| Anyone Can Decide Who Lives | 03 Jul 2026 | 00:32:59 | |
Welcome to Anything Could Happen—the real play experience where we put
players against problems with no easy answers, incomplete information,
and a ticking clock. I'm Oscar, your host, and it's my job to set things
up and then go behind the scenes to pass messages to the players to
keep knocking things off track.
We join the crew of the UFR quarantine cutter CSV Seacole, holding orbit
above the colony world Billgrey, where four of them are sealed inside
the medical bay. A specimen canister has cracked, and a toxic agent is
bleeding into the air. The scrubbers that should clean it are failing.
They have about twenty minutes before the bay is unbreathable.
There is one working rebreather rig. Whoever wears it could cross the
contaminated corridor and restart the scrubbers by hand, saving everyone
else. But the dose out there will almost certainly kill whoever goes.
An automated distress signal was sent out, but there has yet to be any
reply and the coms system is on the other side of the corridor. Do they
send someone to certain doom or to seal the bay and hope for a rescue
that may not reach them in time?
Our crew have to decide whether to send one of their own to die so the
rest can live, or to all gamble on rescue together.
And of course... Anything Could Happen

For generations, two cultures have shared the same region of space, and
neither has ever accepted the other's right to be there. The Helion
Combine build systems to last. The Kesharia Diaspora survive by
adapting. The Helion say the Keshari destabilises everything they touch.
The Keshari say the Helion abandon people the moment they become
inconvenient. They've both spent decades proving themselves right.
Things have started to change. Neither side can deal with what's coming
on their own. That's how we end up with a meeting on neutral ground.

In this scenario, the bridge crew of a UFR exploration ship, ESV
Tranquillity, are operating just beyond mapped space. A few hours ago,
they picked up a signal that doesn’t really make sense. It’s not clean,
not consistent, and not in any format they recognise. At first, it
looked like background noise, but it repeats, and every so often, it
almost lines up into something understandable.
When it does, they only get fragments. Listening to it, it’s hard to
tell what they’re actually hearing. It could be a warning, it could be a
distress signal, or it might even be telling them not to respond at
all. Every interpretation seems to fit, and none of them quite holds up.
Right now, the signal is unstable, so they’re only catching pieces of
it. But the science officer is confident of one thing — in about ten
minutes, it’s going to align properly for a short window, and they’ll be
able to hear it clearly.
After that, it degrades again… and twenty minutes from now it’s gone
completely.
No second chance.
At the moment, they’re just listening. They haven’t responded, and
whatever is out there doesn’t know they’re here and of course...

I'm Oscar, your host, and it's my job to set things up and then go behind the scenes to pass messages to the players to keep knocking things off track.
In this scenario the players wake up cold, nestled on a comfortable mattress beneath a large glass lid that has opened up above them. They are in Cryopods. The air is thin. The light pulses in uneven amber. Around them are nearly identical pods—four open, two still sealed. Frost clings to everything. They do not recognise this place. They do not remember how they arrived or even where they came from. Something has gone very wrong and they have no idea of they are. And of course, Anything Could Happen...

| Anyone Can Dream Too Big | 23 Apr 2026 | 00:29:09 | |
Welcome to Anything Could Happen—the real play experience where we put
players against problems with no easy answers, incomplete information,
and a ticking clock.
I'm Oscar, your host, and it's my job to set things up and then go
behind the scenes to pass messages to the players to keep knocking
things off track.
In this scenario we join the senior researchers at a leading academic
institution. Several years ago, they created a controlled simulation.
A closed system. Self-evolving. Designed to study emergent complexity.
It exceeded expectations.
It is still running.
Inside, something remarkable has developed; a fully realized culture of
apparently sapient digital beings. However, on the campus the costs and
infrastructure have struggled to keep up.
The team have predicted that the risk of a cascading power instability
is inevitable unless you can upgrade the facility. But there is no
budget - in fact - you have been told to make cuts. Worse If this
instability spikes, the simulation will collapse.
The players have been called into an emergency session and it seems that
there is only minutes to decide what to do. And of course, Anything
Could Happen...

