So far in 2024 Dan has finished as the assist at Mirrim Wurnit and ran 40 yards at No Time To Die.  Dan's biggest race will be in October, when he will be joining team Australia at the Satellite World Champs in Perth which he qualified for by running 51 yards at Herdys last year.

Narchi started running Backyard Ultra's last year when she debut'd at Clint Eastwood by running an impressive 34 yards and finishing as the first placed female.  This year Narchi has run at Dead Cow Gully and most recently at Clint Eastwood again, where she smashed her PB and broke the Australian female record in the process by going for 51 hours.

Next weekend, the Red Dirt Backyard Ultra will be held for the first time in Karratha, Western Australia, as a Bigs affiliated event. Jamie Oborne, a local Karratha resident and experienced ultra runner, will be participating in the event. Jacs Homann, one of the Race Directors, has played a key role in organising the race. The Red Dirt Backyard Ultra will also mark the return of Phil Gore, who will be running his first BYU since Bigs last year.

Ryan Crawford is one of Australia's best and most experienced Backyard Ultra Runners.  In 2023 his best result was when he ran 60 yards at Clint Eastwood finishing with James Blanton and he was also the LOS at DCG and Glasshouse Standing.  Most recently he ran at Dead Cow Gully where he was the assist when he ran for 68 yards.  

2024 is the year of the Backyard Ultra for Paul.  So far this year Paul has already run in three Backyards Ultras, MVP, Herdys and Dead Cow Gully.  Not only that, Paul is also the mastermind behind 'Wild Dog BYU' which will be kicking off for the first time on the 21st June.

Megan ran in her first Backyard Ultra in January at Saguaro Showdown and proved herself to be a natural at the format.  Not only did she finish as the Last One Standing, but she also earned a Silver Ticket on to team USA to run at Satellite World Championships in October.  Her 65 yard performance at Seguaro Showdown is the fourth highest total by a woman of all time.

In June last year Dead Cow Gully found itself the talk of the Backyard Ultra World when Phil Gore ran a world record 102 yards.  It's exciting to see the return of Dead Cow Gully Backyard Ultra on the 4th May and race director Tim Walsh came on to talk all about it.

Aaron is going from strength to strength as an endurance athlete and BYU runner.  Last year he came 18th in the World at the Backyard Ultra World Championships at Bigs when he ran for 75 yards.  Aaron has a big 2024 planned and started recently with a win in the Delirious West 200 miler.

Johan ran his first Backyard ultra at Hysterical Carnage in 2021.  He has run in five backyards since and was the assist in his last two.  Johan's most recent race was at Herdys where he ran a PB of 52 yards which earned him a place on the Australian At-Large list.

Tim has had an amazing 12 months of running in Backyard Ultras.  Last year he ran 51 yards at Herdys, 55 yards at The Masters at Dead Cow Gully and then rounded things off by running 60 yards at Bigs.  Last week Tim earned himself a silver ticket into the Australian BYU team by finishing as the Last One Standing at Mirrim Wurnit in some of the toughest conditions possible.

Adam Keen ran in New Zealands first ever Backyard Ultra back in 2019 where he finished as the assist.  He has run in six backyard ultras since, including finishing as the New Zealand Champion in 2020.  Last year Adam was present from beginning to end at The Masters at Dead Cow Gully as well as Bigs, both world record breaking races.  Adam is a running coach and his website is: www.aerobicedge.com

Chris ran an amazing race at Birdys last year, running 33 yards while completing a piece of artwork between loops.  Just over a week ago Chris ran at Birdys again and this time finished as the Last One Standing, earning a silver ticket onto the Australian team to run at the Satellite World Champs in October.

Eric Keeler is the man behind 'Rasselbock Running' and organise's a whole range of running events in the UK.  This weekend is the second year of the Rasselbock Backyard Ultra, the first silver ticket event of the year in the UK.  Eric came on to talk Backyard Ultra's and the race going down this weekend.

