Beyond Clinical – Details, episodes & analysis

In this episode, I interview Jennifer Fiske, M.S., R.D.N., L.D. Jennifer Fiske, M.S., R.D.N., L.D., is a registered dietitian nutritionist with a dynamic background and wealth of experience. She has worked with youth and adult elite athletes to improve athletic performance, including a professional sports team. As a clinical dietitian, she collaborated with peers to improve the quality of evidence based practices and patient care. 

 Jenn was the first health education coordinator at DFW Airport’s LiveWell program, where she coached clients for improved job performance, disease management and quality of life. She built custom programs for employee resource groups and crafted communications for airport-wide media.

As the wellness coordinator for the Frisco Independent School District, Jenn opened onsite and virtual health clinics that provide acute care at no cost to employees. She gave tailored nutrition presentations to employees and high school athletes, established mobile mammography and educated about employee resources including coaching, financial and mental well-being programs.

Jenn currently works in product management and supports her community with her nutrition and wellness expertise.

In this episode, I interview Evita Basilio, RD.

Evita Basilio is a Registered Dietitian who currently manages Nutrition Content and Partnerships at That Clean Life and Practice Better. She spent several years in community and acute care clinical settings before entering health technology. Outside of work, Evita’s focus is on increasing access to nutritious, sustainable, and culturally appropriate food and continuing the work to increase inclusivity within the field of nutrition. Evita hosts health workshops alongside diverse practitioners, teaches community cooking classes, and mentors BIPOC nutrition students.

In our first episode of 2024, I interview Deanne Brandstetter.

Deanne Brandstetter, M.B.A., R.D. has over thirty years of experience in the food and nutrition business.  As Vice President of Nutrition & Wellness for Compass Group, North America, she leads a team that coordinates wellness programs for foodservice clients and develops innovative & award winning cross sector nutrition & wellness initiatives. She also directed the nutrition program for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah as part of the Compass Olympics Lead Management Team.

Deanne’s marketing background and passion for great food has fueled her goal of creatively translating medical and nutrition science into innovative exciting food concepts for Compass Group customers.

She earned an American Culinary Federation Silver medal for Healthy Cuisine, and has presented at meetings in the US and globally. Deanne is a Culinary Institute of America Fellow, was a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Sustainable Food Systems Roundtable and Task Force on Menu Labeling, Past-Chair of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nominating Committee, member of the Academy Diversity Committee, Past-Chair of Dietitians in Business & Communications and  2022-23 Treasurer of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics; co-chair of the CIA Healthy Menus R&D Collaborative and is serving as a WELL Nourishment concept advisor. She also serves on the Advisory Board to the Dean of the School of Education, Health and Society at Miami University. She was awarded a WELL Community Award in 2021 and the Dietitians in Business & Communications Outstanding Leader in 2022.

In our last episode of 2023, I interview Huda Rashid.

Huda is a registered dietitian working as a product manager within Loblaw Brands. She started as an in-store dietitian with Loblaw and moved into the assistant product manager role and then to the product manager role where she is now responsible for managing the private label portfolio for baby and sports nutrition items under the PC Organics and PC brands by ensuring delivery of a long-term product plan and strategic vision bringing exciting new foods into the market.

In this episode I interview Raman Khatar.

Raman completed her Bachelor’s degree and dietetic internship at the University of Manitoba in 2009 and went on to earn her Master of Public Health from the University of British Columbia in 2013. In her 15 years as a dietitian, she has worked in everything from clinical dietetics all the way to supervising international nutrition projects with the United Nations.

For the past 10 years, Raman has been a retail dietitian with Save-On-Foods in western Canada, and has taken on a diverse set of roles with the company including media, marketing, branding, health strategy, category management and business development.
