| 279 - Oops. Podcasting Fail or No? | 26 May 2025 | 00:16:28 | |
Jill invites listeners this week to listen in as she offers up some exciting updates - plans for the near future that are on the horizon. This isn’t an episode that Jill had technically planned, but that is also kind of her point. After scrapping not one but two full recordings (one because it didn’t feel right, the other because of a technical mishap), she offers listeners this entirely raw and unscripted episode to discuss what happens when things fall apart or veer off course. What do we do when things don't go according to plan, when the work that we poured our hearts into disappears without a trace, when something we thought was meant for others ends up being just for us? She also certainly does not hold back when it comes to calling out toxic productivity and the way that we deplete ourselves by overgiving, and she shares what it looks like to unapologetically prioritize yourself. You’ll also hear some behind-the-scenes insight into how she’s built a profitable coaching practice on her terms, without burning out or selling herself short, so while this episode might have been a bit unplanned, it's nothing short of real and authentic.
[01:32] - Hear how Jill scrapped two recordings after technical issues and a vulnerability hangover left her feeling unsatisfied.

| 272 - Feeling Grief AND Joy at Once as a Mom | 07 Apr 2025 | 00:17:51 | |
Listen in to Jill this week as she discusses what it means to truly support mothers, not just with fleeting moments of self-care but in a way that actually changes their well-being. She shares how, while on a family trip to Orlando with her young grandson, she found herself observing the often-unseen weight that so many mothers carry. While at the resort, Jill reflects on how she saw an all-too-familiar scene: mothers managing the chaos of young children while some fathers remained on the sidelines. It sparked a reflection on her own past, on the exhaustion, guilt, and expectations that so many moms have to deal with. Jill opens up about her own childhood, the absence of family vacations, and how this trip with her grandson brought unexpected healing. She also shares her thoughts on what real support for moms looks like and introduces her upcoming program, Plot Twist: OnlyMoms Edition, which isn’t about parenting tips or quick-fix advice but rather about creating a space where mothers can be vulnerable, rewrite their own stories, and prioritize themselves without guilt. Because as Jill has learned, a child’s success isn’t just about schedules and structure; it starts with a mother who feels fulfilled, seen, and happy. If you have ever felt the weight of motherhood and/or wondered what it would feel like to truly set it down, then you will want to tune in this week because this episode is definitely for you! | 270 - Motherhood Unfiltered: The Struggle is Real | 24 Mar 2025 | 00:29:26
Listen in to Be YOU this week as Jill shares a shorter but still incredibly important episode. What happens when no one talks about the real struggles of motherhood, not the cherry-picked Instagram posts or self-deprecating memes but the truths that we are too ashamed to say out loud? That's exactly what Jill is addressing in this episode. Inspired by a conversation that literally left her breathing easier, Jill reflects on the importance of finding balance between personal growth and lighter moments that make us feel human, even, as she calls it, effervescent. She shares how years of doing the heavy, inner work made her forget what it felt like to simply come up for air like a whale needs to do after feeding, to laugh, to watch bad TV, to be light. That realization shapes this episode on the shorter side in which Jill offers listeners a moment to breathe while naming the weight that so many moms carry. Via honest reflections and listener submissions, Jill exposes the relentless, contradictory pressures that so many mothers face - from feeding kids the “right” foods to measuring every parenting decision against the long list of expert advice. It’s not just about raising children but also about getting through the expectations that turn motherhood into a high-stakes performance. Social media leads to comparison traps, the impossible demand to be both present and productive, the quiet fantasies of running away for just a moment of peace – the bitter truth is all here, so whether you are a mom, love a mom, and/or are healing your relationship with your own mom, Jill invites you this week to take a breath and feel less alone in the chaos that not enough people talk about!

| 269 - Creating the Inner Safety to Live Your Dreams with Kari Azuma | 17 Mar 2025 | 01:14:25 | |
Jill is so excited to finally have Kari Azuma on the show! Kari is a certified coach and what she calls an “intuitive nervous system surgeon,” and she joins Jill to discuss what it takes to feel safe and resilient, stressing that it is not about trying to fix yourself but rather acknowledging yourself. She explores how our early life experiences shape our sense of safety and influence our lives, challenging the idea that transformation happens through trying to force perfection, instead offering a path that is focused on self-awareness and compassion. Listen as Kari shares and reflects on her own journey, including the challenges of motherhood that led her to this work. She explains why slowing down, paying attention to what your body is trying to tell you, and creating a relationship with your nervous system are so important to being truly resilient. She argues that this is not about quick fixes but is rather about learning to hold yourself through chaos and uncertainty. She also introduces her upcoming Foundations of Safety course and vision quests, designed to help women reconnect with themselves, so whether you are feeling stuck in old patterns or simply looking for more ease in your life, Jill invites you to listen to this conversation which offers a great perspective on what it really means to create safety in your life!

