Vicky Councilman, a Christian, is an active participant in a Jewish bible class at Temple Emanuel in Greensboro, N.C. Councilman contends the atmosphere in the Jewish class encourages the questioning of the meaning of Torah passages, and Rabbinic interpretations, unlike many Christian bible classes she has attended, in which challenging the pastor's interpretation of biblical passages is frowned upon.

Councilman sees the Torah clarifying the teachings of the New Testament, and service as a bridge between Judaism and Christianity.
