In the second part of the conversation, Christine Wushke shares about the early days of seeking, when she was in an office job thinking about Awakening and Enlightenment. She found solace in a used bookstore where she discovered Eastern philosophy books and felt supported on her path by always being given the next thing she needed.
We discuss the importance of micro shifts in everyday experience and how these small changes lead to a bigger transformation. The conversation shifts to the importance of being present in the moment and taking one step at a time. We discuss the concept of everything being interconnected, using the example of fascia in the body as a reflection of this idea. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of being mindful and present in order to facilitate awakening, integration and healing.

Your biggest problem as a seeker is that you don’t know how to stop seeking, so the seeking continues. And it shows up as thoughts and associated feelings of not enough, this is not it, there needs to be more, something better, this cannot be accepted and so on. And you can see these patterns play out as soon as you stop for a minute and do nothing. In the moment of listening and looking deeply at what is already here, the habitual thought patterns are clearly revealed. Something opens. And you are suddenly aware and awake.

Awakening is just a beginning. What follows the initial shift of perspective is a continuous opening to aliveness, to intimacy, to presence and peace that is beyond words and understanding. I talk to Adam about his journey as an individual and a teacher. We look at strong emotions as shame, guilt, remorse around being yourself and sexuality.
Adam Chakcsfield is a spiritual teacher who shares the openness of nonduality, the intimacy of love, and the aliveness of erotic life energy.
He grew up in England, but now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Adam first turned to spirituality and meditation after a series of profound psychedelic-assisted openings led him to the truth beyond all philosophies.
Adam began inviting his friends to do nondual inquiry with him and was amazed by the ease with which the direct experience of openness could be shared. In 2010, with Peter Fenner’s encouragement and support, Adam started to share nonduality with groups and individuals where he was living in rural Illinois. His work grew organically from there as Adam was invited to teach in nearby cities, then the San Francisco Bay Area, Canada, and Europe.
The way Adam supports healing and transformation has been greatly influenced by the heart-centered softness and full-bodied aliveness of Jeannie Zandi’s teaching. What is awakening? If this question is alive in you, listen to my conversation with Ryan Burton. This is a deep dive. Ryan Burton, an awakening guide and meditation teacher, explains that awakening involves dissolving the self and dualistic perceptions, and is a cessation of the old way of seeing life.
I loved talking to Ryan as he was expressing from a place of wisdom with light humour, it made the conversation fresh.
We explored the nature of awakening, describing it as a shift from living in craving and dissatisfaction to experiencing profound peace and contentment.
Ryan shared his experiences with meditation retreats, describing moments of stillness and profound peace as foundational to his spiritual path. This path often involves personal suffering, which, in Burton’s case, included losing his father, leading him to deeper spiritual exploration.
Awakening, while offering bliss and clarity, also brings challenges as one's previous life attachments and mental patterns resurface, requiring release and acceptance. This intense transformation can feel like a "dark night" or detox of the mind, body, and spirit. A lot is happening after the shift!
We discuss the illusion of separateness and how deeply entrenched beliefs shape one’s experience of self and the world, with awakening providing an escape from such dualistic tendencies. Awakening is described as a realization that all aspects of life—the pleasant and the challenging—are simply manifestations of consciousness.
Additionally, the conversation touches on meditation's role in seeing things as they are, unclouded by preconceived beliefs, and the importance of allowing experiences to unfold without needing outcomes.