| 268 - What I Learned from a Therapist Last Week | 10 Mar 2025 | 00:31:53 | |
Join Jill this week for an impromptu reflection on personal growth, self-perception, and the value of being supported. She shares her recent experiences not as a coach but as a client, opening up about the insights that she gained from two powerful coaching sessions with Dr. Laura Perez and Dr. Georgie Muir (both of whom have actually been on the show before). With Dr. P, Jill explored the story of Buddha and the demons, definitely an appropriate metaphor for how she has dealt with mom guilt. She realized that her book, which is still forming within her but that she hopes to have out by spring 2026, is an invitation to sit with these feelings, to acknowledge them, and to release them with grace. It’s a project not just for others, but for herself because some stories demand to be written. Her session with Dr. Georgie was also enlightening for her. Dr. Muir uncovered something perhaps even more personal for Jill: the fear of being seen. Despite years of creating in anonymity, Jill senses a change in the future, a step into more visibility. Through unexpected bodywork exercises, she shares having felt an undeniable release which served as confirmation for her that taking up space isn’t just necessary; it’s safe even though the tension lingers. She encourages listeners to ask themselves what it means to be truly seen, not just by an audience but by ourselves, by our partners, by the people who matter most. Also stay tuned as Jill provides some info about her upcoming Plot Twist retreat and also offers some quick updates such as how she is still sticking to a carnivore diet which has continued to improve her life. This is an informative, insightful, and intimate episode of Be YOU that you will not want to miss!
[02:08] - Jill acknowledges that even coaches need coaches which is why she booked calls with Dr. Laura Perez and Dr. Georgie Muir.

| 267 - Why You Lose Your Shit and How to Stop | 03 Mar 2025 | 00:33:59 | |
Many of us have been taught to push through stress, wear busyness as a badge of honor, and keep up appearances no matter what, but join Jill this week as she discusses the possibility of true resilience not really being about handling more but about feeling more. Jill reflects on how she changed her relationship with stress, shifting from overwhelm to a place of calmness and being present. Using a personal story of a particularly demanding day (a day that would have once caused her to spiral), Jill explains the power of expanding what she calls the "window of tolerance." This isn’t about endurance or being productive but is about making room for joy, peace, and trusting yourself. Through somatic practices, breathwork, and sensory techniques, she offers some practical ways to reconnect with the body rather than just trying to outthink it. Jill, in addition, challenges our cultural obsession with busyness, suggesting that our inability to slow down isn’t a sign of strength but is rather a silent distress signal. She invites us to step inside our inner world and to stop running and start listening. By working on a more compassionate connection with ourselves, we don’t just cope better; we actually experience life more fully. If you’ve ever felt trapped in a cycle of stress and self-doubt and feeling like you need to constantly be busy, then this episode of Be YOU offers another way forward, so listen in as Jill touches upon all of this and more!

| 266 - I Cannot Believe I’m Doing This | 24 Feb 2025 | 00:26:16 | |
Jill takes some this week for a little bit of what she calls “tea time,” sharing some recent, exciting updates. Feeling a little low-energy but still grounded in gratitude, she discusses what it means to allow yourself to feel what you're feeling in the moment and explores the importance of allowing your emotions to process without forcing toxic positivity. Some big updates in her life include the launch of her first online group coaching program in years, and she opens up about microdosing psilocybin as part of her creative and personal journey, explaining how it’s helping her take on a new phase of self-discovery. She also recounts her unexpected experience with Japanese acupuncture and how it differs from traditional Chinese acupuncture. She reflects on the surprising effect that it has had on her well-being, energy, and even libido! There is also this little curveball: Jill has gone full carnivore! Yes, that is strict carnivore, meaning meat, eggs, butter, and salt. It’s a shift that defies everything she once believed about nutrition, but she has followed her intuition, and the results have been fascinating. This episode is an intimate reflection on self-honoring choices, the power of intuition, and some ways we can support our bodies and minds in unexpected ways, so listen in for Jill’s candid thoughts on listening to yourself, setting boundaries, and embracing the sometimes unpredictable paths to feeling your best! | 263 - Ready to Shed Like a Snake | 03 Feb 2025 | 00:24:34
Jill takes time this week to discuss the power of shedding old identities, embracing transformation, and reconnecting with our most authentic selves! The Year of the Snake is here, bringing forth wisdom and an invitation to release the masks that we have been wearing for far too long. Join Jill as she explores what it really looks like to let go of the limiting beliefs that no longer serve us. She talks about why it is that we unconsciously shape ourselves to be more "palatable" for others and what it takes to break free from that. This episode of Be YOU isn’t just about reflection, though; it’s about ACTION, so Jill lists some ways to truly put transformation into motion via journaling, movement, meditation, and deep self-inquiry. You can also expect to hear a powerful message about self-worth, the importance of surrender, and why you don’t need to "fix" yourself (hint: there was never anything wrong with you in the first place!) If you have been feeling stuck or are simply curious about the energy of this new year, then you will definitely want to join Jill for this episode and not miss it!