On a routine patrol, the crew of the MSV Illustrious responds to a faint
emergency hail in the outer reaches of the HD 40307 system, in the

They discover a drifting civilian vessel, Mercy of Dawn.
The Power readings are minimal.
There are no life signs.
There is no obvious damage to the ship

Relay Station Enoch is a civilian deep-space installation serving as a
trade waypoint, habitat, and maintenance hub. The station is home to
thousands of people and has dozens of ships arriving and leaving every
cycle.
Twelve minutes ago, the station detected an impact or explosion
following a routine harmonic transition. Core systems are showing signs
of operating outside design tolerance, and the station systems warn of
the risk of structural cascading failure.

| Anyone Can Abandon a Place | 05 Mar 2026 | 00:34:10 | |
The crew of a UFR-sanctioned investigation team is responding to an
unusual discovery at the edge of charted space. Long-range surveys have
identified the remains of an undocumented colony installation on the 3rd
planet in the Teegarden’s Star system, and it seems to date back to the
late Corporation Era. There is no record of there ever being a colony
at this location - indeed, it wasn’t listed on any of the official logs;
instead, the system was classified as uninhabitable. There is no
population registry, and no emergency beacons are shouting out any
warnings. From orbit, the site appears intact but abandoned - with
operational (but dormant) Life-support systems and no obvious hazards
have been detected.
And of course, anything could happen...

government has collapsed.
Under enormous pressure, a local faction calling itself The Vigilant

A civilian passenger starship — The Lysaen Starliner — has transmitted a
distress signal after suffering a catastrophic failure during Harmonic
Transit. That should be impossible. Harmonic drives are considered the
safest method of FTL travel ever invented. The last fatal collapse event
occurred more than a century ago. Yet the starliner’s hull is torn
open, atmosphere is venting, and its harmonic signature shows unknown
interference patterns no one can explain. The vessel is drifting —
slowly, but inevitably — toward the Karnathi Exclusion Zone.

| Anyone Can Keep the Peace | 16 Jan 2026 | 00:35:24 | |
An emergency UFR delegation has been summoned to prevent a planetary
catastrophe. The colony world Vandris IX is on the brink of civil war.
Two rival governments each claim legitimate authority. Their automated
orbital and surface defence systems are already armed. If no agreement
is reached today, mutually assured destruction protocols will activate.
This will result in the loss of millions of lives. Both sides insist
that peace is possible, and a settlement must be negotiated. If they
fail, Vandris IX burns.
And of course, anything could happen...

| Anyone Could Be The Saboteur | 16 Jan 2026 | 00:28:41 | |
The orbital reconnaissance base Erebus-4 has recently been deployed in
orbit around the gas giant Upsilon Persei b. A devastating explosion has
crippled the station’s reactor and communications. Radiation levels are
climbing, indicating the risk of lethal exposure in 20 minutes. The
crew are in the command centre and although there are living quarters
these are inaccessible due to the damage to the explosion with sections
opened to vacuum. The base has a prototype AI Analyst on board that has
been observing ship movements by a Malanki fleet that recently arrived
in a nearby system just 3Ly away. This is highly sensitive piece of
equipment is integrated into the platform and must not be left exposed
to hostile parties or corporate hands The most worrying part is the AI
has raised the possibility of the explosion being sabotage - even
potentially someone on board the vessel. How will the party escape the
collapsing base? And what are the risks if they do? And of course…

