Jerel McCants is an architect, author, firm founder, and professional leader. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, he earned his B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Tennessee State University and later received his Master of Architecture from the University of South Florida. His career has included work with architecture and construction firms in Nashville, Atlanta, and Tampa, ultimately leading him to establish Jerel McCants Architecture, Inc. during the Great Recession. His practice has served municipal, educational, cultural, residential, and federal clients. Beyond practice, Jerel has held leadership roles within the architectural profession, including serving as President of AIA Tampa Bay, while continuing his engagement in professional and community organizations. His international experiences across more than 30 countries have also shaped his perspective on architecture, culture, community, and the environments we inherit and create.