Joel is a familiar face to many around the Backyard Ultra scene as a member Tim Kacprzak's crew.  Joel is proving himself to be more than a handy runner himself, running 25 yards at No Time To Die last year and just recently he was the Last One Standing at MVP Backyard Ultra in a dominant performance.

Rhys ran in three Backyard Ultra's in 2023, running over 30 yards twice.  He ran 37 yards at Dead Cow Gully and in October he finished as the joint Last One Standing with Adam Fox when he ran 34 yards.  Rhys also sports one of the best beards going around in the running game.

Rowan loves running and has raced in QLD, NSW, VIC and New Zealand.  He has run in three Backyard Ultra's, most recently at The Masters where he completed 32 yards.  At the moment he is busy organising 'We've Gotcha Backyard Ultra', which is being run on the 10th March.

Jon has been running ultra's since 2008.  His last five races have all been Backyard Ultra's and his results are outstanding, finishing as the LOS at The Big Hill Bonk two years running and most recently running an amazing 98 yards at The World Championships at Bigs to finish seventh in the world.

Gemma Gore has more experience crewing at backyard ultra's than pretty much anyone.  She has crewed for Phil at all 10 of his backyard ultra's, including when he broke the world record at The Masters and when he ran 100 yards at The World Champs at Bigs.

Charles is an experienced backyard ultra runner, having completed six events since his debut at Birdys in 2020. At his most recent race, Hysterical Carnage, Charles finished after successfully completing 38 yards.  It was great having Charles on to hear about his running journey.

Thor currently holds the Iceland backyard ultra record with 50 yards which he ran at the The Race of Champions in Germany last year.  Thor also ran at the Individual world championships at Bigs in 2023 where he ran for 27 hours.

After an eventful year of Backyard Ultra running, Ben Nicholls, Tim Kacprzak & Mat Dube came on the podcast to talk about the 2023 BYU year.  

Rob Parsons is one of the best Backyard Ultra runners in the world, proven by his top 12 performance at Bigs in October when he completed 84 yards to place him eleventh overall.  Jac has crewed for Rob at all his BYU's and is a huge factor in his success.

Jono ran his first Backyard Ultra just over 12 months ago when he ran 28 yards at Red's.  Since then he has gone from strength to strength, finishing as the Last One Standing at Sydney's BYU as well as Coffs Harbour.  His most recent result is the most impressive though when he returned to Red's and ran 57 yards which qualified him to run for team Australia at the Satellite World Champs in October.

Gaby is a dietitian and sports nutritionist who specialises in endurance sports.  In fact, Gaby had four of her athletes run at the Backyard Ultra Individual World Championship at Bigs just recently.  In this podcast Gaby discusses a whole range of BYU nutrition topics and it was awesome.

Frank qualified to run at the Backyard Ultra Individual World Championship at Bigs when he ran 67 yards for team Belgium last year.  Frank ran an incredible race at Bigs completing 97 yards which positioned him 8th in the world. 

James Blanton ran 60 yards at Clint Eastwood which qualified him to run at the World Championships at Bigs two months later.  James went on to run for 72 hours at Bigs, placing 23rd in the world and becoming only the fifth Australian to break the 72 hour mark in a Backyard Ultra.

Phil recently ran at the Individual Backyard Ultra World Championships at  Bigs Backyard in Tennessee where he ran an incredible 100 yards.    In doing so he became the only person to have run 100 yards or more in a Backyard Ultra twice in a calendar year.

Ihor broke the world record for an assist in a Backyard Ultra just recently at Big's Backyard Ultra Individual World Championships when he ran for 107 hours.  He is one of only eight people to have broken the 100 hour barrier and he did it in only his third Backyard.

Tim Moffatt has been analysing the facts and figures from Bigs over the last few days and he came on do to a real deep dive into the stats and numbers behind Bigs Backyard Ultra 2023.

Brendan Verrier is an ultra runner from Alice Springs.  In May this year Brendan broke the track record at the West Macs Standley Monster over 65km.  A few months later he ran in his first Backyard Ultra at The Red Centre Wringer and finished as the Last One Standing.

