  • Differentiating between a gremlin and plain ole fear 14:30

Stay hungry, my friends.

Episode 79

mercredi 1 mai 2024Duration 52:36

Send us Fan Mail

Please join me for an hour of the chats with my super cool accountant, the great Sandi York of Fit Money Coach!
The older I get, the more I see the consequences of not pursuing financial literacy even though *insert all the reasons it is perfectly horrible to learn financial literacy*.  I want to at least give you some resources that I know for a fact to be excellent and trustworthy- therefore, please meet Sandi. :)

What you'll hear:

  • How Sandi decided to choose the accountant path 7:00
  • When and how she made the decision to go rogue (ie: self employed, baby!) 11:50
  • Pure magic and synchronicity at work!  Sandi meets Dr. Shante Cofield (aka the Movement Maestro) and the rest is history, I love this story so much 13:30

  • Profit First for Micro-Gyms:  Sandi's recommendation if you want to bone up on Profit First as a financial system (it's more simplified and relevant for solo gym owners which more easily translates into solopreneurs)

  • Sandi's recommendations to get OUT of credit card debt 39:15
  • "If you could wave a magic wand and ensure every freelancer/business owner knew one thing, what would it be?"  (we get TWO answers muahahaha)  47:00

Episode 78: How to create a demo reel on a budget

Episode 78

mercredi 24 avril 2024Duration 19:38

Send us Fan Mail

As promised to Rachel- a whole bunch of advice on the do's and don't of creating a demo reel!  Rachel asked:

" I have a request for a podcast episode, as an "amateur" aerialist who is trying to gig more, I feel comfortable with rates in my local area and am working on getting insurance, but I don't have a demo reel. And all of my footage of performances are kinda shitty phone videos, I am also not financially able to hire a videographer to make me some new footage. Production companies who I've spoken with have asked for demos, and I totally get it, but I'm not sure what to do.

I'm sure I'm not the only one in this pickle, so hoping you could help some cash poor newbies get hired."

What you will hear:

  • (Unrelated to  demo reels) if you want to read a detailed expose of my surgical experience with photos (nothing gory, only cute) you can do that here on the Patreon!
  • What needs to go on a demo reel 6:31
  • A very common mistake artists make when sitting down to create a demo reel 8:00
  • The point of a demo reel 8:30
  • How long should it be?  9:19 (but also...how long is someone actually going to watch)
  • 11:16 my recommendation for video editing on mobile that I've seen
  • Great resource for open source music:  https://freemusicarchive.org/
  • Do's and don'ts 13:00
  • 15:40 homework for you!
  • If you neglect to do this, I will hunt you down.  Don't make me come over there.  17:15
  • Woo Corner is coming out next week!  Sign up here, it could totally save your life.

Episode 77: Honoring the Rib Ache

Episode 77

mercredi 17 avril 2024Duration 22:30

Send us Fan Mail

This episode is brought you to by my friend KT's question:  "Honoring the rib ache!  It’d be really cool to hear a deep dive on it/your experiences ignoring and following that feeling.  I revisited the idea recently when I found myself doing a bunch of random shit I wasn’t enjoying just to make more money."

What you'll hear:

  • BossUP 2024 is live and I'm STOKED to be speaking on a stage with a couple heroes of mine:  Dr. Shante Cofield and Jill Coleman.  Dates are October 10-11:  https://www.jillfitprograms.com/bossup
  • What is  "the rib ache"? 4:40  (hint:  it's best described by playing The Game)
  • My own personal story of the rib ache, and how it ruined everything (and saved my life) 6:04
  • Other ways to tap into the rib ache 13:13
  • Why platitudes like "follow your bliss" are well intended but meaningless 14:00
  • How rib aches can become boundaries, and boundaries can become rules...and sometimes rules need to be broken.
  • Me making and breaking my own rules, years apart 17:00
