A Client Success Story (Encore)28 janv. 202500:14:33

When I asked the Becoming a Sleep Consultant Facebook community for ideas about what I could share on the podcast, people came out of the woodworks to request that I share more client success stories. This recent story is a good one! I was hired by a mom who was 37 weeks pregnant and already had a two year old and four year old at home. The two year old slept great but the four year old was really having a hard time. Bedtime was taking an hour or two before she would finally settle, and then she was coming into her parents’ room to sleep at some point overnight. Mom was nervous that with a new baby coming, their four year old’s sleep would be disrupted if she was sleeping on the floor of their room with the baby also sharing that space. Nothing like a time crunch to solve a sleep struggle! We got to work right away and had almost immediate success. The parents were fully on board with the process and our teamwork went a long way. I hope you enjoy this story!

As a sleep consultant, you will come up against challenging cases—and that’s OK! This week on the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m sharing a story about parents who pushed back on safe sleep guidelines—something I had never experienced in 12 years of working with families.

Navigating this situation tested me in ways I didn’t expect, but it also reinforced how critical it is to:
- Stick to evidence-based practices
- Hold strong to your boundaries
- Trust in your expertise

If you’re worried about how you’ll handle tricky situations as a sleep consultant, I promise this episode will give you the confidence to know you can handle it. You’ll see, by standing firm and leading with compassion, you can still support families AND do what’s right for their little ones.

One Year in Business and Niching Down with Ruth Marquez17 déc. 202400:28:06

Ruth's passion for sleep began when she discovered the profound impact healthy sleep habits can have on our lives. As an adult, she recognized the toll that sleep deprivation takes on our well-being, which led her to wonder about its effects on young children. After working in childcare for over 16 years, and with the support of her husband, Ruth decided to shift careers, leave her 9-to-5 job, and pursue certification through Center for Pediatric Sleep Management (CPSM).

In her new role, Ruth identified a significant gap in the support available to parents struggling with toddler sleep issues, leading her to develop the Bedtime Battles Fix program, which has already helped more than 35 families transform their toddlers sleep patterns. Through a confidence-based approach, Ruth empowers parents to regain control of bedtime struggles and find sustainable, restful sleep solutions for their children.

With her expertise and unwavering commitment to supporting families, Ruth is on a mission to restore hope for toddler families and teach them a fresh, effective approach to sleep training.

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, Ruth shares:
• How her business has evolved over the past year, including the changes she made to boost both revenue and personal fulfillment.
• Why she chose to specialize in toddler sleep.
• Her plans to develop a program offering continuing education for sleep consultants who want to better support families with older children.

A CPSM Graduate Spotlight with Brittany Hefetz12 nov. 202400:22:27

Brittany is a mom of two, a dedicated nurse practitioner specializing in pulmonary and sleep, and a certified pediatric sleep consultant through CPSM. Her interest in baby sleep took root six years ago with the birth of her son, but it wasn’t until her daughter arrived three years later that she fully immersed herself in understanding infant sleep. Both of Brittany's children struggled with sleep early on, which led her to spend countless hours figuring out effective sleep strategies. Brittany’s talent for improving sleep became clear as friends began seeking her advice with their own babies. Often, she would think, "I should really find a way to make a business out of this."

In February 2024, Brittany decided to take her passion to the next level by enrolling in Center for Pediatric Sleep Management’s sleep consultant certification program. She officially launched her sleep consulting business in March 2024 and hasn’t looked back since.

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast Brittany shares:
- What it’s like for her to grow a successful sleep consulting business while working full time and simultaneously raising two young children.
- How she leverages her medical credentials to stand out in the field

Growing Up with a Mom Who is a Sleep Consultant with Sid Havens05 nov. 202400:15:01

In this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I sit down with a very special guest: my 12-year-old son, Sid! I thought it would be fun to bring Sid on the podcast to share what it’s like growing up in a household where mom runs a busy sleep consulting business while also trying her best to prioritize being present for the family. Sid shares what he thinks sleep consulting is, his thoughts on balancing work and family time, and even how he helps out with the toddlers and preschoolers who struggle with sleep.

Sid also shares some of his own creative work—a sports newsletter for kids and families who love keeping up with the game—and even gives some encouraging words for kids whose parents are considering becoming sleep consultants. Sid’s insight and humor made this such a joy to record, and I hope you enjoy hearing his take on our unique family life as much as I did!

Getting Started with Crystal Sedore11 juin 202400:28:08

Crystal is a certified pediatric sleep consultant, wife, mother to a precious baby girl and the owner and founder of Rest Within Reach.

Two years ago, after having a traumatic birth experience, an undiagnosed tongue-tie, challenges with nursing leading to 14 months of exclusive pumping, coupled with lack of support and sleepless nights, Crystal was quickly spiraling into physical exhaustion and mild postpartum depression. Crystal graduated from CPSM in February of 2024 and is passionate about helping families achieve sleep for their littles so that mental and physical rest can be achieved by all, because support shouldn't end at birth.  Rest is within reach!

Sleep Consulting as a Homeschooling Mom with Selina Cotton14 mai 202400:22:29

Selina Cotton has been supporting parents in the perinatal period since 2014. She began as a birth doula and transitioned over to postpartum support after her first child was born. For several years, she exclusively worked overnights, while raising two babies of her own. Over time, she realized that her favorite aspect of postpartum family support was helping parents to create healthy sleep habits from the very beginning. She saw firsthand just how much the entire family could thrive and parents could truly enjoy parenthood when everyone was getting quality sleep.

In 2021, Selina trained as a sleep consultant so she could better support her postpartum clients. She soon discovered that the solutions-oriented role of sleep consulting is where her true passion lies, so she stepped away from doula work to prioritize virtual sleep support. Selina is the owner of Connected Sleep Solutions, where she works part-time as a sleep consultant, while caring for and homeschooling her two children full-time.

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consulting podcast Selina shares:
- How she juggles homeschooling her kids and running her sleep consulting business
- What it looks like for her to market her business and connect with prospective clients

A Client Success Story with Jayne Havens09 avr. 202400:14:33
