Three artists that we feel The Website is a little scared to admit they don't quite know what to do with. Note: At one point in the show we inaccurately claim that Tyler, the Creator's 2019 album IGOR won a Grammy in the "Urban" category. It’s about beating each other at a made-up game. For fun. We award ourselves points based on the accuracy of our predictions. Those points are awarded as follows. Deep DivesClosest to the actual rating gets 3 points, unless it’s a tie – then each get 1.5 points. In the event of a 3-way tie, each player receives 1 point. A Perfect Pitch (a guess that ends up exactly matching Pitchfork’s rating) awards the winner an additional 4 points. If, on the other hand, there is a tied Perfect Pitch each pitcher gets 2 points, or 1.33 points each for a triple Perfect Pitch. Finally, an accurately guessed “Best New Music” designation yields an additional 1.5 points, while an inaccurately guessed BNP removes 1.5 points from the player’s total. Lightning RoundSame as above, but all point values are cut in half. Note: This scoring criteria will eventually reside in an assumedly much more pleasing-to-the-eye form on an honest-to-goodness Internet Web Site. At some point soon. The haunted Roomba that writes these show notes simply hasn’t gotten around to the task of building it yet. (It’s caught in a corner.) | |||

Up top we discuss the recent dry spell in Best New Tracks and what it might mean in terms of the 'Fork’s evolving digital strategery. (Then, a few days after recording, they posted a new BNT, ending said dry spell. Is this all part of a larger conspiracy on the part of The Website to foil our segments? Likely. We’re looking into it. Meanwhile we’re confident that our larger points still stand.) Hyperlinks of interestRecorded Thursday, January 24th, 2019
