July 24th!

We've been buzzing about getting Kelcey Ayer on the podcast for some time, and we couldn't bee happier that it finally swarmed together. Not only have we been fans of his music for a long time, but he is as sweet as honey and stung our funny bones. Known for being in the fantastic band Local Natives, as well as his own project Jaws of Love. (which are going on tour like tomorrow), our episode with Kelcey Ayer is bee-utiful.

Sometimes Spotify gives you the exact music you need...and that's exactly what happened with Keep for Cheap, the Prairie Rock outfit from Minnesota. We were so glad we found their music and even happier we got to ask Autumn Vagle and Kate Malanaphy super silly questions, but also wondered aloud why so much damn good music comes from the Land of Lakes. The universe wanted this Bonus Episode with Chad Peck of Kestrels to happen. A fuzzy, reverb-drenched power-pop band from Halifax, Nova Scotia who excel at crafting huge-sounding songs with big hooks and ripping riffs, Kestrels came to us out of the ether of Twitter and was as patient as an angel. Now we are good pals with Chad, who teaches high school English by day and rocks out by night.

From organic farm to major music label, Jeff Gorman and Jake Cochran of Illiterate Light mix soaring indie rock and swirling psychedelia with a splash of atmospheric folk. Gorman simultaneously plays guitar with his hands and synth bass with his feet, while Cochran plays a standup drum kit. A fair episode for the welcomed warm days of approaching summer, we played some games, talked about dumpster diving, and just had a blast connecting with them, so listen up!
