Thriving with Cannabis: The Ultimate Guide to Mindful Consumption with Amanda Reiman16 Oct 202501:02:52

Send us Fan Mail

Start with a kitchen timer and an open mind. We’re digging into how a long, loving relationship with cannabis changes as life changes—and how a mindful reset can make every milligram count again. With public health researcher and cannabis educator Amanda Reiman, we connect the dots from early Bay Area dispensary lounges born out of the HIV/AIDS movement to today’s crowded shelves, where choice is abundant but guidance is rare.

We talk about the real reasons tolerance can drop as we age, especially for women, through the lens of the endocannabinoid system and hormones. Amanda walks through a practical 28‑day tolerance break, what those manageable withdrawal‑like blips mean, and a simple framework for re‑entry: define your goal, start low, go slow, and notice. We unpack mindful consumption as awareness without judgment, choosing non‑smoked methods when they serve you better, and finding your minimum effective dose so you feel more with less. That middle voice matters: between activism that denies risk and prohibition that denies benefit, the future lives in honest, harm‑reduction‑focused habits.

We also explore effect‑based edibles that pair cannabinoids, terpenes, and botanicals—think valerian for sleep, green tea and yerba mate for energy, CBN or THCV for targeted outcomes. It’s the entourage effect, leveled up. Along the way, we address why social consumption spaces support safety for naive users, how to shop smarter for CBD (hint: dispensary testing beats gas‑station labels), and why state‑funded research is finally unlocking studies the federal system stalled. Whether you’re recalibrating after years of daily use or starting fresh, this conversation offers practical tools to rebuild joy, reduce risk, and keep your relationship with the plant evolving with you.

If this resonated, tap follow, share it with a canna‑curious friend, and continue the conversation at the Bite Me Cannabis Club.

Feel Better with An Infused Hot Toddy26 Oct 202300:16:43

In this week's episode I share a warming remedy for the common cold - an infused hot toddy. It's a comforting beverage that I turned to recently when I was feeling under the weather. It's simple to make, with hot water, lemon, lemon juice, infused honey, and an optional dash of whiskey. I find the whiskey more medicinal than alcoholic in this context, but feel free to skip it if you prefer.  Remember, you can adjust the sweetness and tartness to your liking, but be mindful of the potency of the honey.

Cannabis Infused Mojito Recipe13 Jul 202300:18:13

Send us Fan Mail

When the heat gets serious, you need something cold in your hand fast. This cannabis infused mojito recipe checks every box: it's easy, it's refreshing, it has no alcohol, and you can dial the potency up or down depending on who you're making it for. It's the drink I keep coming back to all summer, and once you make it once you'll understand why.

The whole thing comes together in a single glass. Lime, mint, soda water, ice, and infused honey. That's it. No bar equipment required. No sugar cane press (I found that one out the hard way on a trip to Tulum). Just a wooden spoon, a glass, and a few minutes of your time.

Some people call it a "mohito", and whether you spell it that way or the classic way, the drink is the same. This version just happens to make you feel a whole lot better than the alcoholic kind.

From Novice to Scones Master25 Sep 202500:15:17

Ever wondered how to make the perfect cannabis-infused scone? You're about to find out with not just one, but three amazing variations to try at home.

For six years I've been cooking with cannabis, but somehow never ventured into making scones until now. After testing lemon-rosemary, frozen blueberry, and cheddar-jalapeño varieties, I'm ready to share everything I learned about creating these delightful treats. The process turns out to be remarkably simple, combine dry ingredients, cut in cold butter (pro tip: use a microplane grater for perfect results!), add wet ingredients, form, and bake. Twenty minutes later, you're enjoying warm, delicious scones with precisely the effects you desire.

Taking control of your cannabis consumption starts in your kitchen. When you make your own edibles, you determine exactly what goes into them and how potent they'll be. Whether you're cooking for yourself or sharing with informed friends, these scone recipes give you delicious options that far surpass what you'd find at a dispensary. Ready to try them yourself? Find complete recipes in the show notes, and come share your results with us at the Bite Me Cannabis Club. Your kitchen truly is the best dispensary you'll ever have!
