Why You Can't Find Internal Audit Talent31 Mar 202300:47:23

Many career fields occasionally suffer shortages.

You Must Trust Your Gut23 Feb 202300:28:33

Internal auditing is a complex field that requires a careful balance of intuition and analytics.

While it is important to trust the data, it is also important to trust your gut.

Bad auditors will bemoan this statement.

"What about objectivity and independence?" They'll ask.

"What about observing human behavior and what happens in the world beyond and/or in conjunction with the data?" is typically my response.

Join us on this episode of Audit Bites where we discuss some of the consequences of trusting your gut and the importance of trusting gut instincts.

Audit Leaders Are Failing Future Auditors14 Apr 202200:35:10

Should auditors be aware of emotional issues?10 Feb 202200:31:18

Facts don't care about your feelings.

Unfortunately feelings control many decisions in business environments. I worked with one woman who was overworked, underpaid and completely burned out.

Each year, she asked her boss for additional funding to hire more staff. Each year, her boss denied her request.

Why?

It finally came out that her boss simply did not like her. So she worked for years in an compromised control environment because of her boss' personal problem.

After she left, the money magically appeared to clean up the department.

Are auditors aware of emotional issues that impact the organization?

Should you be?

Why SOX is Ruining Internal Audit24 Jan 202200:39:07

Before the world went into chaos, I was known for wearing colorful socks. It was different and added a little style to my wardrobe. Then came SOX. Ughh. Every Auditor Should Study Psychology21 Dec 202100:23:12

Have you ever sat in a meeting and thought, "Everyone in here is bat sh** crazy"? Thousands of auditors sit in meetings presenting facts to clients who, instead of acknowledging issues, go on the attack.
