The last thing anyone needs is any more talk about the pandemic. But this episode - a short one - is essential listening. Speaking to Leyla, deputy director at a London-based refugee charity, we explore how the Coronavirus pandemic has impacted the lives of refugees living in the UK. We also explore the roles that UK universities can play in bringing as many of those refugees to higher education as possible. Give this episode twenty minutes of your time as you make some lunch or go on a walk, and find out more about the specific impact that the pandemic has had on refugees in the UK.

Living Beyond Borders16 fÊvr. 202100:37:53

Army barracks in the UK, refugee camps across Europe and Germany's 'Welcome Culture' towards refugees - in our second episode, we talk to two guests about what it means to study and 'live' beyond borders as a refugee. With Tigs, our community officer, and Eyas Adi, a refugee living in Germany, we will cover the current scandal surrounding refugee accommodation in  Kent, Germany's record on refugees and what it's like to live and study from refugee camps.

Introducing Beyond Borders30 janv. 202100:34:13

Beyond Borders is a brand new podcast from the entirely student-led Cambridge Refugee Scholarship Campaign. We are committed to widening refugee access to higher education. In this first episode, Freddie speaks to Daniella Adeluwoye, the external President of the Campaign to explain what we stand for and what we do. Then, live from Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, Zakaria Odowa speaks to us about his experiences as a refugee student and introduces us to some of the obstacles that refugees face as they turn towards university. Listen to find out more about one of the most troubling consequences of the refugee crisis.
