Say Goodbye to Passive Onboarding.10 Oct 202400:21:58

Tell us what you like about our show and share your Bad work stories so we can help. Thanks Emma & Corina

We are on a mission to end suffering at work.

Bad work stories are everywhere - they are stressful - sucking our time, attention and precious energy, and for a lot of us, we take the stress home.

A great leader once said - “Be the change you want to see in the world “, and that's what we do here.

We must do something different if we want more joy and healthy collaboration in our teams and organisations. Take what resonates with you, and let us know how you get on.

This week, we chat about passive onboarding and how it wastes time and creates unnecessary waiting and uncertainty. Pre installed alignment that quickly sets everyone up for success is possible - purpose and culture - USE IT ! Your new people will thank you for it.

Thank you for joining us.

Today we celebrate our 2 year anniversary and we thank everyone who has listened, given us feedback and joined us on the mission to stop suffering at work.

We are taking a podcast pause to work on creative development and will be back soon.

“Held Captive All Day” A New Approach at Mineral Resources Australia.05 Sep 202400:29:28

Each week, we take ONE Bad work story - and discuss:

  • A Perspective for Everyone.
  • A Perspective for Leaders, specifically
  • One practical tool that you can apply today.

Take one or all three, and you can improve your Bad Work story today.

We must do something different if we want more joy and healthy collaboration in our teams and organisations.   Take what resonates with you, and let us know how you get on.

This week, we explore the news coming out of Mineral Resources Australia, where the MD prefers to hold employees captured all day - walking outside for a coffee is too costly.

Points covered

  • Is this a culture fit for you ?
  • Low trust and low autonomy for productivity in HQ
  • How does this approach align with the Vision, Purpose, Values and people statements on their website.

Thank you for joining us today.

Suppose you want to upgrade your skills and confidence in handling group dynamics and increase the effectiveness and joy of your meetings. In that case, we invite you to join us at the following online facilitation course Corina will run in October. It will be four hours once a week for eight weeks. We have a special discount offer for BWSMG listeners :)

https://zenergyglobal.com.au/programmes/programme-status/upcoming/  - perfect for Europe, Australia, NZ, India, and South East Asia.

This week, we explore the impact of a bad customer experience over a parking fine and a complaints department that can't talk to the call centre or the customer!

Points covered

  • If customers are everyone's priority, why do we get frustration and friction instead of flow and fun?
  • What’s the real agenda?  Profit over reputation
  • How do you get the customer line of sight connection across an organisation?

Thank you for joining us today.

Suppose you want to upgrade your skills and confidence in handling group dynamics and increase the effectiveness and joy of your meetings. In that case, we invite you to join us at the following online facilitation course Corina will run in October. It will be four hours once a week for eight weeks. The After-math of the Spanish Womens Football Team’s Victory - when the glow is stolen from you.07 Sep 202300:20:01

Tell us what you like about our show and share your Bad work stories so we can help. Thanks Emma & Corina

Emma and Corina are on a mission to stop bad work stories. Work need not be a place of drama and suffering.

We take everyday situations and apply practical and kind strategies to improve them.

Add them to your leadership and facilitation toolkit.

2 weeks ago we did an episode that looked behind the scenes of the Womens Football World Cup and how the women involved need to double down on their resilience for games played off the field. When the Spanish team took to the winners podium, the President of their Governing Body grabbed the Spanish Captain, held her head with both hands and kissed her on the mouth. He said it was consensual. Jenni Hermoso said it was not. Local and Global outrage unfolded and finally 3 weeks after the final ( in the day we planned to record this episode) the Spanish federation issued an apology to all its shareholders and fired the victorious Spanish Coach, The President is still refusing to resign and as of today ( one day after recording) Jenni has filed a complaint against him for Sexual assault.

Points covered:

  • Why we need to talk about this and not ignore it
  • How do we use this public and now global situation to increase dialogue within our teams on personal space and appropriate touching in celebration settings
  • What to do when your boundaries are crossed.

We share several strategies to deal with this specific situation.

Points covered:

  • Culture is your set-up for success tool.
  • Deal with trouble spots you know of in advance and be direct.
  • Be careful of what behaviours from leaders you tolerate
