Episode 100: Five and Change "Perfect Songs"
Season 1 · Episode 100
dimanche 22 juin 2025 • Duration 02:11:20
To commemorate the 100th episode I decided to talk about "perfect" songs. I go on a lot longer than I normally do, but I'm joined by some friends at the tail end of the episode to give me their takes on "perfect" songs.
Podcasts are largely absurd and this one is no exception. Thanks to anyone that supported or helped in some way with this admittedly self-indulgent endeavor. I truly appreciate it.
Episode 20: Anne Lillis (Surfrajettes/Beyonderers/Safe Words), Part 1
Season 1 · Episode 20
lundi 17 mars 2025 • Duration 01:04:00
"All of the names are taken"
Anne Lillis is the drummer for the amazing Safe Words and the equally great, but totally different Beyonderers. Since the original publish date of the interview, Anne has joined the Surfrajettes. But, I originally met her when she was in the band As If and our paths have crossed numerous times since. Anne has toured extensively with Jessica Lea Mayfield as well as Samantha Crain.
I’ve always enjoyed seeing Anne out and about and thought she’d be perfect guest for an episode. I was correct in my thinking.
Here are some of the artists that pop up in our wide ranging conversation; The Pretenders, Can, Howlin Wolf, Tanya Tucker, The Everly Brothers, The Shaggs, Gregg Allman, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, The Dirty Mac, Don Covay and The Ronettes.

Episode 97: Floco Torres (MC/Lyricist)
Season 1 · Episode 97
mercredi 12 mars 2025 • Duration 02:07:40
"I'll take 'DJs and Turntablists' for 500, Alex."
Floco Torres is a prolific Akron based MC/Lyricist that released his most recent LP "This Creative Life" a life close to six months ago. I wasn't late to the game on his music, but I was lagging behind on getting him as a guest. In any case, it was worth the wait as we go deep in the weeds about a lot of stuff, but most importantly, Chaka Khan. It a longer discussion, but well WELL worth your time.
You can check out all of Floco's music on Spotify and keep up with him here;

Episode 11: Simon Harvey (Ugly Pop Records), Part 1
Season 1 · Episode 11
jeudi 6 mars 2025 • Duration 01:12:20
"Toronto has outgrown Peter Ustinov"
Simon Harvey is an old buddy from Toronto. He is head honcho of Ugly Pop Records and a regular contributor to Ugly Things magazine as well as the excellent book “Tomorrow is Too Late” which covers the Toronto hardcore-punk scene of the early 80’s.
Simon is also an incorrigible record collector and an all-around good guy. Some of the bands we talk about: The Waitresses, The Jam, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, The Who, Sham 69, Television, XTC, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, The Viletones, Dire Straits, Die Kreuzen, Discharge, Agnostic Front, Celtic Frost, Rixe, Slant, Infest, Minor Threat, Subhumans

Episode 96: Derek Dole (Do Crime/Nickel City Soundtrack Podcast)
Season 1 · Episode 96
jeudi 27 février 2025 • Duration 01:27:31
"Properly Vetted"
My pal Derek Dole is a Buffalo native, one of the guitarists for the incredible hardcore band Do Crime and a member of the Nickel City Soundtrack podcast braintrust. We had a fun and wide ranging conversation. You can hear him on NCS weekly and his band Do Crime on bandcamp as well as Apple Music and Spotify.
Episode 34: Five and Change "Marc's Mix Tape"
Season 1 · Episode 34
jeudi 13 février 2025 • Duration 51:00
"RIP Roswell Kent Junior High"
A few years ago they tore down the building that where I attended Junior High School. It brought back a ton of memories, particularly involving music. It was there that I really started to take ownership of music and there was a particular mix tape that helped me along my way. I recorded this "Five and Change" episode to document some of my thoughts. Sound quality be damned, I've republished this for posterity.

Episode 95: Cousteau'd - Infest "Slave"
Season 1 · Episode 95
mardi 11 février 2025 • Duration 01:36:53
"Cousteau'd - Deuxième Partie"
Marc and Tim join me as we do a deep dive on the classic "Slave" Lp by hardcore legends Infest. Of course we used the scientifically accurate "Shedd Method" to pick this one apart. We tried to keep this one as short as the songs on this record, but there was a lot to cover! Enjoy!Episode 31: Matt Haas (Six Parts Seven/Actual Form) and Dave Ignizio (Square Records), Part 2
Season 1 · Episode 31
dimanche 2 février 2025 • Duration 01:40:31
"Voivod - Forever and ever and ever"
I have know Dave and Matt for years. Longer than most people in my life. The one constant aside from their friendship is that we are always talking about music. Most of these discussions occur at Dave's record store, Square Records. It made sense to do and interview with them together. I am pretty sure that this was the first live interview I had done for the podcast. In spite of the dodgy sound quality, this is one of favorite conversations recorded for the podcast. Enjoy.
Oh - This is Part 2 of 2.
