Chanie Fingerer is a birth nerd and has been a labor and delivery nurse for 8 years. After undergoing a negative experience with her first birth, she was inspired to pursue a career to support women in the way that she herself so sorely lacked. In July of 2020, she widened her reach beyond the hospital by starting an educational Instagram account, @yoledetacademy, and subsequently launched The Happy Birthway Podcast. Chanie infuses her education through a Jewish lens and specializes in serving the unique needs of Jewish women. Yoledet Academy now offers online childbirth education courses with a focus on self-advocacy and a community membership, which you can find by going to yoledetacademy.com. Chanie also consults for medical malpractice attorneys as an obstetric nurse expert witness and works as a camp nurse in the summers.

I talk with Rahel Bayar, a former sex crimes prosecutor, about her career at the Bronx DA’s office. She shares why she felt compelled to work with victims of sexual abuse, how that led her to work in abuse prevention, and why she wants us to approach sexual abuse like crossing the street.

Rahel Bayar, CEO, is a former sex crimes and child abuse prosecutor who has worked in the field of sexual misconduct and abuse prevention for over a decade. She built her career on creating safe spaces and facilitating change in workplaces globally. Rahel recently served as a Managing Director in the Sexual Misconduct Consulting & Investigations division of T&M Protection Resources, a global security and consulting firm. Previously, she spent many years as an Assistant District Attorney in both the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes and Domestic Violence Bureaus at the Bronx District Attorney’s office.

Rahel has piloted leadership training and child safety best practices training at multiple summer camps across the US & Canada and is a consultant to camp directors. Ms. Bayar is the author of a curriculum on teaching abuse prevention in specific faith- based communities and has been featured on webinars for camps, schools and parents on preventing sexual abuse of children. She serves on multiple faith based child protection committees, on the advisory council of Ta’amod: Transforming Jewish Workplaces, has co-authored articles on sexual abuse and was recognized by The Jewish Week 36 Under 36 in 2017 for her activism and efforts towards preventing sexual misconduct and abuse, particularly against children. Rahel is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers University and received her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law.

Menucha facilitates workshops for children and adults about inclusion, acceptance and how we can make a difference. Menucha runs Mum Le Mum a support group for fellow warrior mums who have children with disabilities.

Menucha shares her journey through her social media platforms @magicalmendy in the hope to spread awareness, educate others about disabilities and most importantly for other parents to feel less isolated and alone.

I talk with Betty Gulko, a life coach and blogger, about what it was like growing up in and out of foster care. She shares her experiences being moved around from home to home, finding the community that took her in, getting formally adopted at 19 and what all that meant as she was moving into motherhood.

After receiving a double masters degree and working in the field of therapy with children on the Autistic Spectrum, Betty Gulko began to pursue her passion for creativity. She started her business and blog SuchaBetty, LLC while working as an editorial fashion stylist in NYC and sharing her own fashion, beauty, and lifestyle creations on Instagram. With her passion to inspire and positivity infused content, she began to mentor teens about self esteem.
