Blue Eyes, Big Heart: Gavin in the Spotlight05 May 202500:42:12

Send us a text

In this episode, Angela and I sit down with our third-born and only blond-haired, blue-eyed child—Gavin David. With his unique mix of compassion and quiet strength, Gavin opens up about life as the middle kid, his dreams of becoming a pastor… or maybe a movie director (we’ll see which one sticks!). Things get personal as we talk about the upcoming fall, when his older brother and sister head off to college, and he steps into the role of the oldest sibling at home. Join us for laughs, sibling memories, a few dad jokes, and a heartfelt conversation with a kid whose love for others shines—even if he likes to keep to himself sometimes.

Oh, and full disclosure: Angela was running on pure caffeine, and I—regrettably—grabbed the decaf. So if my responses seem unusually calm and hers are extra peppy... now you know why. ☕😄

Also, just in case you were wondering, YES! You can substitute Cookie Crisp cereal with Rice Krispy cereal!

Cookie Crisp Treats

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp (½ stick) butter
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Cookie Crisp cereal
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt, if using.
  4. Gently fold in the Cookie Crisp cereal, making sure it’s evenly coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch pan and press down lightly with a spatula (greasing the spatula helps prevent sticking).
