On this episode of Beyond the Stride, Colton Sands joins us as him and his UNC teammates prepare for the NCAA XC Championships!
Sands talks about leading a younger roster, building team consistency and the lessons learned from past teammates, including training alongside star runners Ethan Strand and Parker Wolfe. The Tar Heel veteran also shares how the mentorship of Coach Chris Miltenberg has shaped both his running and personal growth.
Looking ahead, Sands discusses his goals for the NCAA XC Championships, including chasing All-American honors and what success looks like for the team. He also previews the upcoming track season and his long-term aspirations, offering insight into the mindset, preparation and dedication required to compete at the highest level in NCAA distance running.

The Hoya star walks our audience through her tough adjustment period to the NCAA -- running 2:20 (800) in her first-ever collegiate track race -- to toeing the line against women like Parker Valby and Katelyn Tuohy.

After dealing with multiple injuries that nearly caused her to medically retire, Elmore has gone on to have major success, running tremendous personal bests of 4:08 (1500), 4:33 (mile) and 8:50 (3k).

We've got yet another special guest on tap! BYU's Aidan Troutner just became the first-ever runner to go under four minutes in the indoor mile on Utah soil. With a 3:59 mark earning a 3:54 conversion, Troutner (currently) sits atop the NCAA mile leaderboard.
We were lucky enough to chat with Troutner regarding his historic performance, what he could potentially do over 3000 meters, possible plans for the national meet and inside stories on training with top BYU teammates.
