In this episode, I take a brief look at what yoga is-and what it is not. I have often been asked what Yoga is, and how it differs from Pilates. If I had a pound for every time... Although this is a MASSIVE subject, and like most esoteric and metaphysical modalities it is incrediby diffcult to define, in this short episode I attempt to outline what for me is the clearest definition of yoga I can give at this stage in my spiritual journey, drawing from my own study with various teachers and personal experience. I touch on how it differs from Pilates, what the main purpose of Yoga practices are, advanced asana practice and why its not entirely necessary and so much more. Recording this episode has opened up many wider questions and my views may be controversial for some. As always my intention here is to share and learn in a non-judgmental space. Episode 2: The Power Of Intention02 Apr 202500:22:50

In this episode, I explore the power of intention, both in our yoga practice and in the rest of our lives. I explain why setting an intention at the beginning of your yoga practice can be so powerful and impactful. I also talk about the law of attraction, the ripple affect of our behaviour and energy to those around us and ourselves, and how being intentional with all that we do leads us to become more self aware and more able to act with kindness and compassion.

In this episode I also mention one of my incredible teachers; the amazing Nikki Slade of Free The Inner Voice. With Nikki I am learning traditional Bhakti chanting and how to lead Kirtan. She is an incredible teacher and my Journey with her has been (and continues to be) incredibly healing and therapeutic.  Ill be talking more about my experiences in this part of my practice in later episodes. Nikki does 1:1 sessions and immersive courses all over the UK as well as weekly Kirtan sessions in person and online.

Episode 13: The Basics Of The Nervous System, The Bodies Innate wisdom & How Yoga can Help you Hack it 07 Jul 202500:42:44

In this episode I dive into the basics of how the nervous sytsem works in the body. I explain how the fight or flight stress response works and why its there, and how it is an essential part of our bodies innate ancient wisdom and survival system. I look at how when this system is switched on too much, and the body is in a chronic state of stress it can become disastrously detrimental to your health. I also talk about how the opposing parasympathetic or rest and digest sytstem works and how the powerful practices of yoga can help us to hack this system, and relearn how to relax. Episode 11: 10 minute Guided Mantra Meditation: Aham Brahmasmi16 Jun 202500:17:39

In this episode I guide you through a lovely mantra based meditation practice.

"Aham Brahmasmi" basicaly translates as "I am the universe" " Or I am universal consciousness."

This mantra comes from the Advaita Vedanta tradition, and is one of four important mantras from the Mahavakyas within the ancient scriptures of the Upanishads. Without getting too academic, you can think of Brahman as the ultimate universal consciousness, and the Atman or seer as the self. This mantra is an invitation to explore the concept that both Brahman and Atman are one and the same. Its a beautiful and scared exclamation of your oneness with everything, whatever that might mean for you.

Episode 9: Meditation As a Portal To The Self: How Meditation is The Ultimate Tool To Get To Know Yourself Better, Begin To Heal and Change Your World04 Jun 202500:26:50

In this episode we take another look at the benefits of meditation, specifically looking at meditation as an incredibly powerful tool to help open the door to self enquiry, which is the first step towards greater self knowledge, self awareness and healing. When we can take this first brave step towards getting to know ourselves better, we can begin to understand that we are not our thoughts, or emotions and that they do not define who we are. We can tap into the "true self" within, which is a powerful source of peace and wisdom.

The implications on this shift in perspective can have an amazingly powerful impact not just on how we view and conduct ourselves, but also on our relationships, communities and the wider world around us.

In this short episode I take a brief look at the power of silence, and how practicing being in silence can have a profound effect on our wellbeing.

I refer to my own experiences during a 10 day silent Vipassana Meditation retreat, and talk about why in our modern society we might be talking too much and not listening enough.

In this episode I look at the most common misconceptions that people hold about meditation and why these are not just holding people back,but even stopping them from beginning. I talk about the main barriers that people can come across and my top tips to help you get started meditating and crucially, to keep going.

Episode 6: 10 minute So Hum Mantra Guided Meditation05 May 202500:17:39

This episode is the first of a series of guided meditations to try in your personal practice.

This beautiful So Hum mantra meditation is a powerful way to ground and calm, body, mind and spirit. 

So Hum literally means "I Am" and I like to think of it as a beautiful expression of our existence in the here and now. Its an exclamation of our "being-ness" and a celebration of the cosmic consciousness. This ancient and simple mantra has the power to elevate and transform, bringing us right into the present moment.

So get yourself nice and warm and in a comfortable seated position, and lets begin.
