Charge Your Worth and ADD TAX! How To Ask for a Raise
As we all know, inflation is increasing the costs of supplies and products in our industry. We have been seeing a lot of posts on social media recently on small businesses raising their prices- which is great, however, sometimes that can come with staff asking for a raise for themselves.
This episode will give you the tools on how to write your raise request from a CONFIDENT voice that is WORTH the raise. How to schedule a meeting, what to have prepared, how to figure out how much you make an hour after tips + commission, and so much more!
The formula for figuring out your wage including extras: Your total earnings sum (we recommend after taxes) / hours worked that pay period= hourly rate
Example: ($500 paycheck + $400 in tips + $200 in commission) is $1,100. Divided by 30 hours of work= $27.50

Tomai Hira's Double Mastectomy and "2 wings of Strength"
When we were developing Bryght's new skincare line for #CancerThrivers , the only stock photos we could find of breast cancer models all looked... sad. While that definitely is a part of having cancer, it's not the whole story. So instead of paying licensing fees for stock photo, we decided we would scout out our own model, and that money could go towards a real person. We wanted our model to be HAPPY, STRONG, and having FUN during our photoshoot. They say laughter is the best medicine, right?
While the Bryght team took an Oncology Esthetics course from the lovely people at oti-oncologytraining.com we shared our idea. They immediately thought of this woman, Tomai ( @tomai_hira ) Tomai lives in New Zealand and is a cancer survivor who had a double mastectomy. When we got in contact with her to ask her to share her body and her story with us, she cried. We all cried!!!
Then... a photographer. We are in North America- not New Zealand. So.. To the 'Gram we went. Through hashtags, we found a New Zealand based photographer, @annupam .. As it turns out, the day we messaged, they were at a breast cancer charity photoshoot. I mean, WHAT?! If you believe in the universe... WOW.
So, here is the result- a beautiful campaign featuring real people in the breast cancer community and their stories.
We are so excited to FINALLY share this with you all! We know Strength and Courage are going to change lives, because they already have.

Tiktok user @Anneke618 creates parody Rae Dunn products, and Rae Dunn's legal team has taken legal action against small business owner Anneke, forcing her to remove her Etsy store.
Anneke received over 4 Million views and thousands of orders after sharing her story online, and shipping mugs that say "Live, Laugh, Lawsuit" and "That's Not Very #Girlboss Of You" to Rae Dunn corporate.
Any publicity is good publicity... right?

Dani Reeves has competed in the Miss Iowa USA pageant system as a Teen and a Miss contestant. This gave her the opportunity to meet modeling agents and further her interest in the modeling world. She then won the title of Miss Iowa USA 2007 and competed in the Miss USA pageant in March of 2007. In 2009 she competed in the Miss United States Earth pageant in Las Vegas, NV, and was crowned Miss United States Fire. While at the pageant in Las Vegas she made the decision to further her modeling career by moving to Las Vegas. In November 2009 she packed up and moved to Las Vegas where she started modeling full time. She has modeled for many top designers as well as Saks, Nordstrom, Macy's, and many other retail stores. She has lived and modeled internationally in Athens, Greece as well as Milan, Italy. She is the Media Director for Deluxe Version Magazine and a part of the Luxe News Live team covering Red Carpet events and celebrity interviews. She is the host for Amazon Prime's reality series Veganista, a fashion make-over series set in Las Vegas.

Ashley tells us how her job was impacted when she once had to unexpectedly take an 8-month sick leave and was laid off from a restaurant job for "not partying enough". Luba's scorned by bosses past, and hurls into a trashcan while working at a cash register only to meet that boss again later down the line when she was their boss and schooled 'em on workplace management!