A containment alert has sealed four crew members inside the cargo hold
aboard the orbital research vessel Horizon Dawn above Gliese 832c. The
cargo bay is quite large and has a self-contained vent system, now
isolated from the main vessel. Whilst it is mostly an open space filled
with various crates and equipment, there is a significant section
specifically dedicated to exotic samples. That has basic quarantine
systems, but they are on the blink. The ship’s AI reports an
unauthorized organism moving through the vents in the cargo hold and has
triggered Quarantine Protocols. And the aged systems on the base have
failed to recognise that there are people stuck inside. The crew have
twenty minutes of oxygen and must use their combined knowledge to work
out how to make their escape. …and of course… Anything Could Happen

| Anyone Could Trigger a Shake Down | 14 Aug 2025 | 00:34:58 | |
In this episode, we’re in orbit above TOI-700 d, a lush Earth-like exoplanet orbiting a red dwarf star just over 100 light-years from Earth. The planet is home to the Tylash, a spacefaring but technically less advanced society with no historical baggage with the UFR or the old corporate blocs.
The settlements on the planet surface are littered with a unique natural resource Weyl semimetals, a new class of quantum materials that have the physical appearance of metals but are poor conductors of electricity, and whose properties do not change when they are deformed. The commercial potential for which would be enormous as the exotic material has only previously been made in labs. However, extracting those materials would be devastating to the local communities. The Tylash have reached out as they have seismic data that predicted a once in a milena resonance cascade that threatens to destabilise a huge portion of their continent. It won’t destroy the planet—but it will cause widespread suffering, devastating local flora and fauna as well as making living conditions very difficult for the next decade.
A UFR Crisis delegation with a representative of CoreHelix Crisis Division has arrived to talk to the locals about their options and they have 20 minutes before they are due to make their recommendation to the UFR Senator responsible for the Emergency Measures Agency.

In this episode, we find ourselves aboard the CSV Halcyon Wake, an independent civilian cargo vessel. You've intercepted a distress signal from the CSV Trillium Fold, a CoreHelix registered transport ship that vanished over 18 months ago.
It’s drifting on minimal power in the Eos Molecular Cloud, a volume of space 300 Ly from Earth and just outside the standard Way Station network - making it off-map, off-registry, and completely silent. No signs of damage. No response to hails. Escape pods: gone. Life signs: negative. Manifest: redacted.
You have just docked alongside the apparently abandoned vessel to investigate. You have 20 minutes until a “recovery” vessel, claiming authority under CoreHelix salvage licence, but they have not supplied any corroborating evidence. You have no idea who they really are, and of course Anything Could Happen!

| Anyone Could Break The Ice | 08 May 2025 | 00:34:41 | |
In this episode, we find ourselves in the K2-18 system, orbiting K2-18b—a confirmed Hycean planet more than 100 light-years from Earth. With a surface cloaked in thick hydrogen-rich clouds, and a vast ice-covered ocean beneath, K2-18b has long been thought to be one of the most likely candidates for alien life.
The UFR Research Icebreaker Louis S. St-Laurent has recently established orbit following the deployment of a new hydrogen-atmospheric descent rig—allowing limited surface access for the first time. But operating through the planet’s cloud layer is costly, risky, and requires corporate sponsorship.
GlacioDyne, a deep-extraction conglomerate, has funded the mission. Their goal: authorise full ice crust penetration, enabling access to volatile-rich sublayers and potential energy sources. But just days ago, the science team detected something unexpected:
Life.
A vast colony of complex multicellular myco-gelid (ultra low-temperature adaptive fungal-like) organisms have been found embedded in the ice—potentially unique to K2-18b containing a unique organic chemistry
What does this mean for the mission and who owns the rights for exploration?
Well Anything Could Happen…

| Anyone Can Take Out The Trash | 27 Feb 2025 | 00:39:29 | |
In this episode, we find ourselves in the Proxima Centauri B, the nearest star to Earth and originally established as a transit base by the Novakuma Consortium. The planet proved impractical to terraform, but residential and naval repair platforms sprawl across the orbit of the planet. The ruling council gathered to hear a report about the discovery of a large unknown object heading into the system at an extreme velocity and at an oblique angle to the solar plane.
What will the tream decide to do? What can they do about it?
Of course... Anything could happen!
