This episode of Sons of Anarchy is called “Fix” and should be called - NOTHING IS FIXED! Clay and Gemma are unraveling which is driving Clay to make decisions out of anger and spite. Hes beating up her car, causing trouble at Cara Cara, and the wedge between him and Jax continues to be hammered in. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, Halloween and Quidditch

Harry and Ron become Sherlock Holmes and Watson and this chapter has the iconic movie scene turned viral internet meme "It's LeviOsa not LeviosA" or however you spell it. While Hermione looks very smart and talented, it doesn't make Ron feel very good to be shown up by his Charms partner. His reaction was... not great. He says some mean things about Hermione, leading her to spend the rest of the day in the girls bathroom, crying. 

At the Halloween feast, Quirrelldemort pulls his troll nonsense, which is a plot line I touch on thoroughly and sparked this week's bonus episode "Trolling Dumbledore" which is available to Free Elf Patrons and above (https://www.patreon.com/BelatedBinge). We then get a TON of action with Harry and Ron saving Hermione from the troll with a well placed wand up the nose and a successful pronunciation from Ron dropping a club on the troll's head. This naturally forms our Golden Trio (finally). Quidditch was highlighted by Harry nearly plummeting to his death from a broomstick, which becomes bit of a theme in these books... This time of course, it was Quirrell trying to kill him. Oh, and Hermione catches Snape ON FIRE!!!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone The Potions Master & The Midnight Duel

We chat about professor Quirrell and his weird turban that is hiding a parasitic snake face Voldemort. We also compare what this has in common with pregnancy, we talk about professor Snape and his teaching ability (or lack-there-of) after his introductory class. Of course, this is the first time he went out of his way to bully Harry in front of his class, to the delight of Draco Malfoy. We also talk about Snape and how he treats Harry and children in general when he's teaching Potions class. We also talk about Snape and a fun theory about a hidden message in his first interactions with Harry.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, The Journey to Platform 9 3/4 & The Sorting Hat

On The Journey to Platform 9 3/4, we meet the Weasleys! Sparking the inspiration for this week's exclusive bonus episode "MI7 Kids" about Molly Weasley and her role in Dumbledore's master plan. This is available for Free Elf Patrons and above (https://www.patreon.com/BelatedBinge).

The introduction to the Weasleys is quite the saving grace for Harry after the Dursleys leave him alone at Kings Cross train station to be kidnapped by anyone while he tries to figure out where Platform 9 3/4 is. It also begins the single most important friendship of Harry's life (Ron Weasley of course), which I defend in this episode. They nearly throw down with Malfoy and his goons on the Hogwarts Express before meeting the future 3rd member of the golden trio Hermione Granger.

In The Sorting Hat, all 3 of our main characters get sorted into Gryffindor. I'll put a focus on Ron as a character, foreshadow what's to come, theorize about what would happen without the Harry & Ron train ride (possible Draco Malfoy friendship??), and of course give away episode awards!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, Diagon Alley

In this chapter Harry leaves with the giant stranger Hagrid to go on a trip to... well Diagon Alley. They do some school shopping, we get an info dump and by the way Harry is famous! We go to the bank, get our main plot device (but we don't know it's the Sorcerer's Stone yet of course) and meet one of our favorite (Hedwig) and one of our least favorite characters (Draco Malfoy) along the way.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, The Letters from No One (3) & The Keeper of the Keys (4).

Vernon spends a full chapter having a nervous breakdown when Hogwarts letters fill every inch of his perfectly normal suburban home, yet Harry can't get ahold of a single one. The only logical choice is to drag his family to the middle of some random body of water with nothing but a couple bags of chips and a shotgun. This is when Hagrid makes a grand re-entrance into our story. We learn how Harry really lost his parents, that he's a wizard and instead of taking his anger out on Vernon and/or Petunia for keeping this information from Harry all his life. Or perhaps abusing him for the past 10 years. Hagrid instead gives Dudley a pig tail, and not the hairstyle.

In the discussion we'll take a closer look at Hagrid as a character, theorize how this all would have gone down if Harry had just read the first letter he received in the hallway and as usual, call out my favorite foreshadow moments and give away meaningless awards.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, The Vanishing Glass.

It’s Dudley Dudley’s birthday and he’s a spoiled brat. But at least Harry gets to go to the zoo I guess. In case you thought taking Harry in all those years ago would have been a turning point for the Dursleys, it wasn't, they still suck. A LOT! I talk about many of the ways in which they suck. And really focus on Harry's character, despite how much they suck. We check in on Dumbledore's big plan. Oh, and Harry can talk to snakes? That has to be significant right??? Who else do we know who could do that? We compare and contrast a little bit with that character who must not be..... TOM RIDDLE aka VOLDEMORT!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone - The Boy Who Lived It's here!!!

The re-binge of Harry Potter has officially begun. The first episode of the Belated Binge podcast covers the first chapter of the series which begins on an iconic opening line through the eyes of Vernon Dursley who is NOT the main character. He’s a stick in the mud on his best day and this wasn’t his best day. Too many abnormal things happening for his liking. Once he goes to sleep the real story begins as Albus Dumbledore drops off baby Harry Potter. On the doorstep, which is exactly what you do with an infant! Much of the discussion puts a magnifying glass on Dumbledore, the information he's keeping close to the vest during his discussions with Professor McGonagall and Hagrid, and the foundation of his master plan. I share some of my thoughts and theories, also some of my favorite foreshadow moments from the chapter.
