| Caleb Glassman: The adaptive immune system, cell-cell signalling, viral-host interactions, tackling large scientific projects, and living a fulfilling life. | 12 Oct 2026 | 00:52:32 | |
Welcome to Bio^2 a podcast about breakthrough biology and the biographies behind it. Today I have the pleasure of talking with Caleb Glassman. He is a self described Genetics Gaucho, Viral Vaquero, and former Cytokine Cowboy but to me he is a friendly postdoc in the Elledge lab always handy with great advice and good spirits. Since first learning about the adaptive immune system in college Caleb has been all in on immunology. As a PhD student at Stanford, Caleb co-led the team that finally captured the full structure of JAK1, a signaling protein scientists had been chasing for more than two decades. Now as a postdoc in the Elledge lab Caleb has turned his attention to viruses. In a recent paper in Science, he led an effort to screen thousands of viral genes to uncover how viruses hijack our cells' ubiquitin ligase system to destroy host immune proteins. | |||