Justin Wright ran on team USA at last years BYU Sat Champs and Dom Halbert completed 30 yards at Suffolk BYU this year.  They joined the podcast to preview Bigs 2023 which starts on the 21st October.  We go through each runner and give our picks and predictions.

Last year Helen broke 24 hours in three Backyard Ultras, including her PB of 31 yards at Arrowtown.  This year Helen and her Partner Chris have organised their first Backyard Ultra (Kings BYU) and in a couple of weeks Helen will be running at Clint Eastwood.  Helen and Chris also run an event kit hire business that caters for runners at Backyard Ultras https://hisandhersevents.co.nz/

Mark has a real passion for Backyard Ultras.  He ran in his first Backyard in 2020 at MVP and has improved his PB in each running of MVP since.  Mark is a Type 1 Diabetic and it was really interesting and inspiring to hear his approach to Backyard Ultras.

Adam is the man behind the TV show 'Search4hurt'.  Season 4 of Search4hurt is going to be ultra exciting as it is going to feature its contestants running at Mirrim Wurnit Backyard Ultra in March.  The application process to be a contestant sounds like a lot of fun too.

Robbie is a race director and runner.  He is the main man behind North Vic Backyard Ultra's and just over a week ago saw the second year running of his Backyard Ultra in Shepparton 'GV Last Man Standing'.

When it comes to running ultra's Brick has almost done it all.  He is adding race director to his running CV at the moment as he gears up to host Sydney's first Backyard Ultra, the inaugural 'Bricks Backyard Ultra'.

Margie is the Australian female Backyard Ultra record holder, she broke the record last year when she ran 47 yards for team Australia at the Satellite World Championships.  Just recently she was the last one standing at Birdys Backyard when she ran 46 yards.

Harvey Lewis ran his first Backyard Ultra at Bigs in 2017.  He was the Last One Standing at The World Championships at Bigs in 2021 when he ran 85 yards, which broke the world record at the time.  Harvey also ran at The Backyard Masters at Dead Cow Gully this year when he ran 90 yards and he will be defending his world championship crown at Bigs this year in October.

Hendrik was the Last One Standing for team Germany at the Satellite World Champs last year, earning himself a golden ticket to Bigs.  Also, he was recently the assist at Suffolk Backyard Ultra when he ran 81 yards, which places him 11th of all time.

After Patto ran 34 yards at Birdys Backyard Ultra a couple of weeks ago, Kevin 'Big Kev' Matthews came on to the podcast and turned the tables by asking Patto all the questions.

The inaugural running of Reds Backyard Ultra was held just over a week ago.  Barry Keem was the Last One Standing running 35 yards and Red Barnett was the race director.  We had a great time talking about how the race was conceived, run and won.

Chris has run in five Backyard Ultra's and was part of the Australian team at the Satellite World Champs last year.  This weekend he is running at Birdys Backyard Ultra.  As well as running in the race he is also going to be creating a piece of artwork during the time he has spare between loops.  

Ben ran 28 yards in Australia's first ever Backyard Ultra back in 2019 at Mirrim Wurnit.  Since then he has finished as the Last One Standing at MVP, Backyard Blister and most recently at GUMBY, which earned him a Silver Ticket into the 2024 Australian Satellite World Champs team which he also represented in 2022.

Miguel is a race director from Venezuela and he is responsible for introducing the Backyard Ultra format to the country.  So far Miguel and his team have organised 5 Backyard Ultra's including the Venezuelan leg that took part in the Satellite World Championships last year.

Liv and Kirsty are close friends and training partners from the 'Whitsundays' region in Northern QLD.  They ran at the Australian Backyard Masters and were the last two females standing with Liv running 35 yards and Kirsty running 32.

Aaron (63 yards), Tim (55 yards) and Johan (43 yards) all ran PB's at the Australian Backyard Masters at Dead Cow Gully.  They spent a lot of the race working together and formed a bond that made the race even more memorable.

Ollie earned his spot as a 'wildcard' entry at The Masters and he impressed everyone there by running for 15 hours (yards) which means he hit the 100km milestone.  In this podcast Ollie talks about his running journey and experience at Dead Cow Gully.