| 256 - Honoring Your Internal Winter AND a Guided Meditation | 16 Dec 2024 | 00:29:57 | |
Jill welcomes you this week as she discusses the current winter season. With the Winter Solstice coming up (which is, of course, the shortest day and longest night of the winter), she discusses her reasons for personally loving winter and how she regards it as a time for slowing down and reflecting. If you go outside during the winter, you will notice that nature takes this time to pause and be still, but humans so often don’t. Why is that? Society tends to encourage us to keep going and pushing on, but it’s so important that we honor slowing down and becoming insular because it helps enhance our health in multiple ways, including physically, mentally, and spiritually. So many of us don’t not only because of external pressures but also because trying to be still can drive us crazy which is why Jill encourages conscious, committed, and consistent effort. Jill encourages listeners to allow themselves to really embrace winter and to be still, but what exactly does that mean? She gives some examples such as becoming more insular, focusing on rest and nourishment, limiting social media and phone usage, and spending time outdoors even when it’s cold. She discusses why it’s important to connect with nature and to be outdoors more often, especially for people who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder. This episode of Be YOU is an invitation for you, an invitation to give yourself the gift of winter stillness and calm and all of its rewards, to make peace with the season of winter, and if you are able to, Jill also invites you to join her for about ten minutes of guided meditation at the very end of the show! | 244 - Chicken Medicine - Guilt, Codependency, and Rescuing (Revisit) | 30 Sep 2024 | 00:47:16
Listen in this week as Jill brings us back to episode 158 of the podcast in which she shares some personal reflections on codependency, using her experience with chickens as a powerful metaphor. After her podcast gained significant success, ranking in the top 100 out of 2 million shows, Jill discusses a truly humbling moment when she forgot to record an insightful episode, leading her to contemplate the deeper lessons in her life! She begins by recounting her journey of raising chickens on her 30-acre property in rural Indiana. Through funny and touching stories about bonding with her chickens, Jill explores how her care for them mirrors her tendency to neglect her own needs. This connection serves as a lens for understanding codependency, particularly her struggle with feeling responsible for others' happiness, including her children. As she learns to care for her chickens without overextending herself, Jill uncovers a critical truth, which is that we often take on others' burdens, believing that we can shield them from pain, with the reality being that this only prolongs their lessons and reinforces our own patterns of guilt. By stepping back and allowing her chickens – and, of course, by extension, her loved ones - to face their challenges, Jill gains clarity on how to foster self-worth and set healthy boundaries. Tune in for a blend of lighthearted anecdotes and profound insights in this episode, as Jill encourages everyone to reflect on their own relationships and personal growth. Through her honest storytelling, Jill invites us to examine how we care for ourselves and others, while embracing the important lessons that life presents! | 242 - A Loving Reminder to Go Easy on Yourself (Revisit) | 16 Sep 2024 | 00:18:46
Jill takes us back to episode 177 this week in which she delivers a powerful message about having compassion for ourselves, urging us to break free from the relentless cycle of self-criticism and perfectionism. Acknowledging the inner voice that often tells us that we are "not doing it right,” she invites us to challenge that narrative. Rather than constantly trying to "fix" or change ourselves, Jill suggests that the path to true growth and happiness comes from accepting and loving who we are, as we are! Jill discusses the concept of letting go of the pressure to always improve and instead embracing a gentler, more compassionate approach to personal development. She shares a poignant analogy and compares the effort to heal while still criticizing oneself to trying to cure a wound with the same knife that caused the injury. This episode of Be You truly emphasizes the importance of nurturing ourselves with love and patience, much like we would a child or a pet, and shifting the focus from achieving an ideal version of ourselves to simply allowing our true selves to emerge! Tune in and walk away with a renewed perspective on personal growth, one that champions softness, kindness, and the recognition that true progress doesn't come from force but from grace. If you’ve ever felt like you’re not doing enough or not living up to expectations, then this episode is definitely for you! | 236 - What's Your Doughnut? Blessings Come When You Give it Up | 05 Aug 2024 | 00:18:46
Tune in to Jill's exploration of the idea of identifying your “doughnut” as she uses her personal journey of temporarily giving up Instagram (her “doughnut”) as an example. Your “doughnut,” as she explains, is something that you are deeply attached to, something that you would be afraid to give up or that you feel you wouldn't be able to. It could be a habit or activity, a substance or a food, or even a digital distraction. Sharing her experience of temporarily quitting Instagram, she reveals that it was a decision that led her to unexpected lessons about her own habits and emotional needs. She discusses how this break from Instagram exemplified her dependency on social media for dopamine hits and the false sense of connection it provided, making her feel like she had genuine connections and friendships with people whom she really didn't. She also reflects on how stepping away from Instagram allowed her to recognize the volume of information being consumed on a daily basis and the unnecessary pressures that that placed on her life. Through this process, she discovered newfound peace and clarity, realizing that true connection and fulfillment come from within, rather than through external validation or endless scrolling. Listen in to gain insights into how identifying and temporarily giving up your own "doughnut" can lead to profound personal growth and lessons about yourself! Jill encourages you to think about what your own “doughnut” might be and how taking a break from it could reveal deeper lessons and benefits you might not have foreseen. Whether it's a food, a habit, or something else, this episode invites you to challenge yourself and embrace the possible change that could result from stepping away from your comfort zone!
