Episode 56: 056 // Interview with Natalie Parker

dimanche 24 novembre 2024Duration 01:12:44

Today on the Art + Business + Murals Podcast I am speaking with abstract artist, Natalie Parker. Her expressive paintings explore the rawness of human emotion through gestural mark making, contrasting brushstrokes and colour. With a paint brush in her hand since kindergarten, art has been the vehicle through which this introvert can express herself to the world.Formally trained with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Postgraduate Diploma of Secondary School Art Teaching, Natalie's art knowledge and experience provides her with a wealth of ideas to explore in the studio. Natalie's process begins with a colour palette and feeling in mind as she takes to the canvas. Often beginning with expressive brushstrokes and gestural mark making. As the work begins to take form she pulls back and assesses what to leave and what to remove. With layers of colour and a push and pull conversation emerging, Natalie remains in the dance of the work until resolution and peace arise.Through her work, Natalie aims to bring a sense of calm and order and show that beauty and joy can emerge in even the most challenging seasons of life. In this interview we talk about the business side of art, developing your art style and balancing parenting and art.  If you’d like to check out Natalies’s work:Website // https://www.natalieparkerartist.comInstagram // https://www.instagram.com/natalieparkerstudio/Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/natalieparkerartist/  ——— Thank you so much for tuning into the Art + Business + Murals PodcastIf you’d like to say ‘hi’ to me, or if you have any podcast topic ideas or artists you’d like me to interview, please email: podcast@sarahsculley.com Please follow along:Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/sculleydesign/Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/sculleydesignYou Tube // https://www.youtube.com/@SarahSculley/videosWebsite // https://www.sculleydesign.comFeel free to give this podcast a star rating and ‘follow’ so you are notified when new episodes come out each Monday. Episode 50: 050 // Interview with Katie Wyer: Developing an artistic style, print on demand and the influence of family

dimanche 13 octobre 2024Duration 58:41

Today I am speaking with Katie Wyer. As a child, art was Katies escape from the noise of a household of eight. It was also her favourite time filler while traveling the world with her husband.  After having four children in five years, she longed to put brush to paper without the stress of toddlers’ wandering hands getting into her oil paints or mediums. After finding the space to paint freely again, the female figure features almost exclusively in Katie’s work. Her true passion lies in connecting with her collectors through the emotions and messages that inspire her pieces, as we all learn to embrace our own beautiful mess. In this interview we talk about balancing family and business and how Katie’s family influence her art. We speak about her thriving prints and paint sales and how she found her style.  If you’d like to check out Katie’s work:Website // https://katiewyerart.comInstagram // https://www.instagram.com/katiewyerart/Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100077717169378  ——— Thank you so much for tuning into the Art + Business + Murals PodcastIf you’d like to say ‘hi’ to me, or if you have any podcast topic ideas or artists you’d like me to interview, please email: podcast@sarahsculley.com Please follow along:Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/sculleydesign/Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/sculleydesignYou Tube // https://www.youtube.com/@SarahSculley/videosWebsite // https://www.sculleydesign.comFeel free to give this podcast a star rating and ‘follow’ so you are notified when new episodes come out each Monday.
